Trip Moments Recommendations
#Kamakura Hasedera Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Hasedera Temple is a typical Japanese rock garden. This temple is well-known for its statutes of Bodhisattva. A standing figure of Bodhisattva with 11 faces can be found here. This is also the largest wooden figure of Bodhisattva in Japan. Standing on the small platform, you can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the local private houses. The temple has its face to the ocean and back to the mountain, providing you with a lovely view. Of course, this is also a good place to admire sakura and maple leaves.
Breathtaking cherry blossom views
Spring has come with these fully bloomed cherry blossoms 🌸. This is definitely one of the best moments in Japan which people should not miss. This moment usually lasts only for a week but don’t worry. As you go north to chase fully bloomed cherry blossoms, you can catch them sooner or later👍

It is a grand piece of Japanese history and decorative to the eye. It is top of the list for me within Kamakura. Insider tip is to walk up around the back and also check out the views of the beach and Mt Fuji in the background. Inside is interesting and you can see artwork of heaven and hell on each wall as well statues and informative religious items. The architecture of the temples is stunning. The ponds and gardens attract some beautiful wildlife including some very large red and blue dragonflies as well as cicadas. The viewing platform has spectacular views across Kamakura. There is also a cave temple that was really interesting. The overall feeling of calm and tranquility exudes throughout the temple complex. Definitely worth a visit if in Kamakura or Tokyo.

Kamakura Hasedera
#cherryblossom2024 Kamakura Hasedera, especially in July, is a picturesque sanctuary that mesmerizes visitors. The tranquil ponds teeming with dragonflies and blooming lotus flowers create a serene ambiance. Exploring the mystical cave evokes a sense of wonder. The breathtaking view of the ocean is a delightful bonus. The towering Kannon statue, radiating serenity, adds a spiritual touch. Undoubtedly, Hasedera is among my favorite temples in Kamakura, captivating with its natural beauty and spiritual aura.

Kamakura Hasedera
#japantrip Incredible temple, probably the most exciting one within an hour of travel from Tokyo, it's recommened to plan a trip here. The grounds are vast but on a hill side with mans stairs. The gardens are very nice, there's an interesting cave and collections of stone statues, and the design of the temple buildings are simply breathtaking. You can also get a great view of the bay. This temple truly ignited my fascination with Kamakura, I would say it it the most essential place to visit here and makes for a well rounded experience.
Hase-dera (Kamakura) Winter Sweet Exhibition
Hase-dera is currently at the prime time for winter sweet blossoms, which is in contrast to Beijing where the winter sweets are expected to be at their best by the end of the month.
💰Ticket Price: 400 Japanese yen per adult
Winter sweets and cherry blossoms in spring, lotus flowers in summer, maple leaves in autumn
On a cloudy day in Kamakura, Mount Fuji is not visible, but it's still worth a visit
The sea, the tram, and the temples are the impressions Kamakura left on me.
During my three days in Tokyo, I picked the middle day to visit the nearby Kamakura, hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous Mount Fuji.
Unfortunately, luck was not on my side, and the cloudy weather meant that Mount Fuji would probably be obscured by clouds. However, since I had already planned this, I might as well go on a cloudy day to see what unique experiences might await.
🚃Transportation: At Shinjuku Station, I bought a one-day pass for the Shinjuku to Fujisawa Station round trip, which also includes the Kamakura seaside tram. The price is only 1640 yen, which is very economical.
It takes about an hour to reach Fujisawa Station, and after getting off and transferring, I arrived at Enoshima.
Enoshima: A lively seaside island, where Hirokazu Koreeda's 'Our Little Sister' was filmed. There is a small temple at the top of the hill with a lot of incense burning, offering a panoramic view of the entire island and the bridge.
Then I returned to the tram station and took the tram to Hase-dera, which was the stop I was most looking forward to on this trip.
Hase-dera: The entrance ticket 🎫 is probably 300 yen, which is very cheap. The small Buddha statues inside the temple are very cute, as if entering a world of deities.
I also happened to encounter the maple leaves turning red, adding even more Zen to the atmosphere.
Afterward, I went to the landmark of Kamakura—the Great Buddha of Kamakura.
🎫The worship fee is 200 yen.
The huge Buddha statue overlooks the visitors, creating a strong visual impact.
The ginkgo forest behind the courtyard is also very picturesque.
After coming out, I slowly strolled through the small town, walking on the tram tracks, walking by the sea, until I reached Shichirigahama, where I saw the sunset's Tyndall effect. Although I couldn't see Mount Fuji on a cloudy day, I saw people fishing by the sea and sat quietly for a long time.
Finally, I went to the famous Kamakura High School Mae, took some photos of the green tram 'racing' by the sea, and then I also took the tram back to Tokyo.
From the leisurely seaside town back to the bustling, fast-paced Tokyo.
Spring | Leisurely stroll in Kamakura, admiring the flowers and scenery, and gazing at Mount Fuji
🌟 Kamakura, you sure know how to enjoy yourself!
❤ When it comes to Kamakura in Kanagawa, Japan, many people born in the 80s and 90s think first of the railway crossing in front of Kamakura Koukou, having passed it countless times. Each time they pass by, they recall the familiar and thrilling 'I Want to Shout Out that I Like You'.
👍 Kamakura is a tourist city in Kanagawa. Although it is not large in size, it is bustling with tourists year-round, with crowds of people in every season. Located on the coast, Kamakura also offers distant views of Mount Fuji, and these various factors make it the second most prominent destination in the Kanto region after Tokyo.
🧳 How to enjoy Kamakura:
✅ The Great Buddha of Kamakura, built in the 13th century, is located in Kotoku-in and is a landmark of Kamakura. Made of bronze, it is the second largest seated Buddha statue in Japan.
✅ Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, located in the central area of Kamakura, has developed the city around the Hachimangu shrine. Countless events are held here each year, from festivals to exhibitions, to personal weddings, with a constant stream of visitors. From spring cherry blossoms to summer hydrangeas, to autumn maple leaves, this place is always a favorite for those who enjoy scenery.
✅ Hase-dera, known for its beautiful gardens, is close to the Great Buddha of Kamakura, faces the sea, and offers enchanting views. A hydrangea path makes it a must-visit spot for flower enthusiasts in summer. Other temples like Engaku-ji, Jochi-ji, Kencho-ji, and the Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine, collectively known as the 'Five Mountains of Kamakura', provide a full day's worth of leisurely exploration.
✅ Komachi Street, Kamakura's famous shopping street, satisfies all needs from the first cup of coffee in the morning to a late-night snack before bed, offering a complete experience of dining, shopping, and entertainment.
✅ Enoshima and the Shonan coast are part of Kamakura's coastline, attracting surfers year-round to enjoy the thrill of the sea. With abundant sunshine in summer, many restaurants and cafes open here, making the beach a great place for leisure and entertainment. Stepping onto Enoshima, you reach a prime spot for viewing Mount Fuji, where you can rest and dine at the observatory while admiring the beauty of Mount Fuji (with a bit of luck).
Kamakura, Japan | A Healing Summer Day Trip Guide
At ten in the morning, depart from Asakusa and take the subway to Shinjuku Station. Then find the Odakyu Service Center at the west exit of Shinjuku to purchase a Kamakura one-day pass, which can be bought on the same day. The staff will ask for your departure point and provide you with a Chinese guide and timetable. The pass includes the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku to Fujisawa and the Enoden Line from Fujisawa to Kamakura. When using the subway, please remember to use the pass to avoid missing it. I once neglected to use the Odakyu Line pass and had to pay with my SUICA card, which was a bit regrettable.
Around noon, you will arrive at Kamakura Station. Next, follow the walking route below for your tour:
Starting from Kamakura Station, head to Komachi Street first. This area is perfect for strolling with various snacks and shops, allowing you to fully enjoy shopping and gourmet food.
Then, proceed to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. This is a famous shrine and worth visiting.
Continue along Wakamiya-oji Avenue towards Hase Station. You can enjoy beautiful scenery along the way.
After reaching Hase Station, visit Hasedera Temple, a temple that requires a ticket for entry. It has shady trees and is very cool, making it a good place to rest. Additionally, you can see a huge wooden Buddha statue.
Next, go to Kotoku-in to see the famous Great Buddha of Kamakura. This also requires a ticket purchase.
After getting off at Kamakura High School, you will see many people taking photos at the intersection. Don't rush; keep heading towards Enoshima, and you will find many similar intersections along the way where you can freely take photos and avoid the crowds.
Finally, walk all the way to Enoshima and leisurely browse until about 7:30 in the evening before starting your return.
For food, you can find unexpected delicacies everywhere and try various snacks. Based on what you mentioned, I recommend trying the fried beef patty and cold soba noodles, which are very delicious and affordable. Especially at a corner leading to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, there is cold soba noodles that you can try.
I hope this guide is helpful to you, and I wish you a pleasant day trip in Kamakura! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me.

The ancient city of Kamakura, a pilgrimage to Chinese culture
Kamakura, a nearly thousand-year-old city, the Kamakura Shogunate (1192-1333) marked the beginning of Japan's shogunate regime, marking the end of the era when the central nobility held actual ruling power, and the warriors who were very low in the noble era took the stage of history.
👍Most recommended:
The relics include the eleven-faced Guanyin statue and the dry landscape of the academy in Hasedera, the eight palaces of Tsurugamine and the Great Buddha of Kotoku-in.
Eleven-headed statue of Kannon
Hasedera (長谷寺) is a temple of the Jodo sect, famous for its eleven-headed statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. It is 9.18 meter tall, and is regarded as one of the largest wooden sculptures in Japan and can be viewed in the temple's main building, the Kannon-do Hall.
The fall foliage is beautiful here. And during the autumn season, the temple has a special light-up event in the evening. This is the only temple in Kamakura that holds a
special light-up event.
This temple is located five minute walk from Hase Station, the third station from Kamakura along the Enoden railway line.
In 2024, I want to visit Nara.

One of the best temples to visit in the area. The best thing in this temple for me is the Pagoda, and a Buddha statue that is said to have been donated from India. It is also a mountainside temple, so I enjoyed walking around in the scenic view. The absolute plus would, free entrance!

Speaking of the cutest little Buddha statue, the good land of Kamakura Hasegawa must be among the best. The warm and lovely smile makes people feel more cordial and yearning for their heart.
When you walked into the Changgu Temple, you found that the Buddha statue is not so much. It is densely arranged in a certain place. It just responds to a Japanese saying "eight million gods", that is, everything is spiritual, and it is There are gods everywhere.
In fact, the most famous of the Changgu Temple is the 11-faced Guanyin Bodhisattva. In 721 AD, the Buddha statue carved by the Buddha with a huge banyan tree was thrown into the sea, hoping to appear in a place to save the sentient beings, 15 years later. The Buddha statue radiated a ray of light on the long well coast not far from Kamakura, and was moved to this place to create the Hasegawa Temple.
In the Canggu Temple, in the elegant and elegant Zen Garden, admire the blooming hydrangea on the side, the so-called "the April of the world
If the temples are so cute, small and fresh, how good it is ~ the long valley temple in the rain, the first surprise of Kamakura day trip!
The Canggu Temple is a sacred temple of pure land and is famous for its statue of Mercy Buddha Guanyin. The statue is an eleven heads of Guanyin, and each avatar represents a characteristic of the Buddha. This 9.18-meter-high gold-plated wooden statue is considered to be the largest wooden sculpture in Japan and can be seen in the main temple.
Yu Hand Washing Scorpion Visitors to the Changgu Temple can enjoy the beautiful view of the coastal city of Kamakura from the platform next to the main hall of the temple.
There is also a small restaurant offering Japanese desserts such as sticky rice cake (mitarashi dango), a glutinous rice noodles with a sticky sauce made of sugar and soy sauce.
If the temples in Kamakura are sorted according to their preference, the quiet Mingyue Courtyard is certainly the champion, and the second position will definitely be seized by the Changgu Temple. The giant slanting outside the door, the red leaves from the courtyard, the freely wandering koi in the clear spring, and the thick Zen of the academy show the elegance and tranquility of the Japanese pastoral everywhere.
Walk in many monasteries, people are more or less unknowingly exposed to "Zen", but the tour-like tour is not pure enough, so to be truly immersed, It is better to come to the academy here, copy a book, meditate, and truly calm down, stay away from the world, find things that you have not realized, and this is the original intention of the temple.
The discovery of the accident at the top of the mountain, there is actually the best viewing platform overlooking the panoramic view of the Kamakura coast. Facing the Ocean, Spring and Blossom. The moist sea breeze squints with long hair, not paying attention to the embarrassment of tourists, but only in their own small world, feel the small fortunate at the moment.

Changgu Temple is a Pure Land Buddhism Single Temple in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The Changgu Guanyin here is one of the main attractions for tourists coming here.
This is famous for its statue of Buddha. You can see a variety of statues everywhere in the temple. The 11-faced Guanyin statue dedicated to the temple is about 9 meters high and is the largest wooden Buddha statue in Japan.
Changgu Temple is a typical Japanese dry mountain garden. It is different from other temple shrines in the city. It has a great location with mountains and seas. The maple leaves are falling, the cherry blossoms are still early, and there are still sporadic flowers in the monotonous scenery in the temple.
The most romantic thing in the rainy season is to look at the hydrangea. Kamakura, which is a one-and-a-half-hour drive away from Tokyo, is the name of the hydrangea flower in Japan during the rainy season. The date of the hydrangea is announced every year, which means that the hydrangea has been cut. Before the cut, the flowering period of hydrangea has been nearly one month.
The name of the hydrangea flower in Kamakura is Changgu Temple and Mingyueyuan.
Let's talk about the Changgu Temple, the Jiangzhi Electric Railway, the Changgu Temple Station, and follow the signs to the Changgu Temple. There are many people in the peak season. It is recommended to enter the temple before 9:00, and there will be fewer team guests.
Tickets: 300 yen, will give you a ticket and tickets to Ziyanghuadao.
After the road sign, after passing through the main hall, there are people on the left side who collect the tickets for the Ziyanghua Mountain Road. They can only pass once, and the mountains and down the mountain, so stay in the picture and don't go. Come out, you can't go in after going down the mountain. Be patient and wait for the tourists to finish taking photos before they affect other visitors.
