Wuhou Temple (Han Zhaolie Temple) is located in Wuhou District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. It is the only monarch-minister temple in China. It consists of Liu Bei, Zhuge Liang, Shu Han monarch-minister temple and Huiling. It enjoys the reputation of "Three Kingdoms Holy Land". In 234, Zhuge Liang died of illness in Wuzhangyuan (about 20 kilometers south of Qishan County Town, Baoji City, Shaanxi Province) on the front line of the Northern Expedition. At the age of 54, Zhuge Liang was the Prime Minister of Shu Han Dynasty. He was named "Hou of Wuxiang" before his death and "Hou of Zhongwu" after Liu Chan, the empress of Shu Han Dynasty. Therefore, his ancestral temple was honored as "Hou Temple of Wu" in history. Around the period of the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Wuhou Temple in Chengdu merged with Huiling Temple and Zhaolie Temple in Han Dynasty. Zhuge Liang is admired by later generations because he has noble ideas and style of work, and does not use his power for personal gain.
