CYRUS LEONARD

The Sino-Singapore Friendship Park was a bit beyond expectations

Just like last National Day, I chose not to travel far during the long holiday and continued to visit local parks. Located in the Sino-Singapore Eco-city, the park is where the ancient Dao River takes a turn. A breeze flows over the boardwalk, with ripples layering past, making one feel as if they are in the midst of water. The park is crisscrossed with paths that wind and undulate, connecting various functional areas. Some are for enjoying the waterside scenery, some for climbing to higher vantages, and others for crossing streams. Wind, water, light, flowers, maze, mist - each themed garden offers a unique and peculiar experience. The playground is a paradise for kids, and us older folks should probably not disturb them. The fountain square is also a playground for the energetic children, who seem tireless as they run soaking wet between the jets of water. Unfortunately, the Misty Forest was without 'mist' and the water-themed area was without 'water', failing to add the desired festive atmosphere. During the holiday, there were still many visitors. I had hoped to find a less popular spot but didn't manage to. Fortunately, ninety percent of the visitors were not there just to stroll in the park, but to set up tents and feast. This made the park not too crowded. The park's style was indeed beyond expectations, but it's a bit far from the city center, over an hour away. It's not easy to come here. I wanted to visit the East Dike or the Aircraft Carrier No. 5, but the map was all red, and the signs also indicated traffic control on the East Dike, with Beitan also overcrowded. Well, I guess I'll head back to the city and visit the China Stone Park instead. It's not easy to go out during the holidays!
