Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club ★★★★
"We booked as a family with trip and when we arrived it had only came through as a booking for 2 adults, the lady on reception accommodated us straight away and we were upgraded to a suite. We had a lovely stay"
Waterford Lodge Hotel ★★★
"Brillent stay lovely place go back"
The Premier Lodge ★★★
"Good customer service could do with an update and new furniture I would not stay here again"
Three Wheat Heads ★★★★
"We visited a few times whilst staying in the village. We had a Sunday dinner which was fantastic (gravy to die for) and another visit we had the Cumberland sausage and mash. Both times food was lovely and customer service was really good We were made to feel very welcome and it was a relaxed atmosphere. Could do with a few more IPA’s but other than that, would t hesitate to visit is ever in the area again."
The Amble Inn - the Inn Collection Group ★★★
Anglers Arms ★★★★
"The Anglers Arms is a former coaching inn, once on the main road, but now bypassed by the A697 bridge, and so a quiet and secluded haven. As such an old building, it has its shabby aspects, but our room was bright and fresh and comfortable, as were the bar and the breakfast room. Our twin bedded room was small but comfortable, with great views over Weldon Bridge, very comfortable beds, and a decent shower. Midweek, it was a very quiet room, but it was over the bar so might get a bit noisy at weekends. The real reason to stay at the Anglers Arms is the food, which is superb--so good that we ate dinner there on all three nights of our stay. Good range of beers on tap. The breakfasts were also excellent, with a wide choice--we recommend the Craster kippers! All the staff we met on our stay, from the moment we arrived, were cheery, efficient, and very helpful. It's a good location for Rothbury, Alnwick, and the Northumberland Coast, and sits right on St Oswald's Way. And one of the locals at the bar gave us some great advice on Saxon churches to visit!"
The Queens Head Hotel ★★★★
"The rear door entrance carpet was disgustingly dirty and the carpet on the stairs and landing were also dirty and could do with a clean or replacement. The door to my room looked like it may have previously been broken into due to the damage to the frame and too much movement on the lock. I felt uncomfortable so reported this and was told there was nothing they could do until a manager was in. As I didnt feel comfortable being a solo traveller, I pushed to be re-located to a different room. Beds were comfy but it could do with a carpet cleaner. I cant comment on breakfast as the dirty carpets put me off wanting to go for the breakfast. Previous reviews seem to have also mentioned the state of this particular bedroom Door. Good location."
The Dock Hotel ★★★
"The room was clean and tidy with tea/coffee facilities Didn't stay for breakfast as they didnt start till 9am we had to leave for a journey had I known in advance the time of eating I wouldn't have booked here"
The Granby Inn ★★★★
"We had a 2 night stay at the weekend. All the staff were very helpful and Christines dietary needs would have been met if we had let them know in advance. (Gluten dairy and Caffeine free) There was Caffeine free tea already available. we were told that if we had let them know they would have have got the required things for us. They did go out and specially purchase dairy free spread for the final day. The room was comfortable and, although I was a little apprehensive being on the front of the building, there seemed to be no traffic noise. The only real problem we had was the bottom step of the stairs was narrow and it would have been nice if it stood out in some way. Also Christine had difficulty with the stairs and a second hand rail would have been nice. May be the car park could have done with a few pot holes filling. All in all though I am glad we stayed here."

Barnacre
"We booked a week away as a family and the house suited us perfectly. Plenty of bedrooms- bathrooms and all on one level. The house itself is perfect with good quality furnishings and fittings and we were delighted. Until the third day!! And from then on I have to be honest and say we were , and still are, extremely disappointed. The gas fire in the small lounge was making a very strange banging noise which was getting louder. I phoned for the owner who came to take a look. She was extremely dismissive of the problem asking us what did we expect from a 35 year old boiler. When we said we were worried about it being unsafe she very rudely stormed out of the house saying “ I’ll turn it off then!” We had the rest of the holiday with no heat in one half of the property. I contacted Sykes Cottages on return and asked them to look into this and advise re compensation as we’d paid for a house with central heating and didn’t have any for half of our stay. The owner was and still is very unco- operative asking for photos to prove our point? How she thinks we can do that I don’t know. She is also claiming that we asked her to turn it off which is just not true. As we pointed out we were concerned about the danger of a faulty boiler. We are not a rude or impolite family and don’t expect to be treated in this way when we have paid quite a lot of money to stay in any property. I’m really sorry to have to write all this but have been left with no alternative. If you’re thinking of renting Barnacre just be aware of a very poor and unnecessary attitude from the owner."
Turks Head Rothbury
"Lovely gem off a place the food is very nice and so Is the staff. We stayed in the patio room and we where very impressed with it. The atmosphere on the night time was very good we had a very nice time and hope to come back in July 😁"
The Haven
"Thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay here. Very clean and comfortable accommodation and plenty of choices on the breakfast menu. A welcome pot of tea and scone with jam and cream on arrival. Roz and Ian were friendly and very accommodating and made several suggestions of places to eat. I recommend Little Italy, an Italian Pizzeria and takeaway (twice we took Lasagnes and Pizzas back to eat at The Haven) and The Turks Head (where we ate three times)."
Westfield House Farm
"We stayed in the larger of the two B&B rooms here and had the most lovely stay. The room is spacious and well provisioned, and breakfast was well organised and very tasty with loads of choice. Very happy and would likely revisit!"
Bertram's
"Really comfortable room, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The Dyson fan was a welcome addition on a warm day and fresh milk and chilled water in the fridge was a lovely touch. The breakfast was amazing, huge portions and excellent quality. I think we'll definitely be back!"
