Wat Huay Pla Kang: Goddess of Mercy Chiang Rai

The establishment of Wat Huay Pla Kang began in the year 2001 by a group of devotees who started to build the temple as a monastic residence. It wasn't until November 19, 2005, that Phra Ajarn Phobchok Tissavamso traveled to practice Dharma and began the construction of religious objects, starting with the monks' huts, preaching hall, dining hall, and stupa. On July 24, 2009, the National Office of Buddhism officially declared it a temple named Wat Huay Pla Kang, with Phra Athikan Phobchok Tissavamso as the first abbot. Today, Wat Huay Pla Kang is a temple that attracts faith from different provinces and countries, with many people coming to pay respects, worship, and practice Dharma. It is considered one of the important origins of Buddhism in Chiang Rai. Within the temple, there is the nine-story Phra Maha Phobchok Dhamma Chedi, which houses a carved wooden replica of the Bodhisattva Guanyin, and each floor enshrines a Buddha image representative of that level.
