We had a very good overall experience at this onsen hotel. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we enjoyed our stay very much.
We especially appreciated having an English-speaking staff member available — it made communication much easier and helped us feel more comfortable during our visit.
Very nice Japanese style room overlooking the river and the tree filled riverbank hill. It was very private. Breakfast and dinner was served at the table and was excellent. Much variety of fish, chicken, pork, tofu, and vegetables. The overall atmosphere was very elegant and relaxed. The ryokan is located right on one of the bus stops for easy access from the train station. It is a short 10 minute walk to the main area of town. There are several onsen pools. Some rotate between men and women at different hours. Very clean with good amenities. Overall a very memorable stay.
The room was spacious and clean. It was the first time I'd ever stayed in such a large room in Japan! The breakfast and dinner selection was varied and authentically delicious; the indoor and outdoor hot spring environment was absolutely first-class – a true resort paradise.
A special thank you to the lovely Chinese receptionist, Ms. Xu. The night before, we had a flat tire and called 110 (police) to ask the police to help us contact a tow truck. Since there were no spare tires in Kusatsu, we had to go to a rural repair shop in Karuizawa to change the tire and then pick up the repaired car ourselves. Ms. Xu not only acted as our translator but also meticulously explained how to take the bus, how to take a taxi to the repair shop, the cost-effectiveness of different transportation options, and things to be aware of. She even wrote everything down clearly so we wouldn't forget. For two retired workers like us who don't speak Japanese and were driving ourselves, it was like a godsend – a huge help! Thank you so much, Ms. Xu, and best wishes for all your well-being; thank you to the hotel, and best wishes for its continued success!
A relax and nice view in Kusatsu. The hotel is located a bit far from bus terminal. However, there is a free shuttle bus service which connected with bus service.
I strongly encourage the private onsen package where we can taste three different type of onsen in the hotel.
My platinum ring changed colour, may be due to the acidity of onsen water😂.
The dinner and breakfast inspired and it is good for family trip with a number of accessible service for elderly with physically limitations.
The staff is very nice and have a good arrangement of the room. The room is clean and spacious. And we can enjoy the onsen with a good view of whole Maehashi city. Can enjoy the manga after onsen. The food of restaurant is also delicious.
Getting to the central area was a bit difficult as you had to go up and down hills, but it was nice that it wasn't too far from the bus terminal.
The impression I got was that the accommodation was minimalist in terms of both the room and the service. Everything you need was there, so I thought it would be sufficient for a sightseeing stay.
We stayed here during a two-day ski trip. I found this inn very appealing, especially since I had never seen it on social media. There are only a few rooms, so it was quiet and very comfortable. We were worried about which one to choose, but we stayed at ”Kiri,” which has an open-air bath in the room, and it was better than we expected, so we took a bath five times (lol). We'll definitely come back here again! We've been saying that ever since we got back. However, we didn't get a plan that included dinner, so we were hoping to eat at a nearby restaurant, but all the restaurants closed early, so we were left without food, which was a bit of a downside^^; Next time we stay, we'll make sure to make a reservation for meals!! The inn itself was really nice and the best. Thank you for your hospitality.
Rooms were small and tight for a couple. Location was great with the rail station just next door. Eateries were easy to find and there is a mall. Super convenient if you need anything. Overall we had a great stay
Highly recommend staying for two consecutive nights; the outdoor onsen in the snow was amazing! We stayed in a nine-person room, split into two separate spaces, and the rooms were very spacious. The 'one night, two meals' package for two days offered delicious and varied meals. On our last night, we added the all-you-can-drink option for less than 500 NTD per person, which was incredibly good value. Plus, there were free noodles available until 10:30 PM!
Well, the location is good, close to the station. There is a washing machine in the hotel, so it is good for people who are on a long business trip. Some people may feel that the convenience store is a little far away, but it is still less than 10 minutes away, so I think it is convenient.

My stay at Kamenoi Hotel Kusatsu was excellent. The onsen was very clean and quite spacious, making it a relaxing experience. The hotel also has a convenient shortcut that leads directly to the Yubatake pedestrian area, which is a big plus. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style with a wide variety of dishes — plenty of options and all very enjoyable. The service was great, and the room was comfortable to sleep in. The only downside is that there were a bit too few power outlets in the room, but it wasn’t a major problem. Overall, a fantastic stay and highly recommended for anyone visiting Kusatsu.
Omori has a rich history as a Ryokan. The interior is homely and vintage! Like it’s frozen in time in the 1980s. The lounge has a panoramic view of Mount Akagi and several other mountain ranges. you can sip sake or wine from paid dispensers while you find your zen. The Level 8 outdoor bath is awesome and spacious. Views are awesome and the air is refreshing. Omori is right next to the Ikaho bus station as well as the Ikaho Ropeway. Just a 5mins walk to the stone steps as well. Even though the nearest Kombini (Famimart) is a 15 minute walk away, they have their own minimart. Breakfast was well crafted with hand-picked local Gunma produce. Awesome!!!
We had a wonderful stay at Urakusatsu Tou, a brand-new hotel that truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly escorted by the staff. Although parking was allocated at a private outdoor parking area, the hotel thoughtfully provided an escort service, making the process very smooth and comfortable. The room was spacious and beautifully designed. Communication was easy as the receptionist spoke fluent English. The hotel also provided pajamas and daily clothing, which was a lovely and convenient touch. The onsen experience was outstanding—definitely one of the best we’ve ever had. You can immediately feel your skin becoming smooth after soaking, which made each visit incredibly relaxing. We stayed for three nights with both breakfast and dinner included. Meals were served à la carte, and the menu changed daily, surprising us every time. The food was delicious and very filling—we were completely satisfied after every meal. That said, there are a few areas we hope the hotel could improve: • During winter, the room felt quite cold as the air-conditioning heater did not function properly and was unable to warm up the room. • Breakfast hours could be extended a little later for guests who prefer a more relaxed morning. • Providing a choice of pillows would further improve sleeping comfort. • The blue indicator light on the room’s control panel remains very bright even when all lights are turned off, which can be a bit distracting at night. Overall, this hotel offers excellent service, comfort, and an unforgettable onsen and dining experience. Highly recommended, and we believe it will be even better with these small improvements.
If you want to experience authentic Japanese tatami-style accommodation and stroll around in traditional yukata, this is a great choice. The hotel is conveniently located near all the hot springs, and accommodations here include a rich dinner and breakfast. It’s highly recommended for families or couples traveling together. I highly recommend it!

Located about a couple minutes walk from the Kusatsu Bus Terminal, Nakamuraya Ryokan was overall a pleasant stay. The Ryokan, located at the central part of Kusatsu Onsen town, was close to all types of amenities the town had to offer, and there were more than enough restaurants and stores to explore at our whim. Overall, the lodging experience felt pleasant, with multiple cats roaming about the property and with private onsens that guests could use during their stay. If you are looking for a more traditional lodging experience, I would highly recommend staying at a Ryokan such as Nakamuraya Ryokan. If you are looking for a more modern “hotel” experience, staying at a Ryokan like this one maybe either a pleasant surprise or a relatively alien experience.
The flight was delayed and we didn't arrive at the hotel until 9pm. The staff carefully arranged rice balls, fruits and desserts. The room was very clean. The breakfast and dinner the next day were very rich. I will arrange to bring my family to play again.
