Trip Moments Recommendations
#Coron Island Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Come on, Coron!
Spending 4 days and 3 nights in Coron is definitely one highlight of my 2023 adventure life. The thing about the weather in Coron is that it has a stable tropical climate which makes it an excellent place to go to during the summer season. If you are planning to get there around Dry Season which usually falls on November to May, I suggest wearing beach outfits such as swimsuit, rash guard, and slippers. Make sure to bring other beach necessities such as goggles and a cap. Another essential thing to bring during your trip to Coron is an umbrella. It's beneficial in case it rains, or the sun is causing too much heat.
Anyway…. One of the best parts of Coron are their beaches. Being able see Limestone cliffs, majestic blue waters, and breathtaking views left and right were forever embedded in my heart.
Another thing to love in Coron are their food and beverages. Although it is a small, laid-back town, it has a few restaurants serving a variety of international food. It can be pretty expensive so better plan your meal strategically. Another tip I can tell you is to Enjoy. Visiting this renowned island in Palawan should be included in your bucket list. It's a matter of planning your itinerary and making sure that you're well-informed about the choices you have for accommodations, tours, and activities.

The Beauty That Is Coron
Coron is renowned for its natural beauty, featuring towering limestone cliffs, pristine white-sand beaches, and turquoise waters. The stunning landscapes and seascapes make it an ideal destination for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers.
The main attraction in Coron is Coron Island itself, which is part of the Calamian Group of Islands. It offers a wealth of natural wonders, including the iconic Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoons, Barracuda Lake, and Siete Pecados Marine Park. These sites are perfect for snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and swimming, allowing visitors to explore the vibrant underwater ecosystem.
Coron is also known for its numerous World War II-era shipwrecks. Exploring the wrecks offers a unique opportunity to witness history while experiencing the beauty of the underwater world.
Philippines - Coron Island, Palawan
Palawan is located in the southern part of the Philippines. Coron is one of the most famous islands in Palawan. This place is recommended for friends who love diving.
The waters around Coron Island have been designated as a world natural protected area, and Kayangan Lake is hailed as the cleanest lake in the Philippines. The beautiful scenery and peaceful environment make people forget their troubles, and it is simply a paradise on earth that busy city dwellers yearn for. No wonder Coron Island was selected as the world's best travel destination for 2013 by the famous travel guide "Lonely Planet".
Near Kolon Island, there are many coral islands, and the surrounding waters are pollution-free. Coupled with the clear lake water, every spot is a favorite of divers. As long as you know how to snorkel, you can see the most magnificent coral reefs and colorful tropical fish in the underwater world. One of the must-visit places for snorkeling enthusiasts is Siete Picados, where the water is shallow. This island is surrounded by seven large limestone rock formations, hence its name. The waters around the island are also a special protected area, so the seawater is particularly clear.
In the water, there are various marine creatures settled.
"The residents" include soft corals and naked gill animals, as well as a large group of colorful tropical fish including surgeonfish, parrotfish, scorpionfish, and clownfish, as well as various marine organisms such as plate, table, peanut, and antler-shaped corals. These marine creatures are very hospitable. Whenever a sightseeing boat approaches, they are not scared away, but instead swarm up to compete for favorable positions. If you can scuba dive, you can even see more deep-sea marine life.
Palawan Coron Guide: "Island Hopping" is a must-play, recommended by Zhenna, and don't miss the Kayangan Lake.
"Sightseeing/photography/ocean swimming/freedom diving, choose A line for three snorkeling experiences, choose B line for scuba diving with tanks."
Sea Wolf Lake, also known as the Hot and Cold Lake, is a lake where sea water and fresh water blend together. Hot springs emerge from the bottom of the lake, and there is a noticeable change in water temperature when diving.
Visibility is super good, the water is crystal clear, the unique karst landform, small hills standing in the lake, underwater rocks in strange shapes, the most famous "Devil's Eye" must-visit spot is located at the third stop of Jump Island A line.
So beautiful that I don't want to cover it with words in the title series~

Forever My Tropic Love
The best and most exciting part of traveling within the Philippines is the many and very diverse islands we have. When I visited Coron, I felt most happy calling my country as my home. The blues and ceruleans just made me so happy and eager to go on tours to explore the horizon. One of the tours took us to Malcapuya Island. I have never walked on the finest sands until I set foot on Malcapuya Island. We were served lunch right by the beach which made the dining experience extra fulfilling. It takes about 2 hours of boat ride to get there but the beauty you will see is almost out of this world. I will forever be in love with Malcapuya Island in Coron, Palawan. #coron #palawan #beach #tropical

Barracuda Lake / Coron Island / Philippines
Barracuda Lake, situate on the north shore of Coron Island, offers one of the most unique diving experience in the world. Crystals blue waters hidden between majestic rocky formations, divers can experience a thermocline and halo line unlike anywhere else.
The sight to see!
Coron is famous for their limestone formations and the lakes/lagoons inside those limestone formations on the sea.
We booked an island hopping tour on our first day in Coron which was scheduled on our second day. There were only two of us and hiring an exclusive boat was expensive, but if you are the type of person who wants privacy and hates noisy strangers, I tell you, you have to rent your own boat. I almost cannot remember all the places that we’ve been to on that tour, but one thing is certain... The reefs are nice and alive but Apo Island reef is far better and way more colorful. I loved the Coron Island (Coron town and Coron Island are two different places) and I loved the peacefulness of the freshwater lake inside the small and rocky island.
Coron is a small town. You can walk or take a Tricycle (P7 per trip). Another option is to rent a scooter.
If you want to discover nearby islands you can hire a boat for about P1250 per day with the driver.
10 out of 10! Highly recommended..
coron 3d3n tour worth it
we had a 3d3n tour last may. coron was beautiful and still keep its natural beauty. We did ultimate tour on day 1, escapade tour on day 2 and the last day we just spent time wandering around the town and climbed Mt tapyas. the tour was great, costs around 3500 per person for 3 days tour.
If you want to book a hotel located in the heart of coron town I’d highly recommend Bluewaters inn hotel. its close to restaurants, souvenir shop, market and the pier. we spent only 4000 for 3 nights here. We tried quite a lot of restaurants while we were there and the best one was santino’s grill, huge amount of food for its price, totally worth it . best bbq ribs in town. #staycation #beachlife

To enjoy the view and to reach the giant cross at the summit, you'll need to climb 721 steps. It is challenging but once you reach the top, you will be impressed with the 360 instagramble view. Coron Island is located a 30-minute boat ride from the town on Busuanga Island and is home to many of the top sights in Coron. Here you can find Twin Lagoons, Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, and many stunning beaches and smaller lagoons.
Coron Town is a fishing village with a population is just over 40,000 but it is becoming more and more popular tourist every year. Coron is often listed as one of the top tourist places in the Philippines. The Palawan was recently named the most beautiful island in the world and we’d have to agree.

THE PHILIPPINES 3 weeks guide
Book your accommodation in part of Manila called Makati, where all the restaurants, street food, and shops are.
On the morning of day 2 catch a flight to Coron. After arriving in Coron town, get yourself a bike for around 600 pesos per day. One day will be enough as Coron Island on its own is not really exciting so you won't really need much time for exploring. The best thing about Coron is the surrounding islands around and therefore the Island hopping tours.
On day 4 in the morning, you will board the ferry to Palawan, El Nido. It costs around 1760 pesos per person and takes around 5 hours.
But it´s worth it because now you are at one of the most spectacular places of this Philipines El Nido is a town on the very north of Palawan Island and is home to many pristine white sandy beaches and chilled vibes. From El Nido on day 7 in the morning join a van going to Puerto Princesa. In Puerto Princesa, you can visit Iwahig Open Prison and treat yourself in some nice accommodation as we did.
Cebu Island is where the best waterfalls are. Words can´t describe how much fun it is to hike all the waterfalls levels!
On the morning of day 8, you will arrive by plane from Puerto Princesa to Cebu Island. From the airport make your way directly down to Moalboal. That is where all the accommodation and restaurants for tourists are and you will be closer to all the waterfalls and sunrise hikes. Just a 2 hours long ferry ride from Cebu will bring you to Bohol Island. An Island with such unique landscapes has a lot to offer! Rice terraces, sunrise hikes, the chocolate hill, waterfalls, cave... But the main reason for a lot of people going to Bohol is Tarsier.
The tiny little monkey-like looking animal is endangered spices and active only during the night.
Stunning waterfalls, lovely local people and slow life are waiting for you on Siquijor Island.
From Siquijor Island to Siargao - your last stop.
Living our best beach life.
ISLAND HOPPING CORON PHILIPPINES
Coron in the Philippines is a part of Palawan Island. And similar to El Nido, the main reason for visiting is island hopping tours. Explore endless amount of jaw-dropping views, limestone formations, hidden lagoons and lakes with a mixture of salt and freshwater with our Coron Travel Guide.
The price in Coron for island hopping tour is a little bit higher. For a shared boat (10-14 people) the price is 1600 PHP per person. And it usually does not include lunch and entrance fee for each location. In every place, you stop you pay additional 150-400 PHP per person. The private boat is between 5000-6000 PHP for 4 people and doesn't include lunch or entrance fees.
Because these tours are quite popular we recommend you to book the private boat and leave the harbor at 6 am in the morning.
Another advantage of having your private boat is that you can create your own personalized order and itinerary of the tour. We started at 6 am and headed to the most popular place first - Barracuda Lake.
Barracuda lake is actually a freshwater lake inside of a crater in the middle of the ocean. The water has an emerald blue color and its incredibly clear!
The first 4m layer of the water is purely freshwater with the temperature around 28°C. As you are going down the water changes to saltwater and at 14m deep the water temperature is rising to 38°C.
Banol Beach, Coron Philippines
A stunning white sandy pristine beach with wooden shacks on the water. This incredible place is in the middle of the ocean surrounded by impressive limestone formations.
Twin Lagoon
Twin Lagoon is another jaw-dropping place. Two lagoons with incredible snorkelling conditions connected together by a narrow gap in the middle of a rock. On low tide, you can swim through an underwater bridge to get from one lagoon to another.

Coron Bay is where all the magic happens. This breathtaking maze of deep blue water winds around tall limestone cliffs that remind you of the movie ‘Avatar’- it almost doesn’t seem real.
There are multiple shipwrecks in the bay that have encouraged the growth of natural reefs. These reefs and the wrecked ships make ideal dive and snorkel spots.

Palawan - The Philippines: This is Coron island, one of the famous island in Palawan. The water color from sky view is really nice. This is a very good place for snorkeling. We have to take a local boat as a day trip. There are a lot of beautiful corals and small fish underwater. 🐠🐟🐙🦀
