Guest User: This guesthouse in Hongcun Scenic Area is absolutely wonderful! It has a simple yet elegant courtyard with a strong scholarly ambiance. The owner is incredibly friendly and kind, offering luggage pick-up and drop-off services throughout our stay. They also thoughtfully arranged for us to dine at excellent nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner. Upon checking in, we immediately headed to Wanxing Tower near the guesthouse for stinky mandarin fish and rice with vegetables, which, unfortunately, were quite bland. However, the design of Nanhu Guanyuan itself is very refined and tasteful, and the breakfast spread offers a great variety, perfect for a heartwarming and satisfying start to the day. The guesthouse is exceptionally close to the Nanhu and Yuezao attractions, making it easy to take leisurely strolls in the morning or evening and soak in the beautiful, misty江南 (Jiangnan) scenery. My trip to Hongcun in Anhui was truly delightful, and staying at Nanhu Guanyuan made it even more enjoyable. Plus, the scenic area's parking lot charges a maximum of only twenty yuan for both day and night, which is incredibly good value.

The house is 300 years old and very rustic! It also has a pleasant woody scent! The owner proactively upgraded our room and even helped us plan our travel itinerary! Highly recommend!

2057796769: I really liked the layout of this room. The location is super close to Moon Lake, which was convenient for getting up early to snap some peaceful photos. I went at 6 AM, and even the noodle shops were open, though there weren't many people around. Inside the guesthouse, there's a study and a restaurant on the first floor, and a small balcony on the second. The bathroom in my room required going up a few steps, which humorously fit the saying about 'going up for a lucky pee' (a playful Chinese idiom). The small window in the bathroom offered a lovely view of the entire enclosed courtyard, which had a great vibe. This room felt like a 'boudoir,' and the bed inside was very comforting to sleep in. The whole courtyard is in a quiet area but still very close to the main attractions. Overall, a great experience.

smilysunsun: Tachuan's autumn was made even more beautiful by this guesthouse. I searched on Ctrip for a long time, worried about hygiene issues, but this guesthouse really paid attention to details and was very clean. The moment I opened the door, the automatic welcoming ceremony from 'Xiao Ai' (smart speaker) was very touching. It's right at the entrance of Hongcun and the price is excellent value for money. The proprietress is very kind, and the young man who checked me in, Manager Xiao Wang, was extremely helpful with excellent service. From picking me up at the station to helping me find a car for my travels, he saved me the anxiety and exhaustion of not having a car in Hongcun. The prices were also reasonable. Anyone worried about drivers getting upset in Hongcun can completely entrust their needs to him. At the village entrance, he even used a small electric cart to help with my luggage. There are Hello e-bikes nearby, so you can go to Lucun early in the morning to watch the sunrise. Thank you for providing such a 'utopia' after my busy work. The hygiene was indeed top-notch!

Guest User: This guesthouse is located in the heart of the scenic area, a century-old house that offers tranquility amidst the bustling surroundings. It provides quick access to core attractions like Yuetang Pond and Nanhu Lake. The owner is very thoughtful, evident in the room decor, furniture, and choice of toiletries – taste is revealed in every detail. They also provide emotional value to guests, with shuttle service from the scenic area parking lot, welcome fruits, and farewell gifts. The service is also well-balanced. I'd especially like to praise the breakfast and the garden. Although the breakfast is served à la carte with limited options, almost everything is delicious. The guesthouse has a large backyard garden. After a long day of sightseeing, returning and sitting on a rocking chair in the garden makes it feel as if the whole world stands still. The only minor drawback is the poor sound insulation, which might affect light sleepers.

Mengmengren: The room was clean and comfortable, and the host was very kind. They even took us to the bus station and sent us pictures of must-see attractions in Hongcun. Hongcun is quite small; we checked in in the afternoon, walked around in the evening, and explored nearby villages the next day. However, it's worth noting that the in-home foot massage was terrible. The two technicians who came were chatting loudly the whole time and didn't massage properly. They started with very little pressure, and when I asked them to apply a little more pressure, they deliberately hit my muscles hard. They probably only wanted to do one-time business, so they didn't seem to care.

The curtains are a bit sheer, so very light-sensitive guests might want to bring an eye mask. Hygiene: The room is clean, and the bedding is clean. There were a few small flying insects at night, so it's best to close the windows early. Environment: The location is truly excellent. It has its own small courtyard, and the window of this scenic room faces Yuetan Pond. Yuetan Pond is right outside, and everything is close by, perfect for early morning photo shoots, haha. Around Yuetan Pond, there are breakfast shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and cultural and creative bookstores, making it very convenient for exploring. The fish lantern parade also comes this way at night. Service: Check-in and check-out were very convenient. The owner is very enthusiastic, provided a travel guide, and contacted us before arrival. They can help with luggage into the village. Overall, very satisfied!

Guest User: This stay exceeded my expectations! The guesthouse is conveniently located not far from the Hongcun scenic area entrance, making getting around easy. I'm glad I didn't choose a hotel inside the scenic area or book a chain brand. The room decor was elegant and clean, and the service was excellent. Having a washer and dryer was a lifesaver for cleaning clothes with kids, and the environment was relatively quiet. Overall, it was a comfortable stay and my favorite accommodation of this trip. Highly recommend for families with children.

Mumutongtongzouzouzou: Had a fantastic stay! First off, the room was pretty soundproof, and the blackout curtains did their job perfectly, letting us sleep in until 8:30 AM. Plus, because of the rain, breakfast was thoughtfully extended until 11 AM, and they even offered a late-night congee service; you could get free congee at the dining hall after 9:30 PM, which was a real lifesaver on a rainy night. The front desk staff were all super attentive, friendly, and polite, and they even offered some helpful tips. The hotel is only a 10-minute walk from the West Gate of Hongcun Scenic Area, and you pass by lots of restaurants on the way, which is really convenient.

Spend the morning wandering through the ancient streets, enjoy authentic Anhui cuisine for lunch, visit Qishu Lake in the afternoon to see the dawn redwoods, and then head home. 🎒 Travel tips and advice · Tickets and transportation: Tickets cost about 40 yuan; booking online in advance is more cost-effective. The village is only 2 km from Hongcun. Driving is more convenient; navigate to "Tachuan Village" to find parking. A Fairytale Adventure on a Misty Mountain Path 🌫️
The phrase "Huangshan and Baiyue confront each other" is about Qiyun Mountain (anciently known as Baiyue), which is covered with the light of Huangshan. It is as famous as Huangshan and was personally named "the first mountain in the south of the Yangtze River" by Qianlong, but it is so low-key that it makes people feel distressed. ⛰️ Why is it seriously underestimated? 1. The "No. 1 Mountain in the South of the Yangtze River" stamped by Qianlong It has a high historical status and is known as "Huangshan and Baiyue are the best in the south of the Yangtze River". It is not only one of the four famous Taoist mountains, but also named "Qiyun" by Emperor Jiajing because it can see the sea of clouds 260 days a year. 2. Rare Danxia landform + cliff ancient village Unlike the granite of Huangshan Mountain, Qiyun Mountain is a red Danxia landscape with green water and Danxia cliffs, which has a unique visual impact. The most amazing is Yuehua Tian Street, an ancient Huizhou village built on a cliff, with white walls and black tiles looming in the clouds and mist, like a street market in the sky. 3. Few people are not tired, extremely friendly to children / lazy people Compared to the crowds in Huangshan, it is much quieter here. You don't have to grab a seat to take pictures. The altitude is only 585 meters, the ropeway is 8 minutes direct, the trail on the mountain is gentle, the elderly and children walk without pressure. 💡Practical Information (Simple Version) · How to get there: High-speed rail to "Huangshan North Station", taxi about 30-40 minutes directly; self-drive navigation "Qiyunshan Visitor Center". · How much to spend: Tickets about 60-68 yuan, ropeway round trip about 95 yuan. It is recommended to buy a package ticket for more cost-effectiveness. · What to play: Cableway up the mountain → Wangxian Tower → Zhenxian Cave (see Zhu Xi's "shou" character) → Yuehua Tian Street (cliff ancient village for lunch) → Taisu Palace → Yuxu Palace (find Tang Bohu's authentic work) → Fang Lazhai → Cableway down the mountain. · What to see: The small town of Qiyun down the mountain has ironworks and fireworks shows in the evening, usually free, don't miss it. If you are tired of the crowds of Huangshan and want to find a fairy mountain with culture, a sea of clouds, and still not tired, Qiyun Mountain is really worth it. Departing from Huangshan North Station, venture into Tachuan to chase the red tallow trees
Tachuan's autumn colors don't ask for your permission. The tallow trees start turning red from the mountaintop, burning downwards patch by patch. By the time the color reaches the ancient camphor tree at the village entrance, the entire valley looks like an oil painting that hasn't dried yet. White walls and dark tiles peek through the gaps in the red leaves, and the rice stubble remains on the ridges. When the morning mist rolls in, the whole village looks like it has been gently placed into a picture frame. Nine out of ten people who come to Tachuan are carrying cameras. It's connected to Huangshan and Hongcun, but the vibe is completely different—Huangshan is about grandeur, Hongcun is about its water systems, and Tachuan is about how each individual tree spreads its colors. The best viewing period is from late October to mid-November, with the red leaves at their most saturated in early November. The probability of morning mist is highest between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Tickets are CNY 40 on-site or CNY 35 if bought online in advance. Actually, you can also get great shots from the field ridges outside the village before 7:00 AM. Day 1: Arrive in the village in the afternoon and scout locations in the evening. After transferring from Huangshan North Station or Tunxi Airport (about a 1-hour ride) to the entrance of Tachuan village, don't rush to take photos after checking in. First, walk along the ancient camphor stream trail at the village entrance to see where the light is coming from and how red the tallow trees are. In the evening, go to the panoramic viewing platform at the top of the mountain. It overlooks the entire valley, where the red of the tallow trees, the yellow of the sweetgum trees, the gold of the rice fields, and the gray of the dark tiles layer together. The colors are most saturated half an hour before sunset. Day 2: Qishu Lake in the early morning, explore the village in the morning. Depart at 6:00 AM for Qishu Lake, which is only a 10-minute drive from Tachuan and is free to enter. In the early morning, the lake surface is shrouded in thin mist, the dawn redwoods on the shore are turning red, and the lake reflects the mountains and the village. There are almost no tourists, making it the most worthwhile "bonus" after photographing Tachuan. Return to Tachuan in the morning; the ancient alleys, bamboo baskets for drying autumn harvests, and stone paths in the village are all great for photos. No need to deliberately look for spots—you'll find them as you walk around. 🚗 How to get there? It takes about 1 hour to transfer from Huangshan North Station or Tunxi Airport to the entrance of Tachuan village. A one-way chartered car costs about CNY 150, and carpooling with others costs about CNY 40 per person. Tachuan, Hongcun, and Qishu Lake are very close to each other. You can walk within the village, and for travel between attractions, you can take a tricycle for CNY 10/ride or charter a car for the whole day for CNY 160. 🎫 Ticket information Tickets for the Tachuan Scenic Area are CNY 40/person on-site, or CNY 35/person if purchased online in advance. Opening hours are 7:30 AM–5:30 PM. Qishu Lake is free. For Hongcun joint tickets, please refer to the on-site notice. 🏠 Accommodation reference Tachuan Guiyun Shanfang is located halfway up the mountain, with floor-to-ceiling windows on the terrace facing the entire expanse of red leaves. A standard room is about CNY 320/night, including breakfast for two, and the owner provides free photography route tips. Tachuan Wushe Resort Hotel is at the entrance of the scenic area, featuring 180° panoramic glass, about CNY 290/night, and offers free shuttle service to Hongcun. Traditional house homestays in the village are CNY 280–420/night; be sure to book in advance during peak season. 🍜 What to eat "Tachuan Renjia" farmhouse restaurant at the village entrance costs about CNY 45 per person. Their signature dishes, which locals often eat, include stewed free-range chicken with rock ear, dried bamboo shoots with cured meat, and pan-fried hairy tofu. If you go in mid-October, they are only 30% red, so don't be fooled by the "peak autumn colors" hype and go too early. The probability of morning mist is highest between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM. If you want to photograph the morning mist, you must stay in the village the night before. Go on weekdays to avoid the crowds. The value for money is absolutely amazing!! It rained during the Dragon Boat Festival, and Xiuli was the only place in Huizhou that kept up with the fish lantern displays – the variety was incredible!! I had so much fun! I wrote a thousand-word post on Xiaohongshu to rave about it. Although I was initially a little unhappy that Xiuli wasn't included in the annual pass, the ten yuan was totally worth it. You absolutely must come to Xiuli to see the fish lanterns, fireworks, and iron flower displays!

The observation deck behind the village overlooks the entire Lu Village. The rapeseed flowers are particularly beautiful during the season, and if you go early in the morning, you can see the morning mist, which is even more dreamy.

Tachuan truly lives up to its reputation as a representative of autumn scenery in southern Anhui. It's not far from Hongcun, just a 10-minute electric scooter ride away, making it very convenient. The white-walled, black-tiled Hui-style houses are scattered among the mountains, surrounded by terraced fields. As autumn arrives, the leaves gradually change color, a tapestry of red, yellow, and green, resembling an oil painting. Strolling along the mountain trails, the scenery changes with every step, making for stunning photos. Compared to Hongcun, Tachuan is much quieter and less noisy. It's recommended to visit on a sunny afternoon for the soft light and atmosphere. This trip allows you to experience the authentic charm of a traditional mountain village.
