Beautiful countryside Ta'xia Village - The fairy tale of the ancient village

Ta'xia Village, an administrative village under the jurisdiction of Shuyang Town, Nanjing County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, is a traditional Chinese village located in the western part of Shuyang Town, with a village area of 5.68 square kilometers. Ta'xia Village is a typical Hakka settlement, built in the 'two mountains and water, iron fan closed door' mountain and river form of the Tai Chi village layout is preserved intact, is a witness to the Hakka blood relationship and clan living traditional culture, but also an important example of the study of Fujian Tulou history and large rammed earth residential building construction technology. The village has national cultural relics protection units such as Deyuan Hall, Shilong Banner and other historical remains and 'Spring Festival', 'Making Big Fortune' and other traditional customs, showing the Hakka culture's adherence to and inheritance of the Central Plains culture, providing evidence for the study of the changes in the Central Plains culture and the history of the Han people's migration to the south. The earth buildings in Ta'xia Village are built along the river, with a rich variety of shapes, including common square and round earth buildings, as well as apron-shaped and square-shaped earth buildings. The most unique are the single courtyard-style earth and wood, brick and wood structures of the Zhejiang and Hangzhou water towns, forming a landscape of large buildings with small buildings, high and low scattered layout. Among them, Yude Building and Shunchang Building are located on both sides of the stream, combined with the stream resembling Tai Chi, Ta'xia Village is therefore known as 'Tai Chi Water Village'. Ta'xia Village has intangible cultural heritage such as Hakka puppet plays and Hakka earth building construction skills. In December 2016, Ta'xia Village was announced as the fourth batch of traditional Chinese villages by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Culture, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the National Tourism Administration. This is a beautiful place with beautiful mountains and rivers, no severe cold in winter, no extreme heat in summer, very beautiful natural scenery, very worth stopping for a short stay.
