It's what you'd call a love hotel. The room was spacious, the TV was large, and the toilet had a washlet. Basic breakfast items (like cornflakes and popcorn) were available on the first floor. I got coffee but didn't try the food, so I can't comment on its taste. While official check-in was at 7 PM, they kindly let me check in from 4 PM.

Huge thanks to the owner for their incredibly warm hospitality. We arrived on a red-eye flight and only needed to catch up on sleep from 6 AM to 1 PM. As there were hardly any other guests at 6 AM, the owner personally helped us check in early. My child and I both had a wonderful sleep, and I'm so grateful to the owner. Since I don't often stay in motels, I wasn't aware that all the room's electronics were controlled by a single remote and had to look it up online to figure it out.

Cheongju SUM Hotel is spotlessly clean and very well-equipped. Each room features a PC and a TV with Netflix access, and complimentary drinks and light snacks are available on the first floor. Its location is also very convenient for tourists, being close to the bustling downtown and local market. While its exterior and amenities give off a motel vibe, the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. It's also very reasonably priced, offering a comfortable and pleasant stay. For those who don't mind a motel-style ambiance, it's a highly recommended and cost-effective accommodation option.

The hotel is tucked away in an alley just off the city center's pedestrian street. The rooms are great, the service is excellent, and it offers fantastic value for money. My only minor comment is that the room had many mirrors, which might be a little unnerving for the superstitious.

Given the age of the building, there were stains on the wallpaper, torn indoor slippers, and a long strand of hair on the pillow, so I docked one star for cleanliness. However, for a solo traveler simply needing a place to sleep, I felt it was more than sufficient. It seemed to be a popular motel, and while I initially found it a bit awkward to frequently encounter couples at the front desk, I quickly got used to it. My room was on the 6th floor; the screen was dirty, but I could see the entrance to Central Park. It was very quiet with the window closed. The shower was cleverly designed so the toilet wouldn't get wet, and the toilet had a bidet function. They cleaned the room daily, replacing two bottles of water and changing the towels. Both Song'an Road and Yucai Market were nearby, and the location was convenient for accessing various bus stops. While check-in is officially at 7 PM, when I went to drop off my suitcase, they kindly informed me I could check in by 4 PM, and I ended up checking in at 5 PM. Check-out is at 1 PM, which meant I could explore the neighborhood, shop, and have some tea on my last day. The service from the female staff at the front desk was excellent. Thank you. If you take the narrow alleyway marked by the cat signboard in the photo, you can enter the motel through its back entrance.

The room was quite spacious and clean. However, we occasionally smelled smoke from other rooms in the bathroom. The location was also very convenient!

The room had many mirrors, was a bit dated, and had a faint odor. However, considering the price, it was perfectly acceptable. The lady at the front desk was very kind; you can ask her directly to store your luggage, though she might not speak English.

The bed was super comfortable, and it came with a bidet toilet. The lighting and air conditioning were conveniently controlled by remote. Housekeeping provided daily cleaning and fresh towels, and luggage storage was also available. My only minor complaint is that the AC couldn't be set higher than 25°C, which might be an issue for those who prefer a warmer room when sleeping.

For my first trip to Cheongju, I chose this place, and it was generally good, offering great value for money. I was forewarned, so it didn't bother me, but it's what's known as a 'love hotel', and the amenity kit even included contraception (lol). The woman at the front desk was present for my entire 3-day stay – I actually wondered if she lived there! She doesn't speak Japanese, but she's incredibly friendly and good-natured. Complimentary water is available on the first floor, and light breakfast snacks are provided in the morning if you're hungry. There's even a popcorn machine from which you can freely help yourself. This place will likely be one of my go-to options for future visits to Cheongju.

Although it's close to the bustling downtown area and market, it's tucked away on a side street, making the surroundings quiet. The bathroom doors are partially transparent, and from the outside, it definitely looks like a love hotel. However, it's incredibly clean; they even tidy it up spotlessly every day during multi-night stays. With a coffee machine in the lobby, bidet toilets, two desktop computers, and a large-screen TV with Netflix, it offers every imaginable convenience. I would definitely stay here again if I have the opportunity to visit Cheongju!

My favorite aspect was definitely the location. You can step right out and find yourself in a bustling market and the vibrant Chengan Street area, perfect for exploring. The room itself was spacious, featuring a huge bathtub, a generous array of toiletries, and a massive TV. While there were two computers, their internet speed was painfully slow (though I mostly used my phone, so it wasn't a major issue). A nice touch was the complimentary bottled water available from the chilled fridge at the front desk. If I had to point out a flaw, it would be the air conditioning. With outside temperatures hitting 30°C, the AC was fixed at 27°C, and the vents provided very weak, unadjustable airflow. The room ended up being incredibly stuffy and hot, leaving me drenched in sweat all night. However, I'm very thankful to the owner for allowing us to store our luggage after check-out, which made it much more convenient to explore the town.

While a little dated, it was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Its location right on the pedestrian street made shopping incredibly convenient.
