3-Star Hotels in Grindelwald

"The hotel is very conveniently located and has a distinct youth hostel vibe. The service was excellent, and the breakfast spread was comprehensive. Free parking is available. However, there were a few downsides: The rooms are quite small, and our window directly overlooked a building under construction, so there was absolutely no view to speak of. For a better view and good food, I'd recommend trying the second floor of the restaurant located outside the hotel. Room amenities were basic: no slippers, the bathroom lacked a proper door, there was no fridge or safe, and no toothbrushes were provided. The toiletries were a 3-in-1 combo, so you'll definitely need to bring your own conditioner – fortunately, I had picked some up from my previous hotel. There's a train station right outside the hotel, but trains to popular destinations like Lauterbrunnen don't depart from here; I'm not sure where this particular station goes. On the bright side, it's very close to the Jungfraujoch cable car station, just a few hundred meters' walk away. The hotel has ample and spacious parking spots. The hotel's own restaurant only serves breakfast and is not open for lunch or dinner. Tip: If you're booking, try to secure a front-facing room with a balcony. These are slightly larger, and you can sit and enjoy the outside view. I don't recommend the side rooms without balconies, as they are very close to the construction site and can feel quite claustrophobic. The staff were very friendly and kindly provided free public transport cards and chocolates, which was a nice gesture. Laundry facilities are available, and detergent is provided. Both washing and drying each cost 5 CHF per cycle. The overall facilities are relatively basic. There's a drink machine on the ground floor, but it only sells Red Bull. The room floors are concrete, the ceilings are wood, and the rooms are quite low-ceilinged. My biggest dissatisfaction was the Wi-Fi. To connect to the hotel's 'free' Wi-Fi, authentication was required, asking for a Chinese mobile number. However, I couldn't receive the verification code. The other option was 'free time claim', but it demanded entering detailed credit card information. I found this utterly confusing and unacceptable. Having stayed in so many hotels, this was the first time I've encountered 'free' Wi-Fi that requires credit card details. Ultimately, I did not use it."

"The hotel has an excellent location, just an 8-minute walk from Grindelwald Station. Go down the mountain and walk for 15 minutes to the Terminal. After that, you can take the crane up to the Jungfrau Peak and start your climbing journey. Or you can leave the station and stay on the mountainside and walk for 15 minutes to take the crane up to First Mountain. This time I stayed in a triple room (with an elderly person traveling with me). The interior space was acceptable and not too cramped. There are many windows, so open the curtains and enjoy the beautiful scenery! Awesome! ! ! Breakfast is served from 0700 to 1000. There are not many varieties, but there is white rice and fried rice (extra points!) There are basic facilities in the room, including a hairdryer and no hot water boiler, but the electricity is low and the lights are dim. Completely experience the style of staying in a cabin in the Swiss mountains. Staff service is ok, could be more welcoming 😬 All in all, I had a good stay this time! My personality was ok! Recommended to everyone!"

"Located quite far uphill and far from train station, you will rely on bus 122 to reach / leave the hostel, which only operates until around 6pm. The view from the hostel is not bad, with quite a large outdoor area. The building itself is an old wooden structure and it is very easy to hear the noise from other rooms. Only two toilets / shower rooms per gender per floor but so far it is ok. Just be reminded that there is no individual electric socket for each bed and the lamp above the bed does not seem to work."

"It was a truly delightful stay. The room had a fantastic view, with a fantastic view of the hillside and snow-capped mountains in the distance. The First Mountain cable car station was about a 10-minute walk away. The front desk was very friendly, and the room was warm, clean, and tidy. The breakfast was also quite varied, and the bread and cheese were highly recommended! My mom even said the bread was the best we've had at any hotel in Europe. The price was also quite good compared to other similar hotels. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Grindelwald!"

"The hotel was located in the middle of the hill, just like many of the hotels in Grindelwald. There was free bus in the area so it was easy getting up and down. Yet, the bus service stops at around 6 or 7pm, and you will have to walk up the hill from the train station for about 20 minutes. Also, potentially because it was in the middle of the mountain or it was winter, it felt very dry in the middle of the night. It would be nice if there can be a humidifier in the room. However, the view of the room is absolutely worth it. You can look at mountains like Eigerblick just from your room and the breakfast buffet, and it is extremely breathtaking. The breakfast buffet included was decent, with fruits, bread, cereal, some hot food and drinks. In particular the eggs were very nicely done. The bathroom looks a bit old-fashioned and narrow, with slightly insufficient lighting, but overall it was clean and good. The service was generally good. We were greeted with great smiles and friendliness by the reception and staff at the breakfast buffet. Overall it was an amazing stay and I would recommend it:)"

"Extraordinary experience! The room has a large balcony with a stunning view of snow mountains. Bed is clean and soft. Some chocolates and coffee are included. Basic amenities like towels, body wash, shampoo, hair dryer and slippers are included! Location is particularly awesome, exactly next to Grindelwald station. You literally step in the hotel right after you get off from your train. Breakfast is typical but well-served. Staff are very nice and provide clear guidance."

"The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They are very patient to answer all our questions and assist us to book the ticket to the Jungfraujoch. Breakfast was nice. We have our dinner at their restaurant as well. The food was great, we were very much enjoy it. I love the onion soup. Of course, the waitress also very nice. There is no refrigerator and no hot water. Shampoo is only given to each person in a small pack, but when we stayed for two days, it was not enough. I tried to go downstairs for two days hoping to get two more sachets of shampoo, but no one paid attention to me. I went to the restaurant to look for them because the clerk had to take care of the restaurant work, and there were too many customers and they were too busy and had a bad attitude. They called me. I stand here waiting for 5 minutes, but I don’t have the patience to wait at all. The next morning I wanted to get shampoo and the situation was still the same. Finally, I can’t wash my hair Breakfast is good, the dining table has been set up in advance, the breakfast area is elegantly decorated, warm and cozy, you can try Swiss-style ham and omelettes, it is really sincere, I give it full marks for breakfast Some of the waiters have very good attitudes, but some are really impatient, and the quality of individual staff varies  , the location is very good and it should get a higher score. Overall, I give it 3.5 to 4 points. If you get a newly renovated room, the score will be higher. As for the attitude of the staff. There were one or two of them, and the others were all very enthusiastic, especially an older woman, who was worried that we didn't have enough eggs and said she could give them more. In short, the staff are very different, so it is difficult for me to make a conclusion about this hotel."
