One of the city’s better temples, Ho Phra Keo is the only part of the old royal palace that has survived. It's named after the Emerald Buddha that used to be housed here, but this is no longer present as it was relocated to Bangkok. However, the temple is still worth a visit and has several nice Buddhist artefacts. For its history alone, it's definitely worth popping in to.

Hor Phra Kaew (Lao: Phra Kaew's Hall) used to be a temple in Vientiane, Laos, located on the side of Settthirat Road, southwest of Sisaket Temple, built in the year B.E. 2108 to enshrine Phra Buddha Maha Mani Rattana Patimakorn (Emerald Buddha), but rebuilt many times. Now inside is a religious art museum and a small shop[1]

This temple is very long and looks magnificent. It is also a Buddhist museum and exhibition hall. Tickets 30,000 kip, close to the French Embassy in Laos.
