While the voucher made the stay affordable, I was surprised that some of these perks weren’t clearly communicated or easy to access. For instance, the midnight snacks and bar offerings weren’t highlighted during check-in, and I ended up not utilizing them fully—a missed opportunity to enjoy the package’s full value. I only used the airport transfer voucher. It was quite easy to pre-book the airport pickup. The hotel itself meets standard expectations: functional rooms, a decent breakfast, and a laundry service. However, the service felt a bit detached. Staff were polite but somewhat aloof (“very cool” in demeanor), offering minimal proactive assistance. A warmer approach or a quick rundown of included amenities during arrival would’ve made a difference. The lingering smoke smelt was a bit disappointing. The hotel was further from the metro station. Overall this hotel was a practical choice, there were a variety of food options for morning breakfast, we have a good stay here.

This was the worst experience of our 20-plus-day trip to Xinjiang, and the only one that received a negative review. Traffic restrictions at the hotel weren't announced in advance, forcing us to detour for over an hour in Xi'an's congested traffic. Since we hadn't applied for a permit in advance, we repeatedly tried to negotiate with the traffic police for clearance, but each officer kept telling us to keep driving until a permit was issued. This forced us to choose between dining and sightseeing. After a nine-hour detour from Lanzhou to Xi'an, we could only take a photo of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the hotel hallway upon leaving. Upon arrival, I didn't intend to argue, but the front desk clerk pulled out the call logs and told me they'd contacted me at noon that day using a virtual number with coordinates from another city. The call didn't go through, so they didn't inform me. When I questioned them, they explained they were busy and had forgotten to call back. It's hard to imagine a Marriott hotel omitting such crucial information. The matter seemed to be over, but upon entering the room, I discovered the hotel had assigned me an interior window room with a computer room view (see Figure 1), which didn't match the pictures or description. I'd booked two rooms, one to each side of the computer room, which was truly infuriating. After Ctrip negotiated with me, they offered to send me two fruit plates. I don't know how they handled this perfunctory approach. After I declined, Ctrip negotiated again and upgraded one of the rooms. Because the other room only had twin beds, my family didn't change. It's a newly opened hotel, and the facilities are fine. The odor is mild and not a big deal, and the cleanliness is fine. However, if you're driving or are concerned about the computer room view, I recommend asking before booking; the hotel doesn't usually require advance notification.
