"The hotel is very clean and well maintained, and the room was comfortable and tidy. The location is very convenient, close to Oxford city centre, making it easy to explore the city on foot or by public transport. The hotel has a slightly vintage / traditional style, which gives it some character, though it may feel a bit old-fashioned for guests who prefer a more modern design. One thing to note is that there is no free parking available, and the hotel does not offer on-site parking spaces. If you’re travelling by car, you’ll need to arrange nearby paid parking in advance. Overall, a clean and well-located hotel with a classic feel, but not ideal if you’re driving."

"I stayed in an executive room, which was quite spacious. The room was very simple and comfortable. I needed to add a small table in the room for work, and the waiter was very quick to help me solve it. The breakfast was OK, the bread was good, but the breakfast did not change after staying for six or seven days. There was no air conditioning, but a small electric fan was provided. The temperature was quite high during the few days I stayed there, and the window in the room could be opened very small. So the room was stuffy, and even if the temperature outside dropped, the ventilation was not good, and the temperature in the room was still high. This was a bit unbearable."

"We have an amazing stay. The room was big with a lot of character . The sink and shower did not drain properly, and the shower cubicle was small. The spa had saunas, steam rooms and jacuzzi. Service was excellent. We had a lovely breakfast and dinner. There are lovely bars and lounges."

"It is recommended to avoid thunderbolts. It is hard to imagine how such a hotel can be rated five stars. Public environment: The hotel is very small, there is almost no front desk, the corridor is a narrow corridor of only one meter wide, and there is no elevator. Room: We booked an ordinary room and a suite. They are very small. The ordinary room is so small that there is no place to put the luggage. Service: The front desk service we encountered was very poor and neglected people. We were two adults and two children. We were told that the law does not allow more than three people in a room. We were asked to leave one adult and book a room in another hotel (because the hotel was full that night), and they did not agree to my check-out, and did not give any other solutions. As a result, my husband had to go to another hotel on the first night, which was really incredible. However, the service of the restaurant department was still good In summary: It is not worth the price. There must be better choices in Oxford"

Breakfast particularly - smashed avocado wasn’t mashed as the avo wasn’t ripe, and the poached eggs were overcooked and hard, burnt toast - not great for the price charged."

"We were attending a wedding in Oxford and the city centre hotels were very expensive. The reviews for the Black Boy were good so we booked. It was a joy to stay here and we had a fabulous weekend.. Great location - about 10 mins in taxi from centre and bus stop about 5 mins or so walk. Buses went to the city centre and railway station. The room was lovely, as were the welcoming staff. Breakfasts were very good and the pub had a nice atmosphere and an outside garden area. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Oxford."

"A unique old English coaching hotel. My room 117 is not soundproof. When the neighbor is watching TV, I feel like we are watching together. Sometimes there are musical instruments. Breakfast and dinner are just OK. Don't expect too much. Bruce does a good job in reception."
