I make a booking at this popular pasta restaurant 3 months in advance to secure a place. You can do a walk in too but it really depends on cancelations as it is usually full house based on booking. The names of the pasta dishes are really difficult to pronounce and the menu changes seasonally. We asked the waiter for recommendations and worked off reviews to choose what to eat. But wow, the pasta here is really good. The pasta itself is perfectly cooked and springy. And the flavors are just perfect. Not too strong nor too bland. Even tho the dishes look simple, I enjoyed it a lot because it is so good despite the simplicity. The service is also good. Good place to bring a date and enjoy the nice ambience.

The Colours of Katong!
A jaunt in Katong is a discovery of surprising sights! The gaudy palate of unusual terrace houses, each bursting with character and story, was a visual treat. I so badly wanted to look at their interiors! Then, there was a Hindu temple that looked out of place in the best way, adding a different flavour to the Peranakan territory. And no trip to Katong would be complete without slurping up laksa with a spoon…

The Humble Scoop in Katong - hidden gem!
The Humble Scoop in Katong is a hidden gem. First off, the ice cream here is top-notch. Creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor, each scoop is a delight for the taste buds. I particularly enjoyed the salted caramel flavor, which had just the right balance of sweet and salty. The Earl Grey tea flavor was also a standout, with its fragrant aroma and subtle tea flavor.
But it's not just the ice cream that shines at The Humble Scoop. The waffles are also a must-try, with their crisp exterior and fluffy interior. They make for the perfect pairing with the ice cream, creating a delectable dessert that's hard to resist.
The ambiance of the place is also worth mentioning, with its cozy and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to offer recommendations and answer any questions you may have.
Overall, I highly recommend The Humble Scoop in Katong for anyone looking for a sweet treat that's sure to satisfy. From the creamy ice cream to the crispy waffles, everything is made with care and attention to detail. It's no wonder that this place has quickly become a favorite among locals and tourists alike.#foodie #singapore

Fiery handmade chewy noodle chilli ban mian🌶️
Hey, fellow foodies! Today, I'm excited to share my thoughts on a dish that I recently tried at Malaysia Boleh @I12 Katong - the Chilli Ban Mian.
First things first, let's talk about the presentation. The dish arrived at my table looking vibrant and appetizing, with its bright red chilli oil, springy noodles, and generous toppings of minced pork, ikan bilis, and vegetables. It was clear that the chef put effort into making the dish look appealing, and I couldn't wait to dig in.
Now, on to the taste. As someone who loves spicy food, I have to say that the Chilli Ban Mian did not disappoint. The chilli oil had a kick to it that lingered on my tongue, but it was so overpowering that I couldn't taste the other elements of the dish lol. The noodles had a AMAZING chewy texture, and the toppings added a depth of flavor that complemented the spice well. I particularly enjoyed the crunch of the ikan bilis.

A Bowl of Comfort Kway Teow soup
I recently had the pleasure of trying the Kway Teow soup and Mee pork dry at Katong (Jago) Teochew Mee Pok Kway Teow Mee.
Starting with the Kway Teow soup, the broth was flavorful and had a nice balance of saltiness and sweetness. The kway teow noodles were soft and silky, and the accompanying fish balls and pork slices were fresh and cooked to perfection. It was a comforting and satisfying dish, perfect for a chilly day.😁😁
Moving on to the Mee pork dry, the dish was a medley of textures and flavors. The noodles were chewy and coated with a tasty sauce that had a hint of spiciness. The pork slices were tender and flavorful.

Mouthwatering Salmon Sushi (yea!) and more
Eh hello! Today I went to Genki Sushi at I12 Katong and wah, it was really not bad!
First of all, the place was super clean and the service was really fast. I didn't have to wait long for my food at all. And let me tell you, the sushi was really fresh and delicious. I especially loved the salmon and tuna sushi. The rice was perfectly cooked and the fish just melted in my mouth.
I also tried some of their other dishes like the miso soup and the parfait. The miso soup was piping hot and had just the right balance of miso and mushroom. The parfait was okay (but I find it not cold enough, hee).
Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Genki Sushi at I12 Katong.

Fluff-tastic Delight: Heavenly Pancakes!
Wah, I tell you, I just had the best fluffy pancake at Typhoon Taiwanese Cafe in i12 Katong Mall. You won't believe how fresh and warm it was! And the fluffiness... wah, damn power, really took me by surprise.
I don't know how they do it, but the pancake was so light and airy, I could have sworn I was eating a cloud. And the flavour, it was like biting into a piece of heaven. It had just the right amount of sweetness and was so soft, it practically melted in my mouth.
If you're looking for a good place to satisfy your pancake cravings, this is the place to go. I tell you, it's damn shiok lah. Don't say I bojio, go try it out for yourself!

Velvety Smooth Yogurt Speeculoos Ice Cream 🍦
Wow, I tell you, the yogurt speeculoos ice cream at Huggs Collective at i12 Katong is really shiok! First of all, the ice cream is so creamy and smooth, like velvet in your mouth. And then there's the caramelised speeculoos cookie butter, which adds a nice sweet, spiced flavour. You can taste the cookie sauce in every spoonful!
What I really like about this ice cream is that it's not too sweet. You can taste the tanginess of the yogurt, which balances out the sweetness of the speeculoos. Plus, it's not too heavy, so you don't feel jelat after eating it.
The portion is quite generous too. I ordered the double scoop, but it was quite big - enough to satisfy my ice cream craving. And the price is quite reasonable, considering the quality of the ice cream and the fact that it's located in a mall.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the yogurt speeculoos ice cream at Huggs Collective. It's the perfect treat on a hot day, or anytime you need a little pick-me-up. Shiok!

Burnt to a Crisp:( Disappointing Cheesecake
The burnt cheesecake and cappuccino at The Whole Kitchen were both underwhelming. The cheesecake had a strong burnt taste that overpowered any other flavors, and the texture was dry and crumbly. The cappuccino was also lacking, with weak coffee flavor and lukewarm temperature. Overall, I would not recommend either of these items from The Whole Kitchen lol. I’ll probably try something else. Nice cozy decor though ! (:

"Yaaas! Another ice-cream shop has opened up in Katong and let me tell you, I had the pleasure of trying their pistachio and Ferraro ice cream flavors and let me tell you, they were nice:) The pistachio had a rich nutty flavor and the Ferraro was the perfect balance of chocolate and nuttiness. IPPUDO Ramen @I12 Katong
At IPPUDO at I12 Katong and tried both the Tsukumen ramen and the Shiromaru Motoaji ramen. Both were excellent and I highly recommend them.
The Tsukumen ramen was particularly unique, with a flavourful broth that was refreshing and flavorful, and thick noodles that were cooked perfectly. The tsukumen, or dipping noodles, were made with a mixture of wheat and egg, giving them a slightly chewy texture that worked well with the broth. The chashu slices were tender and added a nice contrast to the noodles. Overall, the Tsukumen ramen was a delightful and satisfying bowl of noodles.
The Shiromaru Motoaji ramen was equally impressive. The broth was a classic salt and tonkotsu (pork bone) broth that was creamy and rich, with a depth of flavor that was truly delicious. The noodles were slightly thinner than the tsukumen noodles, and they held up well to the hearty broth. The toppings of pork belly, scallions, and seaweed #2023TravelWish #singapore #singapore #ramenhouse #Ramen #japanese added a nice balance to the dish.
Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the ramen at IPPUDO at I12 Katong. Both the Tsukumen and Shiromaru Motoaji were delicious and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is a fan of ramen. The service was also excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who made the dining experience enjoyable. If you're in the area, I highly recommend giving IPPUDO a try.
A Trip Down To Neptune Cafe
Everyone says east side is the best side, and I know why, because there are tons of things to do, explore and also a place filled with many restaurants and cafes. And these are not your ordinary restaurants and cafes, they have built a reputation for themselves already.
One of which is the Neptune cafe located at 237 E Coast Rd, Singapore 428930, which is also a sister cafe of atlas coffeehouse and columns coffee company which many are also familiar of!
Neptune has a different genre where it is more towards Japanese inspired dishes with a cafe feel. But its very much your typical cafe with good coffee and pasta and a much better comfy ambience ^^
Do go there early on a weekend, the queue even starts before the cafe opens.

Singapore’s Famous 328 Katong Laksa
Getting There - Alight at Aljunied MRT (Green Line) and board bus service 40 to Opp. Roxy Square.
Food - Katong Laksa (specialty), Dim Sum.
Shopping - i12 Katong, Katong V Mall, Roxy Square, etc. are nearby.
One of the more popular Katong Laksa stores in Singapore. The laksa is a noodle dish that is coated with an aromatic broth (coconut milk plus other ingredients). 328 Katong Laksa’s serving comes in two sizes: Small portion (SGD 7.30) and the big portion (SGD 9.30). Prices are accurate as of March 2024. Apart from the restaurant, I found Katong to be a unique neighbourhood with plenty of heritage buildings. It’s also not far off from the Geylang Serai—Paya Lebar area, which also offers an abundance of food options.

Bruno’s Pizzaria & Grill (Italian)
My intense craving for pizza got me mad searching for an Italian restaurant and thankfully, I found myself a decent and affordable pizzaria based on good google ratings - Bruno’s Pizzaria & Grill at Tanjong Katong. No regrets at all!
Tried their onion soup and lobster bisque which really hits the spot, but what impressed me most was the burrata pizza we ordered. The creaminess of the burrata goes well together with the tanginess of their red sauce and Parma ham - a perfect match!
Wanted to give a shout-out to also their friendly and attentive staff who are always on the lookout should you require them!

An absolute delight to chance upon The Neptune, which sits pretty in the corner of 237 East Coast Road. 100% chill cafe-vibes where you can instantly picture yourself enjoying a cuppa and a good book.
I tried their burnt brussel sprouts which was amazing, steak ratatouille & mash with such tender chunks of meat and blondie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which was a pleasant sweet finish to our meal. There are so many other items in their menu which I would head back again to try.

Breakfast Optilns @ East Coast Road
#singapore #eastside #east #katong #breakfast #foodie #foodsg #localfood #weekend
East sides are lucky with the many food options not only late in the night but also for breakfast.
Along the entire East Coast road there are many breakfast food options located here. All the local singapore food like nasi lemak, curry puff, laya butter toast. And all these are super popular and crowded especially on weekends, you will encounter long wait times and sadly also parking is a hassle here due to all the narrow roads. If you want, do arrive here early before the crowd arrive.

Tried dining at Doongji Restaurant, located at East Coast Rd. I ordered their Korean Fried Chicken, and it was really yummy. The chicken was perfectly cooked and had a crispy exterior, while still being juicy and tender on the inside. The sauce was flavorful and had just the right amount of spice.
What really stood out to me, though, was the free flow appetizers that were served before the meal. They were all so delicious and diverse, with a range of flavors and textures. I especially loved the kimchi and pickled vegetables - they were the perfect complement to the fried chicken.

Most Famous 328 Katong Laksa !
I got chance of visiting 328 Katong Laksa and indulging in their famous Katong laksa dish. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
As soon as I took my first spoonful of the rich, spicy broth, I was hit with a burst of flavor.
One thing that I particularly appreciated about this dish was how well-balanced the flavors were. Despite the spiciness of the broth, it wasn't overpowering or too intense. Instead, it had just the right amount of heat to give it a kick, without overwhelming my taste buds.
