Gaoyou Prefecture Office

Gaoyou Prefecture, an ancient administrative region in Jiangsu, was a local name during the Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties (now Gaoyou City, Jiangsu Province). The Gaoyou Prefecture Office was the place where Wei Yuan, a historical figure in Gaoyou, worked as the prefect of Gaoyou. The name Gaoyou Prefecture originated from the Song Dynasty, as did the 'Annals of Gaoyou Prefecture'. After the Song Dynasty, it was successively known as Gaoyou Army, Gaoyou Prefecture, Gaoyou Road, and Gaoyou Prefecture. In 1912, Gaoyou Prefecture was abolished and Gaoyou County was re-established. In the fourth year of Jianyan in the Song Dynasty, Gaoyou Army was promoted to Chengzhou, leading Chengzhou and Tianchang Army, and governing Gaoyou County and Xinghua County. In the first year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1368), Gaoyou Prefecture was established, leading Xinghua and Baoying counties, belonging to Yangzhou Prefecture. In the first year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Gaoyou Prefecture was established, belonging to Yangzhou Prefecture, and soon became a scattered state.
