There was a stone pillar written as "settlement".

    Original Text

We entered from the 2 gate at the top of Glover Garden. At first, after seeing the former Mitsubishi No. 2 dock house nearby, I found several stone pillars next to it with the words "settlement". When Nagasaki opened the country, stone markers that were on the border between the settlements of foreigners and the areas where Japanese people lived were collected here. There are various things related to the opening of Nagasaki.

the area where foreigners and Japanese live was separated.

    Original Text

We entered the Glover Garden from the gate 2. Next to the former Mitsubishi No. 2 dock house near the gate, there was a boundary pillar of the settlement era here. At the time of the settlement from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period, it seems that the area where foreigners and Japanese people lived was divided. Therefore, there are many old Western-style buildings around Higashiyamate. It seems that stone markers were built on the boundary, and those stone markers are the boundary pillars here.

There are various monuments and historic buildings in Glover Garden, which is one of them. In front of the former Mitsubishi 2nd Dock, an old, boundary stone pillar was placed next to the azalea planting. At that time, it seems that a modern Western-style house was built in a hill settlement. I wondered how the Japanese felt and looked at the houses and buildings at the end of this stone pillar. The stone pillars are a souvenir of history.

It's a monument that doesn't make much sense.

Glover Garden has spectacular buildings, gardens and scenery, but sometimes strange, like scraps. This stone pillar is one of them for me. It shows the section of the former foreign settlement. I see, there were such things in various parts of the city.

    Original Text

When I went up Glover Garden, there was a stone pillar in front of the building of the former Mitsubishi 2nd Dockhouse. It seemed to indicate the section of the former foreign settlement. Former 々, it was not in this place, but it was written on the explanation board that the stone pillars that were no longer used were collected.
