Traveling to Kobe with my parents, choosing Portopia Hotel was definitely the right decision! First off, they have a shuttle bus that makes getting to and from Sannomiya super convenient. Secondly, the hotel exudes an old-school luxury, with thoughtful design evident everywhere. The extra bed was incredibly comfortable, and the restaurant offers amazing views. My only regret is that we had to leave the rooftop observation deck quickly due to strong winds.
The sea view room offers an unbeatable view, with the Ferris wheel and Kobe Port Tower all visible. The room is spacious and very clean, with a balcony where you can watch both sunrise and sunset. The hotel's breakfast is highly recommended, with a wide variety of Japanese and American options, including freshly made mini-burgers – definitely give them a try!

The hotel is quite big. It takes a big slope to get there from the station. It's too hard to pull the luggage. I wanted to call to pick up, but the store number provided by Ctrip was one digit less, so I couldn't get through. It happened that a ********* family called the station pick-up number and picked us up together.
The hotel is good, the service staff is very enthusiastic, the mountain view outside the window is beautiful, and there is no one in the hot spring at night, so you can enjoy the private bath treatment.
You can also open a private bath for free.
Because Ctrip's phone number is wrong, I can't contact the hotel, and I didn't book dinner in advance. When I checked in, the dinner was fully booked. I wanted to find food in the town, but the better restaurants were also fully booked. Be sure to book dinner in advance during the peak tourist season.
Excellent hotel for a family stay. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, making it easy to relax with children. The staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to help.
The location was convenient, and the overall atmosphere felt safe and family-friendly. Great value for a comfortable and enjoyable family trip. Highly recommended.

The name of the great architect is worth 200, the breakfast experience is worth 100, and the rest is the room fee. So you can't expect much from the facilities in the room. It cost so much money to build it on the mountain, but the balcony of the room facing the sea is completely blocked by green plants. I don't know why.
The hotel was very crowded during the three-day holiday, so I didn't particularly notice the hotel service. However, the shuttle bus was incredibly convenient! Just be sure to note that the return times and the times for the shuttle to Sannomiya are different. Although it wasn't a direct ocean view room, the scenery was still nice, and I even saw a rainbow~ The carpets had no strange odors, and the clean elevators were a big plus~ On another note, I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're planning on shopping a lot, it's quite far out.
We rented a villa-style house with an open-air bathtub. The room was very spacious and stylishly designed. We had to walk to the hot spring in the main building at night (it was average), but we were given a coupon for the ”Jikkai no Yu” hot spring (in the same resort). This hot spring was very large and beautiful, with complete facilities, and is worth recommending.

I used it for three sisters and nine people.
I booked another 々 room, but I was on the same floor.
The dinner and breakfast buffet had a lot of vegetables and was very delicious. I didn't mess around and enjoyed the meal slowly.
It was the night pool that was popular with the children!
I want to go again next year.

The hotel is very large, so the facilities are very much maintained. The service here is more friendly, although most waiters don't speak English, they can feel their enthusiasm. The biggest advantage here is the invincible sea view, you can see the sunrise without leaving the room.
It was my first time to experience a hot spring hotel. Overall it was very comfortable. Although it is not a new modern hotel, it was a good feeling to experience Japanese culture. There were more Japanese people staying this time. Although we were tourists, the staff entertained us very warmly. Dinner and breakfast were very rich. Although the road is a bit far from the city center, it is still worthwhile to experience this hotel. The room is very large and the scenery is great. It's so spectacular. There are small bugs in the natural environment. It is recommended not to open the windows. Everything else is impeccable. The hotel's care products are also very complete and facial masks are provided. Overall, it is highly recommended.

Not foreigner ( Western & Asian) friendly. We travelled around 70 Roykan in the last 3 years and this is the wrost service we ever had. Japanese get to seat and offered juices when they checked in while we have to stand at the front desk and no juice offered. We asked for the yukata rental (free rental) and the young staff just ignore us twice. We asked for sizes a few times then he just said it’s all here. Then when we picking the only two small sizes he grabbed and give it to the Japanese girl and ignore us or never ask us before he took it as he knows we are looking into those. Very rude.
Most of ryokan will bring you to the room or assist to bring luggage or already put in the room for you. This one you do everything yourself after check in.
When we get into the hotel room it’s hot as no aircon is on. Then air con is broken so we called reception. With their broken English they insisted I don’t know how to turn on the aircon which I told them the air con is broken, after 15mins on the phone showing me how to on I keep telling them to send the staff up as we are so hot in the room as it’s summer and no window open and no fan was on after moving luggage. They came up and fix the air con for 45mins then told us it’s broken and need to change room. The whole hour we were sweating but no offer of water / drinks or anything and we just stand in the room while they fixing. When they decided the room need to be changed, they asked us to wait downstairs but leave the luggage in the room so we thought they will move luggage to the new room but they did not. Staff see us so hot at lobby didn’t tell us there is free drinking machine that we can get ice juices , they just watch us hot and sweat and not saying a word. When the new room is finished, they gave us the new room key and asked us to move the luggage ourself and return the old key. No help at all and wasted 1.5 hours of our onsen time. No apologies as well. I feel like being treated like a trash. Not enjoyable at all.
I paid extra for the sea view room which when they change my room they offered a slightly bigger room but my sea view was mostly blocked (in the pic )which I am not so happy.
There is amenities corner at the lobby, at night after the onsen we come back and want to take the lotion as early on it was gone and they didn’t replenish, the female staff have a bad attitude and flip her eyes ask us which room we stayed, we showed her the key and she said the cream is already in the room which her broken English. There is one set in the room but those are small one time pack which we finish after we had the onsen so we want to take another one. She was rude and insist we can’t take. Her attitude was so bad seems like we are stealing. There is an amenities cornor, if you not allowing guest to take please do not have this setup.
Food is okay with the buffet. Wagyu beef is nice but they is a normal standard for Japanese onsen buffet nothing too special.
Overall, with the price paying compare to other roykan in Japan, this hotel have very bad service to non Japanese. There is also nothing special for this onsen. Probably best to try somewhere else.

GGuest UserGrand Mercure Awaji Island boasts unparalleled sea views of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and the Seto Inland Sea. Its excellent location, however, makes it best suited for guests traveling by car. Our sea-view room was spacious and comfortable, with floor-to-ceiling windows that made the morning sea sunrise a daily spectacle. Both breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of dishes; we especially recommend the Awaji Island milk and local onion specialties. However, dining options nearby are limited, meaning you'll likely rely on the hotel's restaurant for dinner. Without a car, finding other dining spots would require a taxi.
The hotel service was attentive, and the front desk staff spoke fluent English, providing helpful guides to local attractions. While the rooftop open-air hot spring bath isn't natural, it was uncrowded, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing with its sea views. On the downside, the facilities are a bit dated, and there's a noticeable lack of family-friendly entertainment options.
Overall, this hotel is ideal for guests seeking serene sea views and a relaxed pace, offering particularly excellent value for money during the off-season.
__WeChat57961****Due to a canceled flight from Osaka to Sapporo, Trip.com rebooked us for the next day, flying from Kobe, and we stayed at the Crown Plaza Hotel. It's an old, established 5-star hotel, over 30 years old. There are two daily shuttle buses to and from Osaka Kansai Airport, which is very convenient. It's right above Shin-Kobe Station, and a 20-minute walk to Sannomiya. The hotel breakfast was just okay, but the ambiance and service were excellent. Because our flight was canceled, I had to cancel a whiskey distillery tour scheduled for the next afternoon, and the hotel staff kindly helped me call the distillery to arrange that. The price was about a third of what it would cost domestically, making it fantastic value for money.
CCamilla TamI booked this place at the last minute as we wanted to extend our stay in Arima Onsen by one night and most hotels were fully-booked. I searched on *********** but couldn't find any suitable accomodation so thought to try Trip.com. This hotel came up only on this site and I was delighted to find it. At first I was concerned by the lack of reviews, but all the reviews were good and the room looked ideal for a family of four; 2 western beds and 2 tatami beds, with spacious living area and separate bathroom and toilet. It was really great value for money. The size of the room was very generous, and the facilities were great. We made use of the Onsen baths and the table tennis room during our stay. None of the staff spoke english but this wasn't an issue as they were all adept at using google translate. The location is also fine - it is situated between the town and the ropeway, so it is easy walking distance to each, which was very useful since they dont offer any shuttle service. All in all I would reccomend it for a short stay in Arima onsen as it is really good value for money.

NNature_hpns41It’s very nice view from the balcony and felt relax all the time. Also it’s quiet and comfortable bed so I fell in asleep in the middle of the night. I love this atmosphere around the hotel cuz there’re ocean and flower park nearby the place so I could relax hearing the sound of ocean waves in the night.
Definitely I would love to come back here again.
TTrip LOVERssThe room was spacious and comfortable, providing a serene atmosphere for relaxation. The onsen facilities, along with the provided Japanese bath suits and slippers, added a delightful touch to the experience.
The breakfast buffet featured a variety of healthy Japanese options, which I found both satisfying and nourishing. Additionally, the view of Kobe Tower from my room was a charming highlight.
The hotel's design reflects a refined minimalistic luxury, creating an elegant and calming environment. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a blend of comfort and traditional Japanese hospitality.
