#bucketlistreboot Beng Mealea is a very impressive temple built in the reign of King Suryavarman II, the 12th century CE. Located at Svay Leu District 60 kilometers 75 minutes drive from Siem Reap, it will be too far by Tuk Tuk, so it is better to get the local day tour in the town. Beng Mealea was abandoned, the whole site has been overrun by plants, trees grow out of the stones, vines are wrapped around the gateway and roots have stretched through the walls. Badly damage collapsing stones all over, a wooden footpath was built to let you walk smoothly and safely to the interior. This forested temple is worth the journey from Siem Reap, not many visitors, can walk slowly and admire, how grand and big when the temple was built.
