The Zinc Metallurgy Museum in Katowice

The WALCOWNIA Zinc Metallurgy Museum is one of the largest museums in Poland. Museum provides visitors with over 5,000 m2 of exhibition space organized in a post-industrial space in the halls of the former zinc rolling mill. The history of the development of zinc metallurgy in Upper Silesia is presented in the Museum. Based on a unique technological line for the production of zinc sheets, the history of zinc processing is presented. The technological line consists of e.g. melting furnaces, a heating furnace for zinc plates, a casting carousel, roughing and finishing rolling mills as well as sheet metal shears. Since 2016, the Rolling Mill has housed a collection of Jacob Peping's historic combustion stationary engines. More than 50 engines produced throughout the 20th century represent the history of the development of the internal combustion engine. #poland #museum
