Shanghai Sun Island Resort

A resort exclusively located on an island in Qingpu, driving ourselves here was a fantastic experience. We could park our car right downstairs from our room, and the WeChat mini-program allowed us to easily locate various spots and navigate with one click, saving us the time of waiting for shuttle buses. What's more, the complimentary activity benefits were still valid after check-out. At check-out, the staff even made sure to check for any unused vouchers and reminded us that they remained valid. As an avid angler, on our first day, right after checking in, I went lure fishing (additional charge) until evening. The next morning, we visited the beach (one of three complimentary package options), played until noon, then checked out. Even after check-out, we still enjoyed the plant rubbing activity at the kids' club (complimentary with the package) and the family adventure park (additional charge, 20% discount for in-house guests). A tip: if you come on a weekday, not only will it be less crowded, but there are also various price discounts. We headed back in the evening, feeling thoroughly satisfied with the experience. Reviewing Family-Friendly Hotels: Entry #001 A fantastic short getaway! Although the island is quite large, the shuttle service made getting around incredibly convenient. We could quickly reach our room from the hotel lobby, and from our room to all the different activity areas. The drivers and all the staff were very friendly. Traveling with my child, I was deeply touched by how attentive the staff were; they helped me to the lobby entrance and handled my luggage with great care. This experience was truly wonderful. On the second floor of the lobby, there's an indoor playground – a perfect spot for kids to burn off energy. The beach features different zones with various activities, and there's even a sea lion show. The 'mini farm' was, as expected, quite small, but it offered plenty of activities for children, including swings, a sandpit, and climbing frames. It was pretty good, with both indoor and outdoor options.

Our stay in the My Little Pony themed family suite at Sun Island was truly fantastic! The room was filled with pink and purple My Little Pony elements; Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle were printed on the bedding and bedside lamps, making our child incredibly excited the moment they walked in. Thoughtful details included kid-sized slippers and a low-set sink. The beach playground was an even bigger highlight. The sand was fine and clean, and slides, sand toys, and My Little Pony inflatables kept our child happily occupied all afternoon; they simply didn't want to leave! Meanwhile, parents could relax on the shaded sun loungers. Our child had an absolute blast. This stay was absolutely flawless and has already become our top choice for our next family vacation. We look forward to returning for another fun-filled journey with My Little Pony!

I was very satisfied with the room; the overall cleanliness was excellent. The children's amenities were from the Pigeon brand, and the bathroom was spacious. There's a small balcony equipped with a retractable drying rack. I stayed in the Transformers-themed king room, which is very close to the beach. It was convenient to arrange transport from the room to various attractions. Just a small suggestion: since our room was on the second floor, carrying luggage up and down was a bit cumbersome. Perhaps some upgrades or renovations could be considered.

This resort hotel, conveniently located within Shanghai but feeling like a world away on its own secluded island, boasts incredibly polite local staff. We specifically opted for a sunroom in one of the older, unrenovated buildings. Each building has 16 rooms, and both the first and second-floor rooms come with identical small, square balconies. During our stay, we enjoyed the water park, kayaking, and the cat pavilion. There are also many other activities to suit individual preferences, such as a petting zoo, fishing, horse riding, a dedicated water play area for toddlers, various recreational activities, adult yoga classes, and children's crafts. The buffet breakfast truly astonished me. Having stayed in countless Ctrip 5-diamond hotels, I've grown accustomed to, even jaded by, their breakfast buffets. But today, at a local hotel, I was surprised to find authentic Xi'an roujiamo, Northwestern liangpi (cold noodles), mipi, various mini-pancakes, olive vegetable fried rice, and Shanghai fried noodles. The toddler-friendly water park is perfect for little ones who are new to swimming or a bit timid. The lazy river was very relaxing; however, the overhead water sprays were quite disorienting. I'd suggest wearing a straw hat to protect your ears and eyes from the water jets. For dining, there's the Peacock Chinese Restaurant and the Waterfall Western Restaurant; the latter boasts a superior ambiance. Combined with the hundred-acre farm-style restaurant just outside the hotel, all three main meals are conveniently covered. Shuttle services, including minibuses and electric vehicles, are available on demand. Surrounded by water on all sides, the natural environment is, needless to say, exceptional. If you have time, a bicycle tour around the island or even exploring it on foot would be a wonderful way to take it all in.

The room itself was nothing special. A significant drawback was the open-plan bathroom directly connected to the bed area. This meant any noise from showering or brushing teeth carried easily, disturbing anyone trying to rest. The water park was fantastic! Although not particularly large, it had everything perfect for young children. We've visited Atlantis Sanya many times; while their water park is vast with numerous attractions, honestly, many of them are too intense for us, and I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat myself. I even found the wave pool here more enjoyable. My daughter described how it started small, gradually got bigger and more thrilling, then stopped abruptly – she absolutely loved it! There were also sea lion and clown shows, and the caves along the lazy river were beautiful. There were plenty of other activities too. We tried the helicopter ride, horseback riding, ATV, and even got to pet cats. The indoor playground was also quite good. My daughter loved all these experiences. The only minor letdown was that kayaking wasn't available. We'll definitely be back next time!
