The only royal temple in Luang Prabang, "Wat Xieng Thong"

The Wat Xieng Thong, the only royal temple in Luang Prabang, reveals the 'Tree of Life' that signifies the cycle of cause and effect, a reclining Buddha, and the old abbot as the three treasures of the temple. It is said that before the construction of the temple, there was a towering tree here. Later, the 'Tree of Life' was painted on the back wall of the main hall, with each pattern representing a Buddhist legend about the cycle of cause and effect. The old abbot is located on the right hand side of the Buddha in the main hall, with a lifelike photo of him placed beside. The reclining Buddha is not so easy to find, but it is said to be very efficacious, and those who are destined will always get a chance to see it! Right outside the temple gates is the pier for boat tours on the Mekong River.
