Fort Eben Emael On the Belgium side of the Dutch border, only 8 kilometers away from Maastricht, buses cannot be reached directly. It is recommended to drive or ride by car. The ordinary tour route is about 2 hours and 30 minutes, about walking. After three years of careful construction, completed in 1935, it is an important part of the Albert Canal defense line. After World War II, the military significance of the fortress has been lost. It is now an underground museum, quietly ambush on the border, witnessing the changes of history.
