The hotel has a great location, and the staff are very friendly. When I reported insects in my room, the staff responded quickly and helped resolve the issue – excellent!
The restaurant offers buffet breakfast and dinner; the food is good, and there's a wide selection of drinks.
Located a convenient 10 minute walk from Yufuin station, Sansuikan is a great option if you're looking to treat yourself for a night. There are free flow snacks and drinks (including alcohol) in the lobby, and the dinner and breakfast are all-you-can-eat buffet style, also with free flow drinks. There are two onsens, M/F on the 1st/2nd floor and they swap service twice daily. Both floors have outdoor onsen (rotenburo) but the 1st floor onsen is much larger and includes a sauna. Do note the buffet signages were in Japanese only, so you may need to approach the staff for assistance if you aren't fluent. (Their staff are fluent in English.) Overall I was quite impressed with the experience for the price point. Would come back next time 😊

Conveniently located near the train station. The dinner buffet is excellent but the breakfast is just so so.
The hotel offers a drop-off service to the JR station. While it's quite close, this service is incredibly helpful when you have a lot of luggage. Our room offered excellent views of Mount Yufu. The absolute highlight was dinner: there was a vast selection of seafood, beef, and sushi, and most importantly, everything was delicious. They also had plenty of fresh fruit and sake. Additionally, drinks and snacks were available.
## Yufuin Sansuikan - A North Kyushu Trip
We took a bus from Beppu to Yufuin. The JR station is conveniently located directly across the street from the Beppu Hatto Hotel. From there, you can walk through the JR station's waiting area to bus stop #1. Bus #36 takes you directly to Yufuin. The fare is 1100 JPY; you take a numbered ticket when you board and pay upon exiting. Buses are frequent, and the journey takes approximately an hour.
Upon arrival, the hotel is an easy 10-minute walk using Google Maps.
For an alternative, the renowned Yufuin no Mori train also runs from Beppu to Yufuin, though advance reservations are highly recommended if you wish to experience it.
Standard check-in time at Japanese hotels is 3 PM. Guests can drop off their luggage first and then explore Yufuin.
Yufuin Sansuikan boasted the largest room among the four hotels we stayed at during this trip, though its decor was also the most dated. Online, I saw prices for the hotel exceeding 4,000 RMB per night during Chinese New Year, which is incredibly poor value for money. Honestly, even at the price we paid, I found it a bit overpriced.
Due to North Kyushu's proximity to Korea, there's a significant presence of Korean tourists, particularly noticeable in Yufuin. Overall, my impression was that North Kyushu primarily attracts Korean, *********, Hong Kong, and Shanghainese visitors.
The hotel's public onsens are located on the first and second floors; there are no private baths. The women's bath rotates, being on the second floor in the evening and the first floor in the morning. The first-floor onsen is slightly larger than the second, and both feature outdoor rotenburo (open-air baths).
Complimentary refreshments are available from 3 PM until 10 AM the following day, including a selection of beverages, ice cream, snacks, tea, and coffee. Beer and other alcoholic drinks are also offered in the evenings.
In summary, Yufuin Sansuikan is generally an average option. It could be considered if you need a place to stay for one night in Yufuin.
The hotel's location is superb, just a ten-minute walk from the train station. A picturesque riverside path runs directly behind it, offering easy access to various attractions, including the main lake (whose name currently escapes me). The lakeside is adorned with cherry blossom trees, and I'm already planning to return for a longer stay during next year's cherry blossom season. Both the hotel's breakfast and dinner were incredibly lavish, including a wide array of alcoholic beverages, as well as Wagyu beef and sashimi. The onsen (hot spring bath) was wonderfully relaxing and spotlessly clean. Yufuin is truly a delightful small town that we'd love to revisit time and time again.
Good location , clean and tidy, the buffet dinner food is delicious and many choices! The staffs are nice and friendly, provide soft drinks and ice creams full day.
View from both the room and outside is very nice. When I went the sakuras were blooming. The hot spring experience was very authentic and great (it's got views of mountains during the day). Overall a very traditional experience and I feel that it's intentionally designed to be less modern. For example, using physical keys for rooms instead of cards. One last thing I would nitpick about is the meals. The buffet is the same everyday (both breakfast and dinner) so I probably wouldn't stay here for more than 2 days.

I absolutely loved the stunning mountain views and the hot springs downstairs.
Super nice views ( choose one with Mountain View) and delicious breakfast and dinner with free flow of beer and wine. Free snacks and drinks at lobby which also has massage chairs.
