Location & Comfort: It’s centrally located but feels like living in a private "garden home." It has everything you could possibly need. "Rather than get up very early to catch a train from Cusco up to Machu Picchu we stayed in this charming hotel walking distance to the train station at Ollantaytambo. The added bonus is that it gives you a chance to acclimatize to altitude as it is lower than Cusco. The main square with many restaurants is again walking distance as are the impressive ruins. The hotel has beautiful gardens and we were lucky enough to have the weather to enjoy them. There were plenty of birds including lovely hummingbirds. Our room was large, quiet and warm with two radiators. My only criticism would be that the bathroom was chilly as it had single glazing but didn’t have a radiator."

"⸻ “A Warm Welcome That Sadly Faded” We arrived last night and received a lovely warm welcome — the dinner was excellent, and the restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, breakfast the next morning felt very different. The atmosphere among the staff was tense, and when I approached reception, the lady at the desk didn’t acknowledge us until I spoke first. Her responses were curt and unhelpful, which left us feeling unwelcome. Such a shame, as it’s a beautiful hotel with great potential — but it’s the people who truly make the experience special."
