I can't believe I'm having to write such a terrible review about somewhere which looks like it could be so amazing! Greeted with a credit card machine and a disagreement about who should be taking my payment was not the nicest way to arrive. Everything was about the cost... would i like breakfast at £8.99 each day? "Do you offer continental breakfast?" "We do toast!" And then when I said OK no thank you, (I just have a pain au choc or a croissant) was then told the entire list of what is in their Full English. Very strange. I was physically struggling with my big case after they finished bickering about why was taking payment and even told the lady on the desk it was going to be hard - but no offer of anyone available to help me go up the huge staircase. From there it went to Stained duvets 1 Feather-thin sheet with holes laid over a twin bed.( I booked a superior double/ queen) Dripping tap in the bathroom with a piece missing. Luke warm shower, it did not turn any higher in temperature. No back on theTV remote. No instructions for turning the heater on when I was shivering coming out of a like warm shower. The worst part of my 2-night stay was that my room was next door to a family room with a poor child screaming intermittently late at night and again very early in the morning. I have 3 young children and would be mortified if i had been aware of the lack of any soundproofing for the guest next door when your child is unsettled. My room was also directly opposite a church bell, along a main road. WHY? There must have been just 3 bookings that night. Why put any of us there at all?? The bell chimes every single half hour throughout the whole night!!!... and when you reach midnight you are just praying for the single loud chime of 1 am!! When you reach approx 6am. It chimes every 15 mins!! You also get to hear everything outside through the old drafty sash windows with late night revelers to buses etc. I was exhausted and had just 30 mins sleep on night 1. Went to collect my car in the morning without breakfast (car park opposite at £7 a day) and drove straight to the supermarket to buy ear plugs! Night 2 the bells were muffled as i put my newly purchased ear plugs in, I had figured out how to turn the heater on and I *****ped the bed and placed the blanket under the micro-thin sheet so I wouldn't feel the button covers on the mattress and I'd be warmer by placing the spare stained duvet over the actual thin duvet. I never saw any menber of staff at the desk after i checked in and it wasn't until I was leaving on day 3 that I checked my billing and went to hand the key in to see that my breakfast has been charged in my check in bill!! They actually owe me £18 and a great deal of time and sleep! If you want to stay in Amesbury, please do not attempt to stay here unless you are a very heavy sleeper, enjoy no help or any courtesy.... and enjoy a luke warm shower and a very very tired room, bed and feeling in the morning!
