Angkor Wat three-day tour, these 6 temples are a must-visit‼️ Hidden gems|||This trip to Siem Reap was purely for Angkor Wat, thanks to a friend's recommendation. It's probably the most worthwhile place to visit in all of Cambodia. After visiting, I can only say that it was truly a trip well worth it; the world is much more fascinating than we can imagine. For transportation, I chose electric bikes and motorcycles, $8 per day. The electric bike is similar to the scooters we have back home, and it's perfectly fine for riding around the small and grand circuits. For the outer circuit, you would need a motorcycle. ➡️ But honestly, Angkor Wat is so vast, so how should one go about touring it❓ And which temples are worth visiting? Here, I've organized my Angkor Wat itinerary from the past few days to give everyone a reference. 1⃣ Small Circuit ✅ Angkor Wat: The main temple of the Angkor dynasty, with nearly 2000 Apsara statues, is a great place to watch the sunrise and sunset. Highly recommended❗️ ✅ Bayon Temple: Located at the center of Angkor Thom, it's famous for the Khmer smile and is relatively small. Highly recommended❗️ ✅ Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of the Leper King: These two sites are connected and were where the ancient kings held ceremonies and elephant fights. The Terrace of the Leper King has bas-reliefs of various Hindu deities, worth a look. Opposite is the Tower of the Zodiac, which can be viewed from a distance. ✅ Celestial Palace: Behind the Terrace of the Elephants, a Shiva temple surrounded by a pond, can be skipped. ✅ Preah Palilay Temple: Dedicated to the Preah Palilay deity, the temple is small and can be skipped. ✅ Ta Keo Temple: The first temple in Angkor Wat to be built entirely of sandstone, but unfortunately, it was never completed. Visit if interested. ✅ Ta Prohm Temple: The filming location for 'In the Mood for Love' and 'Tomb Raider', the ruins are entwined and engulfed by ancient trees, very impressive! Strongly recommended‼️ 2⃣ Grand Circuit ✅ Ta Som Temple: One of the filming locations for 'Tomb Raider', the East Gopura is a highlight, completely covered by tree roots. You can see the Khmer smile behind it. Visit if interested. ✅ Neak Pean, Preah Khan: These two sites are together, Neak Pean is worth a look because it's rare to see a large body of water after being in the jungle. Preah Khan is on an island, small and not many points of interest. It's suggested to rest by the lake instead of going onto the island. ✅ Preah Khan Temple: Built in the 12th century, Preah Khan Temple was constructed by Jayavarman VII to honor his father. It was also Jayavarman VII's temporary residence. Recommended❗️ ✅ Baphuon Temple: The royal crematorium, also known as the Transformation Tower. Very small, you're pretty much done when you reach the top of the tower, and many locals come here to watch the sunset. Visit if interested. 3⃣ Outer Circuit ✅ Banteay Srei: One of the most exquisite architectural complexes in Angkor Wat, with incredibly detailed carvings, especially the central temple which is better preserved. Strongly recommended‼️ ✅ Beng Mealea: Ruins in the midst of a primeval mystery, it feels like a temple where spirits or supernatural beings might reside. The temple itself is not large, and you can't walk into the ruins. It's a long motorcycle ride, but if you don't mind the hassle, it's worth a visit❗️
