What is the charm of traveling through Yunnan by train?
Longing for a small-town lifestyle, this time I chose the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, embarking on a new journey by train🚂, away from the crowds, to the charming small towns of southeastern Yunnan. I started a unique and colorful journey of 4 days and 3 nights.
Day1 Kunming: Arriving directly in Kunming, I experienced the leisurely life of the locals at 📍Cuihu Park in the spring city. Then I went to 📍the Military Academy to watch the hourly guard-changing ceremony and to learn about half of Kunming's modern history, reminiscing about the once glorious years. There's also the 📍Lu Han Mansion, which witnessed the Yunnan Uprising, a Gothic-style bright yellow French building, great for taking photos outside and revisiting history inside.
Day2 Jianshui: This is a treasure of a small town, far from the hustle and bustle, with a long history and culture, still retaining more than 50 ancient buildings.
📍Ancient Town: The ancient town, full of life, is worth visiting for its Chaoyang Tower, Confucian Temple, and Zhu Family Garden.
📍Narrow Gauge Train: A tourist train, with vintage carriages, artistic retro stations, and beautiful scenery of countryside and ancient buildings along the way; it's recommended to book a seat early, find a window spot for photos, and the fruits at the station are also very cheap. It passes through Shuanglong Bridge Station - Xianghui Bridge Station - Tuanshan Station.
📍Purple Pottery Street: A bustling night market, very popular at night, where the small town's atmosphere is evident, and there are many pottery galleries along the street, with a variety of colorful ceramics to dazzle the eyes.
Food: Jianshui roasted tofu, barbecue, steam pot feast.
Day3 Mengzi: My impression of Mengzi is that it's a city with low prices, off the beaten path, rich history, a border town, and a small city with ethnic characteristics. It is the junction of the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway and the Gejiu Stone Railway, where multiple cultures blend, and the architectural features are also unique, making it super suitable for sightseeing and photography.
📍Bisezhai: An important stop on the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway, with French architectural style, one of China's oldest train stations, and also home to Yunnan's first coffee shop and post office. Here you can find the same camera positions as in the movie 'Youth', and it really achieves a model of operation and sightseeing integration.
📍Pioneer Bookstore is located next to Nanhu and the former site of the Southwest Associated University, gathering representative works of the teachers and students of the university and local handicrafts of Mengzi;
The Dashuzhai Night Market and Nanhu Night Tour in Mengzi are also must-visit places for visitors.
🌟Mengzi is the birthplace of Crossing-the-Bridge Noodles.
Day4 Mile: This city, sharing its name with Buddha, inevitably has its own unique legends. Now Mile can be directly reached by high-speed rail, making travel convenient.
📍Dongfengyun Art Town: Red brick kilns of various sizes, blending wine culture and Yi ethnic fire culture, full of exotic charm. The design here is really for photography, any angle is a great shot, and if you come after May, there's also a large field of lavender.
📍Taiping Lake Park: A park created through ecological restoration on a karstified land. Nestled between mountains and waters, with dense forests and clear waters, it is a colorful land all year round.
Traveling through Yunnan by train, connecting several characteristic small towns with the simplest mode of transportation, to experience different small-town lives.
Luhan Mansion, located on the east bank of Cuihu Lake in the center of Kunming, is an exquisite garden bungalow, very well protected, basically maintaining the original style. Lu Han, with Longyun the same root and source, the last legendary "Yunnan king", once pro-jun Taierzhuang won the first war, but also resolutely peaceful uprising, in the mansion design, Zhixu Shen drunk and other people, to protect Kunming from the fire, Kunming all the people of the meritorious. However, the road at the door is very narrow and there is no public toilet inside. It is recommended not to drive by yourself.
The 100-year-old French Luhan Mansion has a red tile and yellow wall in appearance and elegant and luxurious interior. It has been opened as the Yunnan Uprising Hall... Located by the Cuihu Lake, it is longing for the old site of the Army Lecture Hall across the Cuihu Lake. It is a building of the Republic of China. It is free to visit. There are not many. The building is very beautiful. The pictures and texts are luxuriant. Introduced Lu Han's life and Yunnan liberation history, it is still worth seeing...
Kunming's red resources are too rich. This circle by the Cuihu Lake is also a proper walk. Today's small western-style building is located directly opposite the east gate of Cuihu Park, No. 4 Cuihu South Road. It is quite good. No wonder this is the former Yunnan President's mansion. The Luhan Mansion was built in the 1930s. It is a well-preserved masonry French building in Kunming. The whole building is octagonal. It covers an area of 2500 square meters. The building area is 1280 square meters. Of course, in addition to seeing the building itself, it is more important that there has been an important event here. Witnessed the peaceful uprising in Kunming on December 9, 1949, Lu Han detained the Kuomintang Eighth Army, the 26th Army, the Chief of the Yunnan Station, and others in this mansion to clear the obstacles to the peaceful uprising in Yunnan. TIPS is now comfortable and comfortable here. It must be a thousand years ago. Send it. The whole venue is well protected. The flow control is proper. The young lady who explained is also very serious. The overall experience is quite good.
Luhan Mansion is now the Yunnan Uprising Memorial Hall. Open for free. Due to the epidemic, the health code and itinerary information are required at the door. The two-story small western-style building can see that Luhan's life is very simple. You can also learn about the general situation of Yunnan Uprising.
As a long-standing city, Kunming has many old buildings, in the long river of years, through the vicissitudes, but still exudes the historical heritage and glory, the Luhan Mansion on the edge of the Cuihu Lake is such a one. Luhan Mansion is divided into husband and new mansion, husband is a two-story building, the new mansion has 2 floors, and there are also attached rooms. Now, the old house of the famous anti-Japanese patriotic general and the leader of the Yunnan Uprising Lu Han Mansion has set up the "Yunnan Uprising Memorial Hall" and is officially open to the society. Free visit, closed on Monday. The mansion reproduces Lu Han's life and history of Yunnan Uprising, becoming another historical and cultural landmark in Kunming. The Lu Han mansion, hidden in the green trees, is the best preserved and largest French building in Kunming. Entering the mansion, it is like entering the TV drama scene, the decoration is luxurious and beautifully designed, each room has windows, each window shows a different beauty. Lu Han Mansion uses the form of a combination of scene restoration, physical data display and exhibition board display to show Lu Han's life and the thrilling experience of Yunnan Uprising. The significance of the Luhan Mansion is not only the private house of former Yunnan Provincial Chairman Lu Han, but also the witness of Lu Han planning the Yunnan Uprising in 1949. Today, the Lu Han Mansion has a new name, "Yunnan Uprising Memorial Hall". Lu Han Mansion is now a new place to punch in, hurry up to pick a sunny day, take a group of photos of the Republic of China.
