What is the charm of traveling through Yunnan by train?Longing for a small-town lifestyle, this time I chose the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, embarking on a new journey by train🚂, away from the crowds, to the charming small towns of southeastern Yunnan. I started a unique and colorful journey of 4 days and 3 nights. Day1 Kunming: Arriving directly in Kunming, I experienced the leisurely life of the locals at 📍Cuihu Park in the spring city. Then I went to 📍the Military Academy to watch the hourly guard-changing ceremony and to learn about half of Kunming's modern history, reminiscing about the once glorious years. There's also the 📍Lu Han Mansion, which witnessed the Yunnan Uprising, a Gothic-style bright yellow French building, great for taking photos outside and revisiting history inside. Day2 Jianshui: This is a treasure of a small town, far from the hustle and bustle, with a long history and culture, still retaining more than 50 ancient buildings. 📍Ancient Town: The ancient town, full of life, is worth visiting for its Chaoyang Tower, Confucian Temple, and Zhu Family Garden. 📍Narrow Gauge Train: A tourist train, with vintage carriages, artistic retro stations, and beautiful scenery of countryside and ancient buildings along the way; it's recommended to book a seat early, find a window spot for photos, and the fruits at the station are also very cheap. It passes through Shuanglong Bridge Station - Xianghui Bridge Station - Tuanshan Station. 📍Purple Pottery Street: A bustling night market, very popular at night, where the small town's atmosphere is evident, and there are many pottery galleries along the street, with a variety of colorful ceramics to dazzle the eyes. Food: Jianshui roasted tofu, barbecue, steam pot feast. Day3 Mengzi: My impression of Mengzi is that it's a city with low prices, off the beaten path, rich history, a border town, and a small city with ethnic characteristics. It is the junction of the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway and the Gejiu Stone Railway, where multiple cultures blend, and the architectural features are also unique, making it super suitable for sightseeing and photography. 📍Bisezhai: An important stop on the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway, with French architectural style, one of China's oldest train stations, and also home to Yunnan's first coffee shop and post office. Here you can find the same camera positions as in the movie 'Youth', and it really achieves a model of operation and sightseeing integration. 📍Pioneer Bookstore is located next to Nanhu and the former site of the Southwest Associated University, gathering representative works of the teachers and students of the university and local handicrafts of Mengzi; The Dashuzhai Night Market and Nanhu Night Tour in Mengzi are also must-visit places for visitors. 🌟Mengzi is the birthplace of Crossing-the-Bridge Noodles. Kunming Surroundings | The French-style Luhan MansionVisited the attractions around the park and casually racked up twenty thousand steps. The first stop is the Lu's Mansion, located at the south gate of Cuihu (Green Lake). Also known as the Yunnan Uprising Memorial, it was the private residence and office of Lu Han, the governor of Yunnan Province during the Republic of China era, and is the largest and best-preserved French-style building in Kunming🏡 The mansion consists of the new and old mansions, with the old mansion built in the 1930s. During the Spring Festival, only the living room and the reception room on the first floor of the old mansion are open for tourists to visit. By combining scene restoration, physical materials, and exhibition panels, the exhibition presents the life of Lu Han and the process of the Yunnan Uprising. As soon as you enter the mansion, it instantly takes you back to the Republic of China era. The interior decoration is exquisite, luxurious, and meticulously crafted. The reception room features a fireplace and stained glass windows, and the delicate furniture, cabinets, and window frames are all made of imported teak. The overall maintenance is very good, and it doesn't look like it was decorated ninety years ago at all. The French Charm of Kunming - Lu Han MansionProceeding from No. 65 Cuihu South Road, and moving forward, you arrive at No. 4 Cuihu South Road, where a luxurious mansion suddenly comes into view. Compared to the No. 65 courtyard, it seems quite modest. This is the largest and best-preserved French-style architectural courtyard in Kunming - the Lu Han Mansion. The Lu Han Mansion was the private garden-style residence of Lu Han, the chairman of Yunnan Province during the Republic of China period. It was completed in 1933, covering a total area of 5,600 square meters, with a building area of 1,500 square meters. The main building is a brick and stone French-style structure with an octagonal floor plan. The roof is a steep slope Ying Shan flat tile, featuring a distinct Gothic style. Stone pillars, door frames, window frames, and other stone components are often decorated with relief sculptures. The interior is equipped with fireplaces, and both the primary and secondary bedrooms, as well as the dining room, have floor-to-ceiling doors and windows that open onto balconies. Lu Han MansionLu Han Mansion is located at No. 4 Cuihu South Road, Wuhua District, Kunming City, right across from the east gate of Cuihu Park, covering an area of 6,205 square meters. It was the private residence and office of Mr. Lu Han, the last chairman of Yunnan Province during the Republic of China era and a renowned patriotic general. The mansion was built in the 1930s and is the best-preserved and largest brick-and-stone structure French-style building in the Kunming area today. The entire building is octagonal, two-storied, with brick walls and wooden trusses, and partly reinforced concrete structures; its roof is a steep slope Ying Shan flat tile, with all sides being equilateral triangles, featuring a distinct Gothic style. The building has sixteen facades in total, with three-sided bay windows on the east and west sides; red tiles and yellow walls, complemented by grey border lines, are very elegant. Stone columns, door frames, window frames, and other stone components are often decorated with bas-reliefs, and the interior is equipped with fireplaces. All interior decorations are made of imported teak wood, with primary and secondary bedrooms and dining rooms all having floor-to-ceiling doors and windows that open onto balconies. The decoration is very luxurious and exquisite.
