YHA Thredbo ★★★
"I really loved this hostel! I booked a room the day before and let them know I'd be arriving very late. The receptionist told me I could pick up the keys from the safe near the hostel entrance. I arrived at 10 PM, opened the safe, took out my room key, a note with my room number, a village map with parking, and a letter with the hostel rules. I was alone in a quadruple room and could choose any bed! The room was clean, the beds and doors didn't creak! The shared showers were also very clean! The hostel was very quiet; at 10 PM, there were two guests in the kitchen watching TV. The kitchen area was very clean, perfectly tidy, everything was in its place and labeled! In the morning, we had breakfast, and there were two or three guests in the kitchen. The receptionist came in the morning and was very friendly. Parking was easy; at the entrance to the village, there are signs indicating the daytime and free overnight parking. The parking locations would be clear to any foreigner like me. It's a 5-10-minute walk from the parking lot to the hostel. Only the laziest people want to drive right up to the hostel door. Deer wander around the hotel at night. It's probably very crowded during the colder months, but in January it's very quiet and cozy. I really liked the hostel; it was reasonably priced and immaculately clean! I stayed in a similar hostel in Sydney, but for that price, the kitchen was filthy and there were a lot of guests in the hostel. If I ever come to Australia again, I'll definitely stay at YHA Thredbo!"

Candlelight Lodge ★★★
"Solo trip, used this lodge as a base for Mt Kosciuszko hike. I can only describe my stay here as bizarre, starting with the check-in process. When I arrived, there was no-one at reception, but there was a note saying that the reception was staffed from 3 to 6 pm. I did manage to find a very junior staff member who gave me the key to my room, but she had no information about anything - apparently she'd only been working there for a very short time. There was still no-one at reception at 3:30 or 4 pm, so I went looking for staff who could explain how everything worked - parking, meals, or even the small things like the heater in the room. Managed to find a guy who worked in the kitchen; he did explain to me about the overnight village car parks and also said that breakfast the next morning would start at 7:30 am. The car park explanation was certainly helpful. But the breakfast information turned out to be incorrect - there was no breakfast at the lodge restaurant the next morning; in fact, as it transpired, the restaurant was completely shut all day that day. Very strange that a person working in the kitchen would not know that. This pretty much captures my experience with this place - there was simply no-one around to show the guests where everything was. The only time I ever saw anyone at reception was 1 minute prior to my departure. There was restaurant staff at the dinner service on the first night, but they didn't have any information about the hotel itself. For example, it turned out that there was a pretty decent sauna at the lodge, but I only discovered it by chance on my last night, too late to use it. Had I known about it earlier, I certainly would have used it. The car spaces by the front door were meant to be used for loading and unloading only; but because there was no staff to keep an eye on it, people were simply parking there long-term, which made loading on the day of the departure a logistical challenge. On Day 2 the lodge looked like a complete ghost town, with no staff to be found anywhere, and no-one even to ask what food establishments were open in the village. As I mentioned before, I did see someone at the reception on the morning of my departure - literally only when I handed my key in. She took the key hurriedly and didn't even bother to ask how my stay was. The absence of any hotel staff for most of my stay, and their complete lack of interest when they were there, made it a really bizarre experience."
Winterhaus Lodge ★★★
"Julie and Greg were wonderful, genuine and warm hearted hosts, they were extremely accommodating - above and beyond! The lodge was very comfortable, tidy, cosy and clean. Showers were hot, bathrooms have been updated in recent years. The complimentary breakfast options were well catered for: yoghurt, fruit, toast, cereal options and croissants! The cosy fire and lounge area was particularly special with fantastic views. Would highly recommend."
Aneeki Ski Lodge ★★★
"Best place to stay with family, hope the rooms would be little bit more specious. Loved the lounge and the kitchen area."
Bernti's Mountain Inn ★★★
"Writing this review on behalf of my . Extremely disappointed and feel totally ripped off. For the price I paid, I expected a nicely refurbished standard room at the very least, knowing that it is peak snow season, however I was faced with a room that was not even worth 1/10 of what I paid. It is a very old style with lack of any comfort and space. This room has been closed in from an outside balcony. Considering the room should accommodate people staying for more than 1 night, it lacks basics such as storage. There are no drawers not even a basic suitcase stand. My suitcase had to sit on the floor which I have to keep stepping over. Thankfully I’m alone despite the room being for 2 adults. Thank God my wife is not with me! The wardrobe is not big enough to store all of my things. It is very average thin walls and no double glazing. I can hear all the noises outside. It is certainly a very deceiving ad. I am extremely gutted that I’ve paid thousands of dollars to stay here for 5 night. To add salt to the wound you have to pay $100 a night to park your car! The room itself is not even worth that per night. fortunately the manager let me park my car for a short time to bring my luggage in, but even that was not offered. I had to actually ask. Look elsewhere if you can! other rooms are perhaps nicer but considering what I paid, you would be paying a bomb to stay in a better room.. This place is just fully taking the piss never again"
The Denman Hotel in Thredbo ★★★★
