Hurry up and capture it, otherwise your trip to Yuntai Mountain would truly be in vain
Yuntai Mountain, located at the border of Henan and Shanxi, is known for its unique 'Northern Karst Topography' and has been included in the list of the first batch of World Geoparks. It is not only referred to as a 'voluminous history book' of the geological museum but also a 'hundred-mile gallery' of picturesque landscapes.
The eight hundred miles of Taihang Mountains reserve their most beautiful section for Yuntai Mountain. Here, you can not only see geological features but also human history. For geological landscapes, you can visit attractions like Red Stone Gorge, Xiaozhaigou, and Baijiayan, while for human history, you can see Zifang Lake, Zhuyu Peak, and Wanshan Temple.
Red Stone Gorge is the signature attraction of Yuntai Mountain, a geological relic formed by the crustal movement during the Sinian period 1.4 billion years ago, making it a 'miniature landscape world, an enlarged artistic bonsai' named for the deposited red quartz sandstone.
Red Stone Gorge is located 68 meters underground, combining beauty, serenity, grandeur, and danger in one, with springs, waterfalls, streams, and pools in one valley. The cliffs on both sides are exquisitely beautiful, as if carved by the supernatural work of ghosts and gods.
Zhuyu Peak is the main peak of Yuntai Mountain, also known as 'Little North Top'. In ancient times, it was as famous as the Golden Summit of Wudang Mountain in Hubei. It was the holy land for literati, monks, and Taoists to practice. Only by climbing Zhuyu Peak can you feel the artistic conception of Wang Wei's widely cherished poem 'Thinking of My Brothers on the Ninth Day of the Ninth Month', 'From afar I know my brothers have climbed to high places, all but one wearing cornel sprays.'
Xiaozhaigou includes three attractions: Quanpu Gorge, Tanpu Gorge, and Macaque Valley.
Quanpu Gorge's Yuntai Skyfall is one of the iconic landscapes of Yuntai Mountain, known as the highest waterfall in China, with a drop of 314 meters, the largest in China and even Asia.
Tanpu Gorge, with a spring every three steps, a waterfall every five steps, and a pool every ten steps, is an unmissable attraction of Yuntai Mountain. Among them, Lover's Waterfall, Golden Dragon Lying on the Waves, Y-shaped Waterfall, Everlasting Spring, and Water Curtain Waterfall are all classic stopping points.
Macaque Valley is the habitat of Taihang macaques, where you can interact with macaques at close range, which is very interesting and ornamental.
Zifang Lake, also known as 'Ping Lake', is named after Zhang Liang (styled Zifang) of the Han dynasty, who once stood on the peak on the west side of the valley, training troops day and night to help Liu Bang achieve great success and then retired here.
The secluded Wanshan Temple in the mountains is an ancient temple with a long history, built during the Wanli era of the Ming dynasty. It was built by Zhu Yuanzhang to repay the kindness of Master Wuxia for saving his life. The temple name was bestowed by Emperor Shenzong of Ming and was once a royal temple, one of the largest temples in the Central Plains at the time.
Baijiayan is the birthplace of the transition of Chinese landscape garden culture from the court to the common people. Emperor Xian of Han, Liu Xie, once took refuge here to escape the summer heat. During the Wei and Jin dynasties, the seven sages known as the 'Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove' lived in seclusion in the bamboo forest of Baijiayan for more than twenty years.
Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area is indeed well-deserved. The scenery is very good. It is not too tired to climb up. You can take the Jingjiao bus to the peak and walk to the mountain. Climb up to the highest peak all the way, then come down to Fenghuangling, take the ropeway down, the scenery is good 👍

In fact, Yuntai Mountain is generally divided into three scenic spots, one is Hongshixia Zifang Lake, one is Fengfeng Phoenix Mountain, and the other is Xiaozhaigou. Xiaozhaigou is also divided into Tanpuxia Spring Waterfall Gorge Monkey Valley. Personally recommend the canyon with Yuntai Tianpu Waterfall, the scenery is very good. I hope the staff's service will keep up to deserve such a good view
When you come to Henan, Yuntai Mountain is the most worth checking in. The scenery of Yuntai Mountain has its own beauty all year round. The flowers are full of mountains and wild in spring. In summer, you can come to play in the water to escape the heat. In autumn, the red leaves are like colorful clouds. In winter, there is an ice and snow festival. It is like entering a fairy tale world. And the service attitude is very good, it is worth seeing!
I heard that Yuntai Mountain has its own characteristics in the four seasons. Our biggest surprise is the ice waterfall of Quanpu Gorge. The flowing water is frozen and fixed. I can only sigh the ghostly work of nature. Unfortunately, Yuntai Tianpu has been blocked due to ice. I look forward to enjoying it in summer. It must be another scene.
A friend recommended attractions. A worthwhile trip. The scenery is beautiful, the scenery is pleasant, there is the movement of macaque peacocks, the restoration of Qingquan Waterfall, and the shock of Hongshi Gorge! The reason for the strength and time of the elderly, there are many attractions that have not been visited, although some regrets, but also left an expectation for the next tour!
The scenery is pleasant, one step at a time; the service facilities are humanized, and there are many traffic stations, and you can transfer up and down at any time. You can buy a ticket for up to three days at a time. It is not too fast or slow to visit all the attractions according to the tourist route. If the cable car fare can be discounted a little, it would be fine!
