Linwu Stay | A soothing, high-value hotel — traveler post in Linwu

Linwu Stay | A soothing, high-value hotel

I've been to Linwu several times, and I've finally found my go-to hotel! Honestly, this is the cleanest, most comfortable, and most attentive hotel I've stayed at in Linwu 🏨 Compared to cookie-cutter chain hotels, Pinman Chen really has a premium feel! The overall design is a simple, modern Chinese style—sophisticated without being flashy. The lobby is bright and tidy; it’s so relaxing the moment you walk in, with no sense of confinement at all. What impressed me most were the details and cleanliness‼️ The room was spotless! The bedding was fluffy and soft with no odors. The bathroom featured a dry/wet separation, and the toiletries were fully stocked. The lighting was soft, creating the perfect ambiance. The soundproofing at night was excellent, ensuring a super restful sleep until morning 💤 I have to rave about their incredible view! The high-rise floor-to-ceiling windows are absolutely stunning 🌿 Open the window to see the Wushui River scenery. It’s bright and airy during the day, and in the evening, it’s so relaxing to catch the breeze and enjoy the night view. Even no-makeup photos look great without any editing! The stay experience was top-notch ✅ ✅ Free Hanfu for photo ops—no need to spend extra to get beautiful pictures ✅ Rich buffet breakfast with noodles, pastries, and porridge ✅ Free laundry + drying—super convenient for long stays and business trips ✅ 24h front desk service—responsive to any needs ✅ Free parking and gym—the amenities rival those of big-name hotels Whether you're: Visiting Linwu for tourism, a short couple's getaway 💑 A family trip, a gathering with friends, Or even a business trip or a quick overnight stay, This place is perfect! It’s affordable, yet the quality far exceeds other hotels at this price point. If you're looking for a place to stay in Linwu, this is the one! You won't be disappointed 💯

Save this for later, as these 8 "reverse travel" destinations are better to visit in October without the rush — traveler post in Linwu

Save this for later, as these 8 "reverse travel" destinations are better to visit in October without the rush

01 Shangluo | Shaanxi In October, the Qinling Mountains begin to change color. This route in Shangluo is perfect for those wanting to avoid the crowds in Xi'an. The canyon trails at Jinsixia are much quieter after the National Day holiday. ⏰ Arrive before 9:00 AM to enter the mountains; the light hits the narrow valley at an angle, and the sound of water is louder than the crowds. 📍 After exiting the highway at Jinsixia Town, take the dedicated scenic route. 🚄 It takes about 1 hour from Xi'an North to Shangluo West, then transfer to a bus to reach the mountains for a stress-free trip. Tianshuxia is more remote with narrow, winding roads—best for those driving themselves and not in a rush. The core section is enough for seniors and children. Manchuanguan Ancient Town retains its old wharf layout; take a walk along the Jinqian River in the evening. 🍜 Try the local fermented bean curd steamed pork and pickled vegetable noodles, but avoid eating at the first row of restaurants on the main street. The autumn colors at Baita Temple are quite serene. ⚠️ Check the site for current opening hours of some halls; don't rely on old information online and risk a wasted trip. 02 Linyi | Shandong The main colors of the Yimeng Mountains in October are a mix of smoke trees and pine forests. It's windy on the ridges, so bring a windbreaker. The Firefly Cave & Underground Grand Canyon area is great for families; the cave is slippery and has a constant temperature. ⏰ After 2:00 PM, the tour groups leave, making it easier to hear the guides. 📍 There is a tourist shuttle from Yishui County to the scenic area. 🚄 It's smoother to take a taxi from Linyi North Station; don't transfer in the county and take a detour. The Yimeng Mountains cover a large area; just choose between Guimeng or Yunmeng. Go to Guimeng for open ridges, or Yunmeng for forest trails. 🍜 Order the stir-fried chicken and pancakes at the farmhouses at the foot of the mountain by the number of people. ⚠️ Ask about portion sizes before sitting down if offered a set meal by touts at the entrance. The temperature difference between morning and evening in October can be as much as 10 degrees, so keep a light down jacket in the car. 03 Zhangzhou | Fujian Southern Fujian in October still has a lingering humid heat, but it's more comfortable than midsummer. The banyan tree clusters in Yunshuiyao Ancient Town provide perfect shade. ⏰ Arrive before 7:30 AM to hear the sounds of laundry being washed by the creek and ducks before the tourists arrive. 📍 Enter the Nanjing Tulou from Shuyang Town. Tianluokeng and Yunshuiyao are on two different routes, so don't try to do too much in one day. There are extra fees to go upstairs inside the Tulou. ⚠️ Ask before paying, and don't follow unofficial guides. The sea stacks at the Binhai Volcanic National Geopark are best seen at low tide; checking the tide table is more useful than checking the weather. 🍜 The four-fruit soup and hand-beaten beef balls in town are perfect for an afternoon break. 🚄 There are shuttle buses from Zhangzhou Station to Nanjing, but driving yourself offers more freedom, though mountain roads are slow for passing. 04 Chenzhou | Hunan Gaoyiling Danxia has little rain in October; the red rocks and withered grass make for great photos. ⏰ Head up the mountain after 4:00 PM; the backlight turns into side light, and the "Dragon Spine" section is less crowded. 📍 The entrance to the Gaoyiling Scenic Area is different from the newly developed Danxia area. Follow the official parking lot on your GPS. ⚠️ Don't take unofficial paths; there is no signal outside the guardrails. The morning mist at Dongjiang Lake becomes less frequent by the end of October. To see the mist over Little Dongjiang, arrive early—before 6:30 AM at Bridge No. 2. Mangshan Wuzhifeng is worth an overnight stay; the cable car and boardwalk take most of the day, so seniors should pace themselves. 🍜 Dongjiang fish and Linwu duck in Zixing are sold by weight; check the scale before ordering. 🚄 Attractions are scattered from Chenzhou West Station; chartering a car saves more time than ride-sharing. 05 Baoshan | Yunnan Tengchong enters the dry season in October; the sky is crisp and blue. Bring a light jacket for mornings and evenings. Avoid the inns on the main street of Heshun Ancient Town and head deeper into Yinjia Lane. ⏰ After 6:00 PM, the tour groups leave, and the stone paths become quiet. The grass rafts at Beihai Wetland start to turn golden in October; choose the morning when it's less windy to go rafting. 📍 The "Big Boiling Pot" at the Tengchong Volcano and Geothermal Hot Spring Scenic Area is worth seeing but don't stay too long—the sulfur smell is strong. ⚠️ Bring your own swimsuit for the hot springs; they are expensive to buy inside the scenic area. The cable car at Yunfeng Mountain in Tengchong is steep; those afraid of heights can take the cable car up, walk a bit, and come back down. 🍜 Have the "ersi" (rice noodles) and "xidoufen" (chickpea porridge) in the ancient town for breakfast. 🚄 It takes about 30 minutes by taxi from Tuofeng Airport to Heshun, which is faster than transferring from Tengchong Station. 06 Hengshui | Hebei October is the migratory bird season at Hengshui Lake. The reeds turn yellow, and birdwatching is more interesting than flower viewing. ⏰ Bird activity is best from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM. Bring small binoculars. 📍 The birdwatching platform on the east side of the lake is less crowded than the pier side. The road around the lake is great for cycling; bike rentals are charged by the hour. ⚠️ Some wetland areas are closed for maintenance; check the official opening announcement before you go. A short boat trip is enough; the long route isn't great value for money. 🍜 Have the Raoyang tofu pudding and "shoe sole" flatbread in the city for breakfast. 🚄 It's a 20-minute taxi ride from Hengshui Station to the lake. It's windy in October, and the temperature feels lower by the lake than in the city, so bring a scarf. 07 Zhenjiang | Jiangsu Jinshan, Jiaoshan, and Beigushan form a line. The river breeze in October is cool but not biting, perfect for a slow walk. ⏰ Take the ferry to Jiaoshan Island; the first boat at 8:30 AM is the least crowded. The osmanthus flowers behind Dinghui Temple are at the end of their season, but you can still smell them. Choose the afternoon for river views at Beigushan; the lighting is better. 📍 It's a 10-minute taxi ride between the three mountains; don't try to walk it, as the riverside roads are busy. Maoshan in Jurong is far from the city; plan for at least half a day. There are many steps in the Taoist temple area on the mountain. ⚠️ Check the opening hours for the cable car and walking trails separately; don't wait until you're at the foot of the mountain to find out they're closed. 🍜 Have Zhenjiang pot-lid noodles and "yaorou" (cured pork) for lunch; most noodle shops close after 2:00 PM. 🚄 It's just over the starting taxi fare from Zhenjiang Station to Jinshan. 08 Pingliang | Gansu The autumn colors at Kongtong Mountain move from the foot to the top in October. The smoke trees and birch trees mixed with pines create more layers than in summer. ⏰ Take the cable car to the Middle Terrace before 9:00 AM; the clouds haven't dispersed yet, and you won't be shooting against the light. 📍 Kongtong Mountain Scenic Area has two entrances: front and back. The front mountain has dense steps, while the back mountain has a gentler road. Take the back mountain if you're with seniors. The wind on the mountain is strong in October; thin gloves and a hat are practical. ⚠️ Food options on the mountain are limited and expensive; bring your own water and snacks. 🍜 Head back to Pingliang city after descending to have mutton paomo and heluo noodles to warm your stomach. 🚄 It's about a 30-minute taxi ride from Pingliang Station to the scenic area; bus schedules are infrequent, so don't rely on them. The common thread among these eight places is that they aren't overcrowded in October, and the foliage and migratory birds are just right. For a stress-free trip, book your accommodation in Shangluo and Baoshan first. If you want a day trip, choose Hengshui or Zhenjiang. Let us know in the comments whether you prefer heading into the mountains or to the lakeside.

Dishuiyuan Ecology Tourism Area

The Dishuiyuan Scenic Area is located in Linwu County, Chenzhou, at an altitude of 1,124 meters. It is the source of the Pearl River. It is about 4 kilometers away from Linwu County; the high-speed rail Chenzhou Station takes 1.5 hours to reach the scenic area. The planned area of the scenic area is 30 square kilometers. It is a smart ecological tourism circle of "one mountain, one lake, one spring and one waterfall" in Chenzhou. The Dishuiyuan belongs to the karst canyon landform. There are huge rocks at the bottom of the valley. Several waterfalls are like white dragons dancing. The natural scenery of the entire scenic area is better than a fairyland, which makes people imagine endlessly and linger.

Yangtianhu Grassland

It was a fantastic travel experience! We drove there with our dog. Although the winding mountain roads took a long time, it was all worth it. The moment we arrived at the park and saw the expansive scenery, the lush greenery, and the open spaces with meadows and lakes, my mood instantly brightened. This place is perfect for bringing a dog; we had so much fun together. I'd love to go again sometime. While driving takes time and can be tiring, it was definitely worth it. It was a rare and unforgettable experience to travel with my dog like this. This place is truly ideal for dogs, and we saw other tourists with their dogs. Everyone was so friendly. Highly recommended!

Lianzhou underground river

I went there during the National Day holiday. Traffic started to get congested about 2 kilometers from the scenic area. The natural air conditioning inside the cave was very comfortable. It was crowded and the roads were narrow. The boat ride was only 10 minutes, and there were no water bikes available.

Yunbing Mountain Scenic Area

The park opens at 6 AM, and it only took about 20 minutes to get in, mainly because of the ticket check. Before you go, check the weather forecast; otherwise, there's not much to do. Without ice formations and frost, the scenery is just so-so. If you're bringing ice pops, be sure to bring crampons, as the paths are very slippery and it's easy to fall. The wind on the mountain is also very strong.

Mangshan Wuzhifeng Scenic Area

Mangshan Wuzhifeng has a long cable car and an elevator, so the ascent isn't too difficult overall. The scenery on the mountain is beautiful, with occasional clouds and mist. Overall, it's very beautiful.

I think 300 yuan per person is great value for money. It includes a free cable car ride for a panoramic view of the entire park, and a free mini-train ride for a close-up look at the animals on the African savanna – you get to see everything from different angles. We also spent 300 yuan to drive through the park and get a more intimate look at the animals – a very immersive experience. It wasn't the weekend, so it wasn't too crowded. The park staff were very responsible in their explanations. We also ordered a three-person set meal inside the park, which was a bit pricey, but reasonable for the park's price.

Elephant Hill Scenic Area

When visiting Guilin, a must-see is Elephant Trunk Hill, the city's iconic landmark. It truly lives up to its reputation as the face of Guilin's landscape; only by seeing it in person can one truly appreciate the wonders of nature. The entire mountain sits on the banks of the Li River, resembling a giant elephant bowing to drink from the water. The Water Moon Cave cuts through the mountain, its reflection shimmering in the water, creating the famous Elephant Trunk Hill and Water Moon spectacle—a flowing ink painting. The scenic area is clean and comfortable, with walking paths built along the Li River, shaded by lush trees, making for a delightful stroll. You can climb the mountain for panoramic views of Guilin, or find classic vantage points along the riverbank to capture stunning, atmospheric photos. Boat trips are also available, offering a different and breathtaking perspective of Elephant Trunk Hill from the river. The scenic area is conveniently located in the city center, with excellent transportation and comprehensive facilities. Every step reveals a new vista, allowing you to truly experience the unparalleled beauty of Guilin's landscape. Don't miss it when traveling to Guilin; it's definitely worth a visit.

Longji Rice Terraces

Finally, I witnessed the grandeur of the Longji Rice Terraces in person! The actual scenery is even more breathtaking than the pictures! We visited Jinkeng Dazhai, where the terraced fields unfold along the mountainside, stretching into the distance, creating a truly immersive mountain atmosphere. At the entrance to the scenic area, you must transfer to a sightseeing bus to enter the mountain. The mountain roads are winding, so those prone to motion sickness should prepare accordingly. For those with average stamina, I highly recommend the cable car; it's less strenuous and offers a stunning panoramic view of the entire terraced field. There are several viewing platforms on the mountain, with No. 2 Thousand-Layer Ladder and No. 1 Golden Buddha Peak each offering their own unique beauty. Take your time to explore and take photos; there's no need to rush. It's also suitable for families with elderly members and children. Choosing the route that combines the cable car with gentle hiking trails will prevent you from getting too tired. Please note that there's a significant temperature difference on the mountain, and it can be quite cool in the mornings and evenings, so wear comfortable, non-slip shoes. It's recommended to allow at least half a day to a full day for the entire visit, avoiding the midday sun. When visiting Guilin, be sure to set aside time for the Longji Rice Terraces. This breathtaking scenery, created by nature and the local people together, is well worth it!
