Hotel Deimann

Hotel Deimann

📍 Alte Handelsstraße 5, Schmallenberg
★★★★★ 9.2 (41 reviews)

"Great, family-run hotel with super friendly and attentive staff across the board. You can tell that the owners do a lot for the staff (e.g. 2 cars for all trainees). The wellness area is very large, very modern and clean, we never had the impression that it was too full, not even at the weekend. The half board was also super good, very tasty food with appropriate (not too large) portions. The room was also great (junior suite). There is nothing to complain about here. An absolute recommendation."

Hotel Jagdhaus Wiese

Hotel Jagdhaus Wiese

📍 Jagdhaus 3, Schmallenberg
★★★★ 9.1 (26 reviews)

"Hotel Jagdhaus Wiese is located high on a hill; You can take beautiful walks around the hotel, everything is well signposted. The hotel has a very nice swimming pool, jacuzzi, 2 saunas and a steam cabin. A rest area with lovely sunbeds and free tea and coffee. Everything super clean and cared for. The hotel has recently been tastefully modernized. The food is very good and the employees are very friendly. They do everything to make you happy. The atmosphere is pleasant, especially because it is not whipped up; top quality is common here."

Sauerland Alpin Hotel

Sauerland Alpin Hotel

📍 An d. Almert 11, Schmallenberg

"Super sweet hotel, lovely team and great surroundings. We had such a nice 2-day stay, enjoyed the lovely food, had fun driving through the beautiful nature in a covered wagon and did a super nice guided morning walk through the pretty town."

Berghotel Hoher Knochen

Berghotel Hoher Knochen

📍 Hoher Knochen 1, Schmallenberg
★★★★ 8.6 (32 reviews)

"The Berghotel Hoher Knochen enjoys a prominent location on the Hoher Knochen mountain, offering excellent hiking opportunities and magnificent views of the Hochsauerland region. However, the stairs leading to the hotel entrance are insufficiently cleared in snowy weather. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, but some have windows that don't close. Furthermore, the soap dispensers in some bathrooms and some showers in the pool are empty. Even upon explicit request, the rooms are not cleaned or are cleaned very rarely, and the beds are not made, due to a lack of staff. The buckles on the provided bathrobes are all torn. Worn carpets can be found in the dining room and many other parts of the building. The three-course dinner does not correspond to a four-star hotel, neither in terms of selection nor in terms of quality ("commercial kitchen level"). The breakfast buffet has the problem that, due to a lack of staff, rolls, sausage, and cheese are not replenished or are replenished late. For four days in mid-November, there was no butter available, or only salted butter. Although the entire staff is friendly and helpful, the Berghotel Hoher Knochen is only a 3-star hotel by objective standards."

Landhotel Albers

Landhotel Albers

📍 Graf-Gottfried-Straße 2, Bodefeld
★★★ 8.8 (45 reviews)

"The bed was comfortable and made daily, though nothing special. The room’s furnishings were adequate, and it was well-ventilated and stayed cool despite the heat and lack of air conditioning. Unfortunately, cleanliness was a concern. The floors were not vacuumed, and the bathroom often smelled musty due to water leaking from a poorly closing shower. This also caused water damage on the bathroom door, which added to the unpleasant experience. While the room was otherwise comfortable, these maintenance and hygiene issues significantly affected our stay. The staff were often unfriendly and seemed reluctant to assist us. Upon arrival, we were wrongly blamed for not printing our voucher, even though the confirmation email explicitly stated that this was unnecessary. While the check-in process itself was quick once the voucher was emailed, the initial impression was off-putting. During meals, the service felt rushed and inattentive. Bread that our children had started eating at breakfast was charged to our account, without any prior warning. We also felt constantly monitored, and staff often placed dishes on the table before we had time to clear or arrange it properly. The coffee machine remained broken for several days, which was frustrating. Overall, the staff’s approach made us feel unwelcome and reluctant to stay in the hotel. The food was tasty and plentiful. However, there were limited options for children, and vegetables were not always available. While the quality of the meals was good, the lack of flexibility for children was disappointing. Although the surrounding area is very beautiful and added some enjoyment to our stay, our experience at the hotel itself was disappointing. The facilities were adequate, the room acceptable, and the food good, but recurring issues with staff behavior, room cleanliness, and maintenance overshadowed the positive aspects."

Hotel Deimann ★★★★★
"It is our t****th stay at the Deimann hotel. The hotel is located in the middle of an undulating landscape. It is a fantastic walking area: not too difficult and well signposted. In rainy weather there is a nice wellness area to fall back on. There is a car park near the hotel across the road. The welcome is warm: you take a seat in a lounge where you are offered (for example) a coffee while the reception lady gives the explanation and the luggage is taken to the room. We opted for half-board: a luxurious breakfast and a solid five-course menu in the evening. There is a choice of main course and a salad buffet. The menu of opened wines is sufficiently extensive and correctly priced. The staff is courteous, helpful and friendly. Speaking some German makes it easier. The vast majority of guests are from Germany itself. Since this year, a new part has been added to the wellness: "See terraces". It is an area with saunas, rest rooms and an "infinity pool" for adults. That zone is also "textile-free". That rooftop pool is wonderfully spacious and relaxing. This means that the crowds that used to be at the swimming pools are better spread."

Hotel Jagdhaus Wiese ★★★★
"We now have visited this hotel 13 times in the past 6 years. That should tell you everything. From the very first time it has been a true gem, a paradise to stay. Having visited many hotels over the world , nowhere did we find this atmosphere, this service. Family-run for years you feel the love and dedication of all people involved to make your stay optimal to your personal preferences. Surrounded by the woods the hotel itself is located in a beautiful park with meticulously kept flowerbeds , and is a very well thought of combination of new and older architecture. Several terasses, an intimate wellness area, exclusive rooms with a view at the park, and a great breakfast and diner. But most of all it is the great service , the warm welcome that is expressed by the couple that owns the hotel and by the staff. It all may sound as to good to be true and for us it is, but apparently not only for us as we met several guests who also visit Jagdhaus Wiese several times a year with their children, their parents , friends or just alone ."

Berghotel Hoher Knochen ★★★★
"We stayed here for a full week's vacation in the first week of August. Rarely in the Sauerland region, the weather cooperated, and so it was mostly nice. We had booked in the spring and got our preferred room, Room 89. This room is located in the Rothaarblick building, is a suite with a balcony and a wonderful view towards Westfeld and Ohlenbach. Check-in wasn't as we're used to at other hotels. We arrived at the hotel at midday, too early, and when I politely asked if the room was ready, the receptionist replied brusquely and snappily: Check-in only possible from 3:00 PM! The lady apparently didn't think it was appropriate to answer my question. Okay, but that's the only criticism of our stay at this hotel: the breakfast buffet was very good, the half-board evening meals were superb, and the quality of sleep was sensational due to the absolute peace and quiet. The owner's presence was exemplary, always approachable. The staff, without exception, were very friendly and helpful. I can only warmly recommend a stay here at the Hohe Knochen! bdzons"
