This is an old building near the waterfront. The sounds of seagulls can be heard outside; great atmosphere!
The building itself has kind of claustrophobic feel to it. It has small rooms, low ceilings, narrow, winding stairways, and sloping floors. If open and airy is your preference, this is the wrong place.
But the staff are very capable and friendly. It’s a short walk from both the ferry port and the train station. Hope to visit again.
perfect in every way, location, breakfast, spacious room...especially impressed by the wonderful people working in the reception, Irina particularly makes us cyclists feel more than welcome..
The gentle man at day time check in was a ray of sunshine!
Made me feel right at home and had amazing energy! Just wish I could extend checkout on the day as other competitors do!
All the service staff were very enthusiastic, the check-in time was exceeded when the flight was delayed, but the staff delayed after communication and waited for me to arrive, and the breakfast was great!

I really admire Alex as a hotel practitioner so perfect for taking care of the family hotel! This comment is not to write a simple clean and tidy, good service, good location to express my feelings! I want to say that the layout is very special, very artistic, fully utilized all resources but not crowded, everywhere reflects the high taste and intention of the operator! At the time of the tourism industry has not yet recovered, Alex provides guests with a variety of food and beverage experience. He has great kindness! So this is a highly recommended family hotel! I will come back again!

We stayed for one night and found the hotel to be decent overall. While it wasn’t luxurious, it met our basic needs comfortably. The standout feature is definitely the location—absolutely fantastic and convenient for getting around. Great for a short stay if you’re looking to be close to everything.
My wife and l spent a delightful 3 nights in this lovey unique house with Japanese themed garden. Our room was clean and well equipped.
Rod is an excellent host and made us very welcome. He also provided a very good breakfast.
Highly recommend.

XXRMThis was genuinely a wonderful and most special place.
The Rocksalt Rooms are in a separate building to the Restaurant - but you check in at the latter and walk you over. Note all the streets here are cobbled, which can be slippery when wet.
They are a real BoltHole as they are described, and there are only four total. 2 on 1st floor, 2 on 2nd floor, with one per floor harbour facing. I'd definitely suggest that the upgrade is worth it.
The rooms are compact but exceptionally well presented. I've odd little niggles, theres no bedside of any kind - floating shelf would work, where do you put your mobile? And the metal bed frame is ornate and was loose on the footboard.
The biggest challenge is where to put things. There are a few hangers on the back of the door and a small set of hooks, but not a drawer or proper place at all. I get space is a real premium here - bedside with 2 drawers all you need!
The wet room is compact as everyone says. You won't keep the floor area outside the shower dry, it's not possible. The sink is a corner one with no space to place things but there is shelf in the bathroom for all your luxuries. The body wash / conditioner / hand soap / hand moisturiser are great quality.
Noise - it's by the Harbour so they start early, but for us it was part of the charm of the location, the fresh fish smell was totally incredible.
Breakfast is not to be missed, across in the restaurant with the best view, it's harbour side. Loved the granola, yoghurt, compote starter. I had English Breakfast as I was hungry, it was great quality but disappoining - it was more style over substance. The bacon is cooked to crispy, not my style at all but great quality. He had the Salmon & Eggs and it won hands down. Local, fresh, decent portion, on wonderful Sourdough. Luckily I was saved a bite.
A point or two more - the bedside light fused the circuit and the room was plunged into darkness. Looked for fuse box, could not find. Ended up in Restsurant. They had to get keys to a location they used to own but don't now (ground floor of the Rooms building). This took a while as the keys had to be obtained. I get how this used to work, but not now - the fuse box needs moving. The if we cant fix option was check out and refund - erm no!!
There is the most incredible Team member behind the Bar/ Restaurant from Bulgaria whose name I have really tsckily forgotten. For which I apologise.
She is truly wonderful and made the visit for me, id return solely to see her again!!!
Overall we loved Rocksalt Rooms and would return, to have dinner in the restaurant too!
Thumbs up from us, thang you so kindly 💕
GGuest UserThe perfect location and food in the restaurant is also good. If you plan to check-in after 10-11 PM, I would suggest having dinner before going.
GGuest UserIt's been quite a while since i last stayed at the Kings Arms... and this trip reminded me why!
There is very little choice of Hotels in the area, and Kings Arms is centrally located in Westerham with many decent Pubs and Restaurants in close proximity.
The Hotel had undergone a lot of fairly recent External Renovation and looks amazing from the outside... maybe one day they can progress to modernising the interior.
Bar Area and Restaurant areas are absolutely fine, and you cannot fault the friendliness and helpfulness of the Staff.
However, the journey upstairs with the threadbare carpet kinda lets you know what is instore for you inside the room.
On this most recent stay, the room itself was HUGE! I booked a deluxe Double. Massive Bed, and ample furniture.
Carpet threadbare in places and the Central Heating Radiator didn't work. A small Electric heater had been placed in the room, but due to the enormity of the size, it was inadequate to produce any real warmth in the room. Poor quality lighting.. but i thinks that made me by design!
The Bathroom was equally large, but similar to the room (and others i've stayed in previous) i suspect maybe the 1980's was the last time it had a facelift. It was adequate to take a wee, and clean my teeth.. but i could only imagine my wife's reaction to the sheer thought of taking a Bath in there!
It's such a shame really... perfect location to stay for either Business while working at Biggin Hill Airport, or for a weekend getaway with the wife.
However, if the latter... i would seriously advise to take a look across the road. You'll have a much happier wife!!
This could be an amazing hotel - but it sure does need a lot of work on the inside.
JJanet Zenperfect in every way, location, breakfast, spacious room...especially impressed by the wonderful people working in the reception, Irina particularly makes us cyclists feel more than welcome..
AAkki_M13Overall the hotel was pretty decent. Good location and great views fron the room. But you know the building is a but old one some dont expect 5star model. You want some thing vintage and good you are in the right place. I loved it . And the staff was so lovely and friendly. I will suggest this one.
CChris J HornWhat an amazing hidden gem this is. Nestled on a hill top overlooking the marshes with Warehorn church over the road, this pub with rooms is a must for a romantic get away.
We arrived early and had a drink in the bar, which is beautifully quirky, a welcoming log fire burning and a wide selection of drinks.
We had booked ”Niddy” an attic room with so much to give, a comfy bed, roll top bath, and so much character.
The only ****** I had with the room, was the W.C squeezed into the roof space it was a little awkward to stand up and wee, but that's a small thing when it comes to such a great room.
Requesting a quiet table for dinner, we were given one in a side area and again we couldn't believe it, it was super romantic and we had the whole room to ourselves. Our waiter Muli was so good, he was attentive but not intruding, and so funny, we haven't had many meals out and he really did make the evening.
The food was excellent and the vegan burger was one of the best I have had.
The location was brilliant, if you're into walking, cycling, birdwatching or wanting to visit local sites (rye was only 20min drive away)
The rest of the staff were also brilliant, and couldn't do enough for us.
We will definitely return.
GGuest UserFantastic stay in the newly and tastefully decorated Clifton Hotel. We received a very warm welcome from friendly and helpful staff, and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is in a great location opposite the beach with lovely walks along The Leas and also boasts a Marco Pierre White restaurant on site which has made for a definite return visit. A delicious breakfast was included in our stay with a huge choice of cooked or continental dishes and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Will be returning very soon.
GGuest UserThe hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. The location was difficult to find, but overall was a nice stay. Bonus that there was a whs 24hr market!
GGuest UserWonderful location, just a stones throw from the Centre of Canterbury. Our Host was lovely, very kind and welcoming.
Breakfast was not overwhelming, very basic. It was included in the price so can't really complain.
Lots of niggles with the room though..... maintenance appears to be down on the list of the priorities sadly.
Fridge didn't work.
TV had cracked plastic frame around it. Remote didn't connect to the TV. However you could turn on the TV manually....once you'd sussed out what wasn't working first.
Bedside set of drawers had handles that kept falling off.
No sink plug in the bathroom. You had to be a contortionist to see in the bathroom mirror, it could have been better positioned on the adjacent wall.
It was also a little concerning that all the electric devices had to be plugged into just one trail board.
That being said, inspite of all the niggles, it didn't stop us from having a lovely weekend stay in Canterbury - location made up for it along with Sanjeewa's hospitality.
