"The service attitude at check-in was not good, but the breakfast service was quite good. There were no laundry bags available, and the washing machine had issues with drying. The small wontons at breakfast were tasty, but the hot dishes weren't good. Overall, the stay experience was quite poor. The shuttle service to the ancient town scenic area (shared ride) is just for show; it didn't actually drop us off at the ancient town. The afternoon tea looked great in the pictures, but it was just a bottle of wine and some fruit, not the pastries shown. The cleaning lady was very polite, but overall, the front desk service was bad, and the value for money was very low. The package seemed to include a lot of things, but they were all just decorative and not useful."

The location is good; a 3-minute walk to Cangqiao Straight Street and a 5-minute walk to Lu Xun's Former Residence. There's a food street downstairs; I recommend the Magpie Noodles (super delicious) and the Private Fengwei Restaurant for authentic Shaoxing cuisine."

"This is my first review on Trip.com. The elevator was out of order on the day of check-in, and the front desk staff were difficult to reach. Regarding the internet issue, they sent a male engineer to a room full of female guests, where he stood idly for nearly twenty minutes without resolving the problem. He then proceeded to chat loudly in a group chat, completely ignoring the situation. It took almost an hour to fix a simple screen mirroring/internet issue! Most importantly, the hygiene was terrible. The windowsills and tabletops were covered in dust, and the blanket made me itch!"

"As a loyal Atour Hotels guest, I chose it again for my parents' trip to Shaoxing, and it truly exceeded my expectations! First off, the location is fantastic – we could walk directly to Lu Xun's former residence and Heping Bridge. Secondly, the service was excellent; upon hearing there were three of us, they proactively offered an extra breakfast. When we checked out, they even gave us a souvenir. Lastly, the room was incredibly quiet and very clean! Atour definitely remains my top hotel choice, and I'll continue to be a loyal customer!"

"After arriving, I first experienced the boat check-in. The hotel public area is not very large, but the greenery is good and the stone carving culture is rich. The housekeeper Allen communicated by phone and WeChat before check-in. Aunt Yuqiu from the housekeeping department was also very kind to the children. The overall experience was good."

"Every step is a new view! This resort hotel is definitely worth staying at. I was surprised to find a Wolfgang's here; I've eaten at the one in Shanghai, and for the price, the steaks are top-notch! Too bad it was closed for Chinese New Year this time. I ate at Shen Lu Chinese Restaurant a few times during the New Year period, and it was excellent! The hotel breakfast still has room for improvement. The Chinese noodles are freshly pulled by the chef on the spot and taste good, but the Western pastries are a bit lacking. I hope they can improve those."

The ice maker and drinking water dispenser on every floor are a very considerate convenience. The hygiene is excellent, and the service is warm and friendly. The room itself is spacious and offers a view of Mirror Lake, which makes for a pleasant stroll in the evening. Good value for money, highly recommended."

"The service was absolutely terrible, so bad that I had to call the police. Four or five people surrounded me, a customer, trying to grab my phone and even hit me. The problem stemmed from their terrible hotel system. Every time I drove out of the underground parking lot, it couldn't recognize my car. I asked them to fix it, but they kept delaying and making excuses for five days. They gave me a paper parking ticket, which meant I had to wait for security at the exit every time I drove out. Even when the security guard went to the restroom, I had to wait for at least ten minutes. They still hadn't resolved the issue after five days. I filmed it, and then four or five people rushed at me trying to grab my phone. Their attitude was extremely poor, and they were stingy. The washing machine on the second floor didn't have laundry detergent, so I asked the front desk to put it in the elevator. The front desk staff were incredibly rude and insisted I go to the front desk on the first floor to get the detergent. I will never go to this terrible hotel again."
The Green Hidden Wanjia Hui Resort Hotel (Shaoxing Lu Xun's Hometown Cangqiao Zhijie Store)
"I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel, and I'd definitely choose it again if I come back. I usually stay at chain hotels, but all the nearby Hantings, Orange Hotels, and Atours were either too old or had too many negative reviews. I tried this one for a night and immediately extended my stay for another four or five days. Pros: The facilities are new and complete, hygiene standards are met, the service is warm and well-trained, and the location is convenient. Although the bed is quite close to the door and you can hear people talking in the corridor, luckily it was off-season so it wasn't too crowded or noisy. I could tell the hotel had already addressed soundproofing issues; the door is quite thick and heavy. I'd recommend choosing a room on a higher floor, on the inner side, not an end room, for a great experience. They also offer welcome fruit daily (though it wasn't always fresh one day), and I received a welcome gift on the first day. Cangqiao Zhijie street is just a 5-minute walk away, and within 2km there are shopping malls and the Lu Xun Native Place scenic area. Food delivery is plentiful and fast, and almost every time, the robot delivered my order right after it arrived. The service attitude is excellent; much better trained than many newly opened hotels. The staff are enthusiastic and proactive, and any issues communicated via WeChat were resolved immediately. I was really impressed with the cleanliness; in all these days, I didn't find any bugs except for one fly. Cons: The overhead shower in the bathroom had a slightly chaotic spray, splashing everywhere, and it was directly facing the door crack, so the floor outside would get wet every time I showered. On the last day, the air conditioner's warm air had a slight odor. It would be helpful if there were 'Do Not Disturb' or 'Make Up Room' signs to hang on the doorknob (I didn't see any electronic ones). This way, the hotel would know guest preferences without prior communication, and housekeepers wouldn't need to knock to ask if a room didn't need cleaning. The cleaning staff, however, were still very responsible."

"The hotel has a great location, less than one kilometer from the former residence of the Calligrapher Sage and the Eight-Character Bridge, and no more than two kilometers from the former residence of Lu Xun and Xixiaolu, all within walking distance. Shaoxing is perfect for exploring its streets and alleys. The room was clean and satisfactory, the washer and dryer worked well, the breakfast was plentiful, and the service was good. The only drawback was the limited storage space in the room; there was no desk."

"I can sense this is a team that's genuinely trying hard and eager to improve. They've clearly put in a lot of effort, but their professionalism isn't quite up to par. For example, they offered hand sanitizers and sour plum 'soup' (which appeared to be a bottled drink, not homemade), and a butler reached out prior to our arrival. I might be more lenient with my expectations if the price wasn't so high. But for five-star hotel pricing, I'd expect a much higher degree of professionalism. The first room we were given had been recently renovated, and the pungent smell was so overwhelming it made my eyes water immediately. It was genuinely unsuitable for occupation. They should either air out such rooms properly or clearly state the renovation date online, allowing guests to make an informed choice. The staff promptly moved us to a new suite, claiming it was their most expensive one. Honestly, if it hadn't been so late, I would have refused to stay even there, as the facilities were poorly maintained: the carpet was dirty, the toilet seat was askew, the TV was crooked, the sofa had stains, and to top it all off, a cockroach scurried out while I was washing my face, which completely put me off taking a shower. While I can understand the presence of insects in areas with a rich natural environment, cockroaches are a different matter entirely. The living room sink was stained yellow. Breakfast, however, seemed thoughtfully prepared. It was individually portioned, with a few shared side dishes – not a vast selection, but certainly sufficient. Therefore, cleanliness and in-room facility maintenance are areas that urgently need improvement. On a positive note, the natural surroundings were beautifully maintained, with lush greenery visible from the terrace. Even when my stay is uncomfortable, I rarely leave reviews. However, in this case, I felt compelled to because I observed genuine efforts from the team, and given the prices they charge, they clearly hold themselves to a high standard. I truly hope they continue to improve."

"The room was very clean and spacious, with good lighting. The service was excellent; the front desk even provided hot bottled water, and the breakfast was delicious. When I first arrived, the receptionist thoughtfully put a protective cover on my ID card 🥺🥺🥺. The hotel's location is also great, perfectly matching my impression of a Jiangnan water town."

"When visiting Shaoxing, I chose this Holiday Inn Express, initially worried that a chain hotel might be too generic. But it turned out to be a really great choice! The breakfast buffet offered freshly cooked noodles, fried eggs, bread, and coffee. After a good meal, it was only about a 10-odd yuan taxi ride to Lu Xun's former residence. I left my luggage at the front desk, which made exploring so much easier. The staff (the lady at the front desk) was also very helpful!"
