"We enjoyed a 2 night stay at the hotel La Mitigana. The room was very comfortable, breakfast buffet offer was excellent and the staff extremely welcoming. They even provided a delicious cold meal for us when we discovered the dining room was fully booked one lunch time and then closed for Sunday evening. We would definitely be happy to stay there again."

"Ended up here after a perilous snow adventure with the car through the Yonne. Knocked late, but received very friendly despite our late and unannounced visit. A delicious cheese and charcuterie platter in our room with a glass of Chablis was also possible and very well taken care of!"

"Booking made in April for the end of August (a trip to celebrate my 60th birthday with my partner). I received a confirmation email in April. Everything seemed to be going smoothly. Then, disaster struck: I received a vague voicemail message followed by a written one at the end of July, first informing me of overbooking (voicemail) and then stating that the hotel was closed for the dates of my reservation (email). The hotel only reacted more than three months after my booking to tell me they couldn't accommodate us! This is unprofessional. In short, no room for us. Is the hotel really closed at the end of August (in the middle of peak tourist season???) Or was there a mistake with the booking? Obviously, our desire to visit the area has been dampened! Furthermore, there has been no response to my written request for an explanation. Respectful business practices dictate contacting customers. Disgusted, I cancelled our stay (should I find another hotel at the last minute???). To top it all off, I received a satisfaction survey in early September for this very stay we were prevented from taking. Is this a provocation or just incompetence? This is what prompted me to write this rant, even though I don't like to complain about professionals. But this is starting to get ridiculous…"

"Set in nature, this Chateau is an absolute delight. My wife, adult daughter and I loved every minute here. It was hard to leave! Both the dinner and breakfast we enjoyed while there were beyond first class--so delicious, and the service was the best of our two weeks in France. We loved the staff! We stayed in what appeared to be the carriage house--it was wonderful. The beds, living area and bathroom could not have been better. Chateau de Vault-de-Lugny is truly a special place."

"The hotel had spacious rooms with large bathrooms and views of the spectacular countryside. Woke up to birds singing...no traffic sounds! Everything was within walking distance up the hill to the cathedral from which there was a view that went on for miles. The first night there was the new chef's first night working there. What a variety of dishes from mackerel to chicken to pork to fish to desserts to die for. Cheeses and breads during the late afternoons on the front veranda were fun with drinks from the hotel bar. Kir Royal was delicious!! This by far was my favorite spot in France, including hotel and its dining room, supermarket with wine and cheeses, town and surrounding hills."

"A real gem. We stayed 4 nights in one of the 2-story bedroom townhouses near the pool. The property is spectacular. The pool warm. The staff friendly and helpful. A great breakfast and the location is superb for touring Burgundy. We did day drives to Vezelay with its beautiful church at the top of the hill (yes, walk up), Fontenay Abbey, Chablis, Avallon and the beautiful town of Auxerre only 15 minutes away. Dinner is available at the Chateau by reservations some evenings but we went into Auxerre each evening to walk around and dine."
