"For a $400+ room (winter rate) we had hoped to be impressed when we walked in, but it was just a basic and fairly uninspiring/ bland room.  And although we understand the local horse connection/relevance, the paintings of horses around the place were oddly creepy!  We thought getting a bath in the room was a bonus, but found it was VERY small! And for the age of the property we didn’t expect to see corroding edges on the bath! The great thing about the bathroom was the provision of gorgeous Salus products though - we sure left the property smelling fine!!!!!  The pool has a running water feature which is seriously loud and annoying if you want to sit and have a glass on the balcony and relax!  Upon arrival we did a tasting first and very much enjoyed the service of the enthusiastic attendant - she was so upbeat! The cheese board was great and in fact we preferred it to our dinner in Muse, for which we also had high expectations that were not met. We were disappointed especially that their lovely straight Viognier isn’t available in the restaurant, only the white blend, yet it is on for tasting in the cellar door. Why is that???  The saganaki was burned not pan fried; the lamb was very beautifully cooked but the accompanying ingredients were poorly chosen; the kangaroo was just an overcooked let down with a big blob of plum sitting on the side; and were the green beans meant to be stone cold???? If so, they should have been described as a salad. At least the service was very friendly in the restaurant….."
