On arrival we met a driver with a sign with our names, which was very convenient. There was a big queue at the customs office and we went out almost the last, but the driver waited for us, which says a high level of service. He took us to the hotel and it was very comfortable. At the hotel we met a wonderful girl named Mio who immediately helped us buy a local SIM card, the driver took us to the communications salon. It was very convenient as the connection was necessary for further travel. Throughout our stay, Mio answered all our questions, making our stay even more pleasant. Breakfasts were not only delicious, but also very interesting, reflecting local culture. They were served with great attention to detail. Every day they offered a variety of dishes that allowed us to try traditional treats. The hotel itself is located on the territory of the banned city of Datun and is made in Chinese style, which adds a special atmosphere. The room was stylish and comfortable. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the excellent service in this hotel! I would especially like to note Mio, who provided invaluable assistance with the transfer to the railway station during our departure and took it by private car. It really made our journey more comfortable. It was especially nice to receive a small gift when eviction a set of aroma tea. It was very unexpected and pleasant! While the ancient streets and alleys outside are lively, the courtyard is peaceful and serene. After visiting Huayan Temple and the Prince Dai's Mansion, you can relax in the courtyard, enjoying the breeze and taking beautiful photos. The owner's thoughtfulness is a major plus. They provide free pick-up service from the high-speed rail station. With my elderly relatives carrying a lot of luggage, they were waiting on time and helped with the luggage the whole time. They even proactively recommended gentler routes suitable for seniors, saving us the trouble of planning the trip ourselves. The rooms were very clean and tidy, with meticulous attention to hygiene. The breakfast was also excellent – ​​clean, delicious, and our elders were very satisfied, significantly enhancing our travel experience! The guesthouse has a fantastic location, very close to Huayan Temple, Foxiaoban Cultural and Creative Park, and the Prince Dai's Mansion. They also helped us order food and gave great recommendations, which made our trip so much easier. The room itself was surprisingly high tech, with a fun sound control system that made the stay even more enjoyable. Although the room is on Level 2 with no lift, the host kindly carried our luggage up during check in and brought it down again when we checked out. Their helpfulness really made a difference. Breakfast was lovely — nutritious, tasty, and just the right kind of start before heading out to explore. Overall, we felt very welcomed and well taken care of. Stepping out, you're right on Gulou East Street, perfect for exploring, and Southeast Yi is just a few minutes' walk away. Despite its bustling street location, the guesthouse's courtyard offers surprising tranquility. We slept soundly through the night and woke up naturally, completely undisturbed. The owner and the housekeeper were incredibly thoughtful and attentive. They were always ready to answer any questions, from before our arrival until our departure, and their responses were always very detailed. Every day, the housekeeper would kindly ask us what time we'd like breakfast the next morning, and at the agreed time, she'd even come to our room door to let us know it was ready. I absolutely adored it!!! If I ever visit again, I would definitely choose Yishui Street.

The north gate area is quiet, and it's an easy stroll to the ancient city center. The room was clean and tidy with excellent facilities. What impressed me most was the bed – the mattress was just right, not too soft and not too hard; once I lay down, I didn't want to get up. I later learned that the owner truly invests in their bedding. The tea room was my favorite spot every day. Brewing a pot of tea and reading a book, with the silhouette of the ancient city wall outside the window, that sense of tranquil relaxation amidst the hustle and bustle is something I hadn't experienced in a long time. I must particularly praise the service. The owner hadn't eaten after returning from the Hanging Temple late at night, and one of the staff members ran out to buy instant noodles for him. These small details really warm your heart. The free pick-up service was hassle-free, and the owner even helped me book a reservation at Fenglin Pavilion. The welcome fruit and snacks were also perfectly arranged. The inn allows pets without any extra charge. Although I was traveling alone this time, seeing other guests with their dogs sunbathing in the courtyard felt incredibly heartwarming. The biggest fear when traveling alone is staying somewhere desolate, but here, the elegance of the designer courtyard, the warmth of the housekeeper, and the tranquility of the ancient city wall made me feel incredibly well taken care of. Next time I bring my family to Datong, I will definitely choose this place again.

It was also easy to reach all the eateries on my must-try list, such as Longjuxiang, Zini 369, Heshengcai, and Xijindao Snacks, and I managed to check them all off! I passed by Kuixing Tower and its wishing doll countless times; perhaps it was fate, haha 😄. For those who are too lazy to even walk a kilometer, there are shared bikes available. The owner is incredibly welcoming; they contacted me half a day in advance, added me on WeChat, and waited for me at the entrance. They went over all the important details and even asked about my breakfast preferences for the next day. The breakfast itself was perfectly portioned, exquisite, and nutritious. This place exceeded my expectations, another big thumbs up! Choosing this accommodation has made me even more excited for future solo travels. I hope the owner's business thrives, and I look forward to returning with my child and family sometime in the future for another visit.

The front desk had fruit and candies, and the service was genuinely great. If any friends are coming to Datong, Shanxi, I highly recommend staying at the Ailai Hotel. Even the name is well-chosen – it truly makes you 'love to come' (ài lái)!

The location of the hotel is perfect. It is the right place to stay when visiting the Hanging Temple and Jin Temple. The room and bed are large, especially suitable for bringing children. It is no problem for a family of three to stay in a big bed. The bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas. The breakfast is also very good. Overall, it is very cost-effective.

The hotel has very spacious and comfortable rooms. The breakfast is only Chinese, but rich and plentiful. We can't comment on the location because we always took taxis to the attractions around Datong (the wooden pagoda, hanging monasteries, and the Yungang Grottoes), but right next to the hotel are plenty of restaurants and places to grab a quick bite. The staff seemed helpful, but no one spoke English, so we had to use a translation app, which wasn't always accurate, and communication was somewhat hampered.
