Getty Center

The Paul Getty Museum in California, USA is divided into two locations, one by the sea and one on the mountain, about ten kilometers apart. The Getty Villa Museum is located in Pacific Palisades on the Pacific coast and was opened to the public in 1954. With the continuous increase of Paul Getty's collection, he built a replica of a Roman rural villa from the first century AD, which was opened to the public in 1974, mainly exhibiting artifacts from ancient Greece, ancient Rome, and Etruria, with a collection of about 44,000 pieces. The Getty Center is located on a small hilltop 270 meters above sea level in the Santa Monica Mountains about 25 kilometers west of downtown Los Angeles. After thirteen years of design and construction, it was opened to the public in 1997. It mainly exhibits European paintings, sculptures, furniture, decorative arts, and photography, with a collection of about 50,000 pieces. This is the artwork "Boy with Frog" that artist Charles Ray and his team of art production experts spent years creating and assembling to ensure that every detail was just right, from the boy's fingernails to the frog's skin. Ray photographed a boy holding a live amphibian and then scanned these images to create a three-dimensional digital model. His team used modeling software to refine the sculpture's design. "Boy with Frog" was completed in 2008 and installed at the Getty Center in 2011, where it is still on display.
