One of the best Christmas markets in Europe!

#christmas #winterwonderland Voted as the best Christmas market in Europe for more than a year, we decided we shouldn’t miss Tallin’s Old Town Christmas market, especially when the country of Estonia was just a stone’s throwaway from Finland, separated by merely a gulf in the Baltic Sea. Since there was almost an entire day to spare before our return night flight to Singapore, we booked ourselves seats for a two-hour morning ferry ride to the capital of Estonia 🇪🇪 Upon reaching the Old Town, it seemed as if a fairytale had come alive. The town hall square was fully adorned with Christmas decorations and lights, with local merchants selling Estonian Christmas cuisine, from black pudding and sour cabbage to gingerbread and hot Christmas drinks, as well as little handicrafts. Fresh snow was also falling steadily from the sky, adding some white to the star of the market - the most important Christmas tree in Estonia that has been set up in the town hall square since 1441 😍😍😍 We spent a good one hour basking in the festive cheer and spirit. Sacrificing shopping time in Helsinki for this additional trip was truly worthwhile. After all, it’s not every day one gets to cross international borders this easily to visit a traditional Christmas market!
