Great City, wonderful garden, perhaps best in the world. How ancient Chinese enjoy their life.
Place of harmony
Suzhou Museum is located in Pingjiang District (204 Dongbei Jie). An interesting place for photographs is the white buildings of the museum on the water, they represent the museum on the Internet. They express the idea of the connection between the past and the present, their architecture has both ancient Chinese and modern features. There are ancient Chinese things here, but there are also exhibitions of modern art. You can also walk around the territory of the museum, it is like a big garden, here you can see different trees, for example, bamboo. There is water and bridges, you can see big red fish. It is also interesting that the museum changes at different times of the day, there is a play of light and shadow.

Have you ever visited the Suzhou Museum? if you haven’t, you’re missing out on such an interesting experience and here’s why.
The Suzhou museum is unlike many museums and general structures anywhere in China because of its unique architecture and aesthetic.
This museum was designed by the world famous architect I.M Pei, who is famous for his use of basic geometric shapes like the circle, Square, triangles, and using them to design really unique structures that have a blend of the ultra modern style with the ancient Chinese look. He is also the master mind behind some famous structures in the world such as the louvre pyramid in Paris, the Mesa lab in Colorado, and many other museums.
This museum also has many interesting things to see and do inside like shopping, reading having coffee, or just enjoy the peace! #suzhou #scenicspotguide #suzhoumuseum #travelinspiration

Brought the child to the Suzhou Museum and the Humble Administrator's Garden
The university professor once talked about I.M. Pei's design of the Suzhou Museum, and I've always wanted to see it. Finally, my wish came true, and I brought my son along. I booked a lecture by a famous speaker, who made it very lively and interesting. My child was willing to listen. After visiting the Suzhou Museum, we went to the nearby Humble Administrator's Garden, which was also very beautiful!
Suzhou Travel Guide
Here is a four-day and three-night travel guide for Suzhou:
• Day 1: Humble Administrator's Garden - Pingjiang Road. The Humble Administrator's Garden is the foremost of Suzhou's four famous gardens. It is recommended to purchase tickets online in advance and hire a guide. In the afternoon, you can stroll along Pingjiang Road, where there is a storytelling hall where you can listen to a genuine piece of Wu dialect soft language. Pingjiang Road is also the filming location of the TV series 'All Is Well', where tourists can go to take photos. Additionally, there are authentic Suzhou-style sweet porridges in the alleys off Pingjiang Road.
• Day 2: Suzhou Museum - Guanqian Street. The Suzhou Museum is the final masterpiece of the master architect I. M. Pei, with the concept of 'letting light make the design'. The ingenious integration of pools, bamboo, mountains, and rocks makes the museum itself a precious piece of art. Admission is free, but remember to book in advance on holidays. In the afternoon, you can go to Guanqian Street to experience the local atmosphere of Suzhou.
• Day 3: Lion Grove Garden - Shantang Street. The Lion Grove Garden is one of the gardens in Suzhou worth visiting, resembling a kingdom of rockeries and a labyrinth, with various Taihu rocks vividly presented. In the evening, you can go to Shantang Street to enjoy the night view of the Jiangnan region.
• Day 4: Surrounding ancient towns. You can visit the nearby Tongli Ancient Town or Zhouzhuang Ancient Town to experience the ink-wash ambiance of waterside Jiangnan.

⭐️The Suzhou Tourism Information Center opposite the museum offers 3 free stamps, estimated to end at 20:00
⭐️Inside the Jun Dao Suzhou store next to the Suzhou City Tourism Information Center, you can get a stamp, estimated to end at 20:00
📣Complaint:
I don't understand why many places in Suzhou require a purchase before you can get a stamp, which was supposed to be a way of interacting with tourists and keeping a souvenir, but it has become a way of consumption❣️
📸Photo Spots:
The best work of Suzhou Museum is the design of the entire building, designed by I. M. Pei, great for photography!
🔸It's better to go in the morning when there are fewer people and the lighting is better. I went in the afternoon, and the courtyard was particularly crowded, had to queue up!
🔸The rockery in the courtyard is a good photo spot, but you may need to queue due to the crowd, and the overall architecture adds to the atmosphere, especially if you wear artistic clothing!
🔸The long bench windows on both sides of the Tiger Hill exhibition hall are good for silhouette photography
🔸There are also many fish in the pool, do not feed them, and be careful when taking photos!

A Must-Visit Design Mecca for Museum Lovers - Suzhou Museum
Suzhou, with its three thousand years of history, is a tome of romance and elegance. Even though it is not the capital city of Jiangsu, Suzhou's brilliance has never been overshadowed. To flip through the three thousand years of Suzhou, naturally, one must visit the Suzhou Museum.
The new building (main hall) of Suzhou Museum was designed by the renowned Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei. From its shape to the setting, and even the lighting, a great deal of the designer's effort has been infused, no wonder it captivates people with its architecture first.
Inside the museum's tower is a glass skylight in the shape of a pyramid. Beneath the glass apex, there are delicate round tubes that disperse the incoming light, either diffusely or refractively, preventing glare and making the natural light inside the space especially soft. The interior space is a projection of the roof form, and the lines and stacks create a complex shape that is a rare phenomenon in I.M. Pei's works.
⏱️Opening Hours: Closed on Mondays, Tuesday to Sunday 9:00~17:00 (No entry after 16:00)
🚇Transport: Take Exit 4 at Beisi Pagoda Station on Metro Line 4 and walk 900 meters to the north exit.

Shanghai-Suzhou-Zhejiang Parent-Child Travel Nanny-Level Guide Part Two—Suzhou (2 Days)
Take the high-speed train from Shanghai to Suzhou. There are many trains, and it takes about 30 minutes to get to Suzhou, which is very convenient.
Stay: It is recommended to stay near Pingjiang Road in Suzhou, which is close to the Humble Administrator's Garden, Lion Grove, Suzhou Museum, and Humble Administrator's Garden Bus Station. You can walk to these places. We booked a hotel on Pingjiang Road.
Day One: Humble Administrator's Garden, Hanshan Temple, Shantang Street
After arriving in Suzhou in the morning, go straight to eat. We found a local Suzhou restaurant near the hotel and had squirrel-shaped mandarin fish, osmanthus sugar lotus roots...
🌟 In the afternoon, walk to the Humble Administrator's Garden (Suzhou Museum and Lion Grove are near the Humble Administrator's Garden. Since we didn't want to get too tired, we only visited the Humble Administrator's Garden on the first day)—a representative work of Suzhou gardens. If you only want to visit one garden, the Humble Administrator's Garden is a good choice.
🌟 After leaving the Humble Administrator's Garden, head to Hanshan Temple. Hanshan Temple doesn't burn incense in the afternoon, just for a visit. We saw the Maple Bridge and the stele of the poem 'Mooring by Maple Bridge at Night'...
🌟 Shantang Street is not far from Hanshan Temple. After leaving Hanshan Temple, you can go to Shantang Street. The night view of Shantang Street is more beautiful than during the day, so it is recommended to go at night and take a rocking boat tour on Shantang River to experience the charm of small bridges and flowing water.
Day Two: Suzhou Museum, Lion Grove, Pingjiang Road
🌟 Sleep in the morning and then visit the Suzhou Museum designed by master I.M. Pei. There is a special area designed for children where they can learn the basics of calligraphy and painting.
At noon, we found a restaurant where we could listen to Pingtan, a form of musical storytelling. Eating while listening to Pingtan has a unique charm.
🌟 In the afternoon, visit Lion Grove. It is a paradise for boys, full of rockeries. Each rockery is like a maze, and playing is so much fun. The baby climbed each rockery several times until I was too tired to let him stop.
🌟 In the evening, stroll along Pingjiang Road. Pingjiang Road is an old historical street in Suzhou, a small path along the river, which is named Pingjiang River. Walking along Pingjiang Road and snacking—sweet soups, small dumplings, plum blossom cakes, and crabapple cakes are all good choices.
Suzhou Museum
🌟 Highlights:
The architectural style of Suzhou Museum is unique and reflects the characteristics of Suzhou, making it worth a visit!
🚉 Transportation Tips:
It is recommended to use public transportation as parking is difficult.
Don’t Miss Out I.M.Pei’s Suzhou Museum
Suzhou Museum. Designed by the same master architect of the Louvre in Paris, the Suzhou Museum is a beautiful space defined by geometric edges that are reminiscent of Suzhou’s buildings.
Admission is free but you need to book a time slot for entry on the museum’s website. Each slot allows you 1 hour but I saw many visitors lingering around.
Truly an awe-inspiring space that is world class level.

20 Tips to Avoid Pitfalls When Visiting Suzhou in March
1️⃣ It's currently 2-15°C in Suzhou🌡️, with significant temperature differences between day and night due to the late spring cold. Remember to bring warm clothes🧥
2️⃣ For Suzhou gardens, besides the Humble Administrator's Garden, you can also visit the Couple's Retreat Garden and the Master of Nets Garden this season. The plum and magnolia blossoms are just right🌸
3️⃣ If it's your first time taking a night tour🌃 of the gardens, I recommend the Master of Nets Garden, which features live Kunqu opera performances.
4️⃣ You must book the Suzhou Museum in advance!! It's currently by timed reservation, at least 2 days ahead!🕐
5️⃣ The Suzhou Museum is closed on Mondays, and entry stops at 4 pm. Opening hours are from 9 am to 5 pm🕐
6️⃣ Pingjiang Road is next to the Humble Administrator's Garden, a hotspot for gourmet food🍜. To be honest, the bamboo tube milk tea is just for good photos.
7️⃣ On Pingjiang Road, you can take a ride on a sculling oared boat for 40r/person💰, with the trip lasting about half an hour🕐. I recommend going at dusk when the lights and shadows of the oars create the most romantic atmosphere.
8️⃣ Teacher Wu Liangying's Suzhou Pingtan can be found at the 'Pipa Language Pingtan Teahouse' on Pingjiang Road, with 5 shows in the afternoon and 3 in the evening. You need to queue on-site to choose the showtime and seats. If you're in a hurry, I suggest going early to book⚠️
9️⃣ Next to the 'Suzhou' log on Pingjiang Road is the Seven Percent Sweet. You can directly navigate there🧭
1️⃣0️⃣ For night views🌃 on Shantang Street, it's best to arrive around 5 pm🕐, as dusk is the most beautiful.
1️⃣1️⃣ Shantang Street is free, and it's a 3-minute walk🕐 from Exit 3 of Shantang Street on Subway🚇 Line 2.
1️⃣2️⃣ Suzhou doesn't have an airport🈚️. Suzhou Station is in the city center, closest to the Humble Administrator's Garden, Suzhou Museum, and Pingjiang Road.
1️⃣3️⃣ The ancient towns around Suzhou are a bit far from the city center, but Mudu Ancient Town and Tongli Ancient Town are accessible by subway🚇.
1️⃣4️⃣ If you're visiting the ancient towns, I suggest setting aside a whole day🕐. You can stay in the town and I recommend taking a covered boat🚢.
1️⃣5️⃣ When visiting Suzhou, I recommend cycling. Buy a 'Suzhou Hand-drawn Cycling Map' to experience the local atmosphere🎆.
1️⃣6️⃣ If you want to eat vegetarian noodle dishes in Suzhou, I recommend going to Xiyuan Temple, with prices at 10/15r💰 per bowl.

One must visit Suzhou twice in a lifetime
One must visit Suzhou twice in a lifetime, once to anticipate, and once to reminisce.
The first time I went to Suzhou, it felt like there weren't many people, it was very quiet, and I liked it a lot. I told my friend at the time that we must go again. The second time I went, it suddenly felt like there were a lot more people everywhere. Pingjiang Road and some small gardens were full of people taking photos in ancient costumes.
The classical garden area is dense with attractions, with the Humble Administrator's Garden, Lion Grove Garden, and Suzhou Museum all close to each other, and can be visited together.
I recommend half a day for the above three attractions. Although the gardens are beautiful, the crowds make it hard to feel relaxed.
Lingering Garden and Shantang Street are not far apart and can be arranged for the afternoon, after visiting the Lingering Garden, head to Shantang Street for a meal.
Jinji Lake is very large and divided into several areas, making it very suitable for leisurely walks, and there are bicycles for rent, leisure tourists can arrange half a day.
Hanshan Temple is adjacent to Maple Bridge, and the surrounding area has become somewhat rundown.
If you have more time, you can also arrange to visit nearby ancient towns, such as Zhouzhuang and Tongli.
Explore Suzhou Ancient City in a Different Way: 20 Essential Tips to Avoid Tourist Traps
Suzhou/20 Essential Tips to Avoid Tourist Traps❗
-
You should always make a trip to the south of the Yangtze River.
Suzhou is like the gentle moonlight of the south.
-
✅After many trips to Suzhou within a year, here are 20 tips to avoid tourist traps, hoping to provide some references for friends.
-
1. Suzhou does not have an airport, but it has two train stations: Suzhou Station and Suzhou North Station.
2. Suzhou North Station is a high-speed train station, which is relatively far from the city center. It is recommended to get off at Suzhou Station, which is in the city center and more convenient for transportation.
3. The roads in Suzhou are mostly straight, making it easy to navigate, so even those with a poor sense of direction won't easily get lost.
4. Pingjiang Road is the most well-preserved ancient river street in Suzhou Ancient City. Don't forget to visit Da Ru Lane, Lilac Lane, and Niu Family Lane.
5. Besides Pingjiang Road, you can also take a sculling boat ride on Shantang Street.
6. There are many gardens in Suzhou, and you must visit the Humble Administrator's Garden. If time permits, Canglang Pavilion is also worth a visit.
7. For those who plan to visit gardens at night, it is recommended to go to the Master of Nets Garden, where there is a live Kunqu opera performance.
8. Suzhou Museum is open from 9 am to 5 pm, closed on Mondays, and stops admitting visitors after 4 pm.
9. For Shantang Street, take Metro Line 2 to Shantang Street Station and exit from Exit 3, which is closer.
10. For Suzhou's night scenery, besides Shantang Street, you can also visit Jinji Lake. There is a musical fountain show on weekends starting at 7:30 pm, lasting 20 minutes.
11. Eslite Bookstore is next to Jinji Lake, featuring the most beautiful staircase for a photo opportunity.
12. You can listen to Kunqu opera and Pingtan at the Suzhou Kunqu Museum, Pingtan Museum, Shantang Kunqu Theatre, Shantang Academy, etc.
13. Besides Zhouzhuang, Mudu and Tongli ancient towns are also worth staying for a few days.
14. The entrance fee for Lingyan Mountain in Mudu is only 1 yuan, which is an absolute bargain for a scenic spot.
15. For late-night snacks in Suzhou, you can go to Jingde Road Wu Qu Fang, Nanyuan Road Nanyuan Bridge South, and other places in the city center.
16. If you're going to the Twin Towers Market, be prepared to queue. If you're going just for the sake of checking in, it's not highly recommended.
17. If you want to eat noodles in Suzhou, I personally recommend Tongde Xing for its authentic taste. The Mengzi Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles from old Suzhou are also worth trying.
18. The signature dish, Squirrel-shaped Mandarin Fish, is really good. It's my personal favorite, and you can hardly go wrong with it.
19. For accommodation, you can choose to stay near Pingjiang Road, which is close to the attractions.
20. For those buying souvenirs, you can consider purchasing some Suzhou-style pastries and various local candies.

Suzhou / Suzhou Travel / Suzhou Travel Guide
The current situation in Suzhou in March, decide whether to go after reading
Suzhou has finally started to warm up, with temperatures averaging in the teens, but the temperature is still unstable. It will be warmer after April, and it is now possible to wear skirts with a sweater cardigan outside, and it's not cold when there is sunshine☀️ outside.
Currently, there is also a significant number of people, but it is much better than during holidays. It is recommended to visit Suzhou from Monday to Thursday to avoid the peak, and from Friday to Sunday, there are noticeably more tourists.
🚄Transportation:
1. Do not take taxis within the Suzhou city area, especially in the old city, as it is very congested. Use the subway or shared bicycles instead.
2. It is recommended to go to Suzhou Station, where subway lines 2/4 are available.
3. If you stay in the Gusu District, you can get up early in the morning and go out to avoid the crowds.
✅Must-visit attractions:
1️⃣ Suzhou Museum: It has the main hall and the west hall. The main hall is the current popular spot, mainly for the architecture, while the west hall is for viewing collections and cultural relics. The main hall is super hard to book, everyone now comes to Suzhou Bo to open, 'using the pink wall as paper, the bamboo as painting', a view at every step. If you can't book the main hall, you can go to the west hall.
2️⃣ Humble Administrator's Garden: The foremost of China's four famous gardens, with lotus flowers reflecting the willows, it is the most representative garden, so it is super crowded. If it is a holiday, it is not recommended to go to the Humble Administrator's Garden, go to the less popular gardens, which are also exquisite.
4️⃣ Pingjiang Road: Half of Gusu City in one Pingjiang Road. This is the abbreviation of old Suzhou, the street is not long, with small bridges and flowing water, the sound of oars, have a cup of tea, listen to the soft Wu dialect once.
5️⃣ Shantang Street: The dream of Jiangnan with misty rain, stepping into seven miles of Shantang. Come to see the night view in the evening, the moment the lights come on, small bridges, flowing water, and houses, blue bricks, and white tiles, make you think of 'spring is not late, I have arrived at the true Jiangnan'.
6️⃣ Tiger Hill: China's 'Leaning Tower of Pisa', where there are not many people, the 'first mountain in Wu' for a thousand years~~ The mountain is not high, not strenuous, the main attractions are at the top of the mountain, spend half a day to turn around.
7️⃣ Lion Grove: One of Suzhou's four famous gardens, go to the Lion Grove to see the rockery, the rockery is like a maze, a view at every step, go early, there are also many people.
8️⃣ Hanshan Temple: For that line 'Outside Gusu city is Hanshan Temple, where the midnight bell reaches the passenger boat', bring the kids to check in at Hanshan Temple. Hanshan Temple also has plain noodles, sweet Suzhou-style fine noodles, next to it is Maple Bridge.
✅Lesser-known gardens:
📍Lingering Garden: Exquisite and elegant, a view at every step, unique, the central part is the essence, with landscape as the highlight; the eastern part is courtyard architecture; the northern part is pastoral scenery; the western part has towering trees, great for taking photos in a cheongsam.
📍Couple's Garden Retreat: Themed around love, surrounded by water on three sides, facing the street on one side, very quaint, with winding paths leading to secluded spots.
📍Yi Pu: Retains the style of Ming Dynasty gardens, highly recommended, located in a quiet alley.
📍Yi Garden: Built during the Guangxu period, it is considered late among Suzhou gardens, looking forward to the blooming of magnolias in spring.
📍Ke Garden: It is the existing academy garden in Suzhou, the artistic conception of Ke Garden's plum blossoms is unmatched!
📍Canglang Pavilion: Opposite Ke Garden is Canglang Pavilion, the most ancient-style garden in Suzhou, surrounded by water on three sides, cool in summer.
📍Huanxiu Villa: The rockery inside the garden is the biggest highlight, created by the Qing Dynasty rockery master Ge Yuliang.
With a single phrase of 'spring is not late', I find myself truly in the Jiangnan region
As the lanterns light up,
pleasure boats shuttle back and forth, and the streets are bustling with people.
You must visit Shantang Street in Suzhou at night~
When the lights are fully lit,
I feel as if I have arrived in the true Jiangnan.
'When you come to Gusu, you will see houses all along the river.'
This is the place of wealth and romance depicted by Cao Xueqin in his writings.
Shantang Street: It's really crowded,
but the sunset and the night view are truly beautiful!
Taking a ride on a black-awning boat is so romantic~
Pingjiang Road: There are so many delicious things! It takes more than half an hour to walk down one street, all spent eating and drinking (there's also Guanqian Street, similar but different).
Hanshan Temple: So pretty and beautiful~
It doesn't lose out to the neighboring Lingyin Temple (remember to buy incense at the entrance in advance, it's more cost-effective!)
The pond full of koi is absolutely stunning. In the morning, you can have a famous bowl of vegetarian noodles nearby.
Zhuozheng Garden: It can be toured in just a few minutes (not really) and it's not as stunning as imagined, but it's still nice for taking photos.
Suzhou Museum: Along with Zhuozheng Garden and Lion Grove, it can be covered in half a day. You need to book the museum one week in advance! (The picture is of the main hall, the West Hall can be booked one day in advance).
But the museum is really, really, really beautiful and great for photography! The area selling souvenirs is also worth a long visit! Lots of desirable items~
Hotel: We chose the Indigo, with a standard room averaging 400 per person, offering a perfect view of the city skyline! Absolutely!
Hot Springs: If you have enough time, you can drive to Wangyan Hot Springs, said to be the largest outdoor hot spring in the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai area. It's really fun! And there's a pool full of little yellow ducks! So fun you won't want to leave!
Food:
1. Crab Delicacies: Reserve two and a half hours to enjoy (you can queue up first and then have enough time to visit Pingjiang Road and Zhuozheng Garden).
2. Tea-colored Misty Rain: All three stores are on Pingjiang Road, but they are always crowded. The photos look good, but the trash cans are full of unfinished milk tea, you know what I mean!
3. Overlord Tea Princess is quite popular, and it's really good. Tea Yan Yue Se is also nice.
5. Liugongge's puzzle dishes, called Xinmeihua, are frequented by locals and are delicious!
That's all for today, see you next time~
