Jihuachi Garden was built in the Tang Dynasty and was originally named "East Pavilion". During the Song Dynasty, Zhao Peng, the magistrate of Jiangyuan County, dug a painting pool in the garden. With the management of literati such as Su Yuanlao and Lu You, the garden pattern of the painting pool was basically established, and it became a famous scenic spot in Shu. After the Song Dynasty, most of the official repairs and reconstructions of the Fountain Painting Pool were based on the theme of commemorating Lu You and Zhao Peng, and the Fountain Painting Pond gradually evolved into a public memorial garden today. Most of the existing buildings in the pond are rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. The whole garden consists of three parts: the pond, the Luyou Temple and the Zhou Confucian Temple. The building is well preserved and is one of the few gardens in the Tang and Song Dynasties that have been preserved to this day in China. The painting pool has strong regional characteristics and high artistic value, and is one of the key cultural relics protection units in the country.Show Less
