The Scott Monument!

A striking Gothic structure, stands proudly in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens. Erected in 1844 to honor Sir Walter Scott, one of Scotland's greatest writers, it reaches a height of 200 feet, making it one of the largest monuments dedicated to a writer in the world. The monument features a statue of Scott seated with his beloved dog, Maida, at its base. Visitors can climb 287 steps to the top for panoramic views of Edinburgh’s skyline. Adorned with 64 statues of characters from Scott's novels, the monument is a testament to his literary legacy and a prominent landmark celebrating Scotland's rich cultural heritage. #solotravel
