The room was relatively clean, but small. It was easy to find by taxi, and there's a delicious Russian restaurant next door (Figure 2). It's close to attractions and the city center, and the neighborhood is quiet. It's best to ask for a ground-floor room when checking in, as there will be a lot of pedestrian traffic.
The hotel can provide proof of residency.

The island is really expensive! And this price is on the first floor. There is a public toilet and bathroom that also needs to be stitched. It is indeed a bit inconvenient, but most of the island seems to be like this. If you mind, you can look for it again.
The location is close to Shamanyan, a minute walk, convenient to watch the sunset, but there may be not many street lights when you come back at night.
There is a public refrigerator. Under the window of our room is the place where cattle eat grass. It is good to see a little view of the pointed roof in the village.

Валентина П.We stayed twice (October 6, 2025 and October 17, 2025). The location is excellent—close to the airport and no road noise. Wonderful, helpful staff—from reception to room service from the restaurant. The breakfasts are wonderful, in a cozy restaurant. The food at the Okhotnikov restaurant is a whole other story! Huge portions, delicious food...and, for especially picky little guests, they even prepare porridge, mashed potatoes, and salad. 🙏 I'm very grateful to the staff! Any request I make by calling reception is fulfilled immediately, without long waits—both from the maid and from the restaurant. Thank you for your work! I won't look for other options anymore; we will only stay at Zvezda. 🫶🏻

XxxxxxcdThe location is good, close to the Epiphany Cathedral and Lake Angara, both within walking distance. There's a Chinese restaurant and a supermarket downstairs.
The room was tiny, barely enough space to turn around. Breakfast was genuinely awful. A nice touch was the water dispenser in the hallway. The Wi-Fi in the room was so bad it couldn't even load WeChat.
Front desk service was pretty mediocre. I asked to store two pieces of luggage. He said the first one was free and the second would be charged. I asked if that was per person or per room, and he just repeated, ”The first one is free, the second one is charged.” I explained that there were two of us, and asked if the rule was per person or per room. He repeated himself again, so I gave up trying to reason and just paid – 100 rubles per bag, which was okay. Then I asked what to do next, and he just said, ”Go over there.” I asked if I should find someone or just leave the bags there. He said to find security. There were two Russian guys chatting in the distance, and I asked, ”Which one?” He just said, ”One of them.” I'm not sure if it was a language barrier or what, but it seems Russians aren't big on polite phrases anyway; I got used to it after a few days.

Elizaveta 0708Excellent breakfasts (buffet) for 750 rubles per person. The standard room is a bit cramped for two. The stated bottle of water, toothpaste, and comb were not there. There is a water cooler on the floor, you can order food from the restaurant to your room, it will be delivered to your room for +10% on your check. There were no face towels, there were disposable slippers, a safe, and a small refrigerator. Comfortable bed, room has different pillows to choose from

Guest UserRoom: The room is well-equipped, typical of a mid-range business hotel. They provide a limited amount of bottled water daily. The twin beds are quite spacious, probably 1.2 meters wide.
Service: The front desk staff can speak English. They offer luggage storage, and I spent quite a while sitting at the front desk waiting for my car, which was great since they also have charging ports. Big thumbs up for that! Plus, they even surprised me with a birthday treat – absolutely amazing!
Food: Breakfast was just okay.

We stayed in a room with two single beds, and the room and bathroom were very small! Our friends all booked rooms with two single beds, but their rooms and bathrooms were larger than ours – it seems to depend on luck when rooms are assigned! Looking at the hotel's room assignment map, rooms 1 and 2 are the larger rooms. There was no complimentary bottled water in the room, but there was a hot and cold water dispenser at the front desk and on each floor. The dispensers always had cold water, but the one on my floor didn't have hot water! Regarding the hotel's free Wi-Fi, the first method is to rely on the front desk staff to help you connect to the hotel Wi-Fi, but this only works on the front desk floor! The second method also relies on the front desk staff, but you need a local Russian mobile phone number to receive the hotel Wi-Fi authentication SMS, which allows you to use the hotel Wi-Fi in your room! There's no elevator, and we stayed on the third and fourth floors, making it difficult to move our luggage! There was an electric kettle in the room, a wall-mounted radiator, and another electric heater that you could plug in yourself. The bathroom didn't have heating or a heated towel rack, but the hot water and water pressure were sufficient. Breakfast is a buffet and quite good, with hot water, coffee, and tea also provided. The hotel is located near the Central Market, about a ten-minute walk away. The hotel reception is staffed 24 hours a day; they are helpful and can assist with booking taxis via an app. Even if there is a language barrier, they can use the app for translation.

Guest UserThe stay was excellent! The hotel facilities are very modern, and every detail in the room was thoughtfully considered. The toiletries were high-quality, the bathroom was very clean, and there was plenty of hot water, making it very comfortable. The hotel restaurant is also worth trying; the local specialties are delicious, and the service is attentive. The staff, in particular, were warm and professional, making me feel very welcome. In short, highly recommended, and I will definitely stay again.

The island is mostly filled with guesthouses like these, with shared bathrooms and showers, owners who speak English, good natural scenery, and decent locations. I heard that to protect the island's environment, large-scale hotel construction is not allowed, so almost all the accommodations on the island are of this type.

There is a Chinese painting in the room. It is estimated that the main reception is for Chinese people. The check-in experience is very good. The walking distance around the hotel is Karl Marx Street. It is very convenient to eat and travel. The front desk lady is very good to help us take a taxi.
