Today was a day healed by pandas! They are just too cute! Before coming to the base, I read a lot of travel guides, fearing that I wouldn't understand how to navigate the place, but thankfully the preparation paid off! There was almost no queuing throughout the whole journey, and I saw over 20 giant pandas! I was also lucky enough to see Grandpa Tan, Hua Hua, and Ye from a distance without queuing—no more talking, let's get straight to the good stuff! Route: I did a lot of research on travel guides, and in the end, I chose to enter from the west gate because we didn't plan to rush to see Hua Hua; those who do should enter from the south gate. We arrived at the west gate at 7:00, and the park opens at 7:30. After entering the west gate, we didn't stay in the west area but took the sightseeing bus directly to Villa No. 1. We were the first ones there, and the experience was fantastic. Upon entering, we saw Hot Dry Noodles and Egg Sponge Cake, which were incredibly cute! Mornings are when the giant pandas are most active, and if you go when it's hot, you might not see many pandas. The pandas are relatively concentrated near the South Gate. After passing the Panda Tower, there are no more pandas to see. Bring some food and drinks, as there are not many options inside, and you can spend 1-3 hours there. Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (bring ID for entry) The base is located in the northern suburbs of Chengdu, and we chose to take the subway to Panda Avenue Station on Line 3. Exit from Exit D, walk 10 meters, and take the scenic area shuttle bus (2 yuan/person) to the South Gate. It is said online that you can take the panda special line from many places in the city, such as Kuanzhai Alley and Chunxi Road Taikoo Li, with a ticket price of 20 yuan. It feels like the journey is long, and by the time the bus arrives, the pandas may be asleep. The subway is economical, and the timing is also accurate. When coming out of the Panda Base, you can take this bus from the North Gate to Kuixinglou Street for lunch. Tickets are purchased through Ctrip for 55 yuan. Then bring your ID, and enter by scanning the ID/QR code. (You can also search 'Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base' for online reservations, and then directly scan your ID upon arrival.) 'Ice jelly' is 10 yuan per serving, refreshing. If you have more time in the afternoon, walk directly from Kuixinglou Street to Kuanzhai Alley, and then go to People's Park. (These 3 places are very close, within walking distance) Kuanzhai Alley, since you're here, there is covered-bowl tea available for 28 yuan per person, it's best to enter just before the show starts, otherwise, you'll have to wait a long time. There are 3-4 such shops in Kuanzhai Alley. Any one is the same, I heard that the covered-bowl tea in People's Park is also good~~ In the evening, go to Chengdu's busiest commercial street—Chunxi Road, Taikoo Li, IFS. These three are in one area, just walk. My local classmate recommended the Jianshe Alley snack street, which is delicious and cost-effective, recommended to try Chengdu cuisine. Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum (9:00 AM—6:00 PM, stop selling tickets at 5:00 PM) 50 yuan/person, audio guide rental 25 yuan, 200 yuan deposit. Wuhou Shrine ticket 50 yuan/person. After queuing, if there is still energy and time (which is hard to have, usually a choice has to be made), then visit the surrounding area of the West Garden, which is relatively new; entering from the West Gate to the New Garden, if you are not exclusively devoted to Huahua and treat all pandas equally, it is recommended to mainly visit the New Garden, with newer facilities, better environment, and more pandas. Many people recommend visiting the Sun Delivery Room and Moon Delivery Room to see panda cubs, but in most cases, you can only see middle-aged panda mothers who are mostly lazily sleeping. After seeing enough of the giant pandas, the red pandas become very cute, and the Red Panda Pavilion does not require queuing. The more lively red pandas also deserve our affection. Along the way, many knowledge signs are also very worthwhile for children to flip through and read, such as remembering the Grey-breasted Partridge whose call is 'landlady', one of the prototypes of the Angry Birds, the Northern Cardinal, and many interesting animal science facts.
