The Former Residence of Tang Yin

Tang Yin (1470-1524), courtesy name Bohu, no. The site of Tang Yin's former residence is Baohua An, also known as Wenchang Pavilion, which was listed as a cultural relics protection unit in Suzhou in 1982. In the eighteenth year of Hongzhi (1505), it is said that in the second year of Zhengde (1507), Tang Yin chose a place to build a house in Taohuawu, and signed Taohua Temple. various structures. At the beginning of the Shunzhi reign in the Qing Dynasty, the famous doctor Shen Mingsheng acquired the site and built Mengmo Pavilion, Liuru Pavilion, Taohua Temple, Rongjing Pavilion, etc., which were called Tangjiayuan at that time. During the Qianlong period, Sengchan Forest and Daoxin were rebuilt into Baohua Nunnery, and during the Guangxu period, it was rebuilt as Wenchang Pavilion. The existing building area is 511 square meters, facing south, and it can be roughly divided into two houses with two entrances. The water pavilion built for Linchi is at the head of the west road. It has five rooms of 15.4 meters in width and 9 meters in depth. The second one is the palace. On the east side of the water pavilion, there is a Qing Dynasty slate bridge "Qinglian Bridge" across the pool for access.
