About Los Angeles

Los Angeles County is the most populous county in the United States, which contributes to its strange contrast to ritz and glamour side by side with poverty and crime. But LA is more than just a moshed pit of economic statuses. Botoxe movie stars and make-it-big dreamers share space with laid-back surfers along the coast, working-class Angelenos and a vibrant immigrant community. The coastal communities, including Santa Monica and Venice Beach radiate an easygoing surfer vibe, with travelers seeking out the great beaches and the eclectic Venice Boardwalk, trendy restaurants and boutiques along Venice's Abbott-Kinney neighborhood, or the carousel at the Santa Monica Pier. Inland, culture seekers flock to Hollywood's club scene, check out music along the Sunset Strip, and seek the hipster indie clubs in Silverlake. If you can hack your way of the traffic, you'll reach the populous San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys, but also the serenely beautiful Angeles and Los Padres national forests and Mojave Desert. Art and pop culture are king here: the unique Hollywood Bowl outdoor concert venue, the art mecca of the Getty Center and Getty Villa in Malibu and the live music venues that dot the county.

Beach
Santa Monica Beach is a popular seaside holiday retreat in Los Angeles. Boasting turquoise water and pristine sand beaches, this is a place teeming with waterfront restaurants, bars and shops, making it a site bustling with action both day and night. With magnificent seascape much adored by Hollywood film directors, this is where many movies and TV shows have been filmed. Santa Monica Beach sits at the end of Route 66, a road of great historic value that traverses across the US from east to west. As a cultural symbol, the signpost of Route 66 is a photo takers’ mecca.

There is so much to learn at The Geffen Contemporary at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), for both teens as well as adults. While students can expand their creative thinking skills, adults can expand their expertise on contemporary art through MOCA's diverse educational program offerings. The Museum is located adjacent to the Omni Hotel California and the Walt Disney Theatre and features the works of Joan Miro, Jackson Pollack to name a few contemporary masters. Visitors are advised to book in advance as the shows are usually sold out particularly during weekends. Although there are many museums, The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA is great for the mind and soul.
