"The staff were incredibly accommodating. I had a free early check in and a late check out (as the hotel wasn't too busy for this option). The hotel room was honestly impeccable. Brilliant amenities and space without compromising on quality. Bed was a 10/10 and the option to cook in the room was an instant winner for late night snacks after work. There are available snacks downstairs throughout the night, and the breakfast is free. Attached is an image from a good local bar also (Cafe Nord) - CASH ONLY. Brilliant atmosphere and not too far from the hotel."

"I stayed here for one night in mid-July. The hotel looks brand new. The room was small, but extremely clean and well-maintained. The neighborhood is quiet with a massive park directly across the street. It is a five-minute walk from the nearest Ubahn and bus stops. Even though it is not right next to the station, it was very convenient. The Limbecker Platz shopping center is attached to the Ubahn entrance. It was a great place to grocery shop and get our meals. Everything was very convenient. When I encountered an issue with my reservation, I called the hotel and spoke with Alina, who helped me resolve my issue immediately. She and the rest of the staff were very patient and kind and my partner and I had a wonderful stay."

"Unfortunately, we only stayed for one night. The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful, and so is the hotel. We received a very warm welcome and had large rooms, which were just a little dated. But it was spotlessly clean, and we slept wonderfully. We had plans to meet someone else for dinner, but later we ended up staying at the bar. The service was fantastic, and the drinks selection was excellent. Breakfast was ample and good. I would gladly stay here again."

Pool area: n/a 5. Service: 5/5 Notes: A few interesting observations for the property. There were…no fridge no phone and no safe in the room. Deliberate choice by the hotel, when asked about it. It is located right in the middle of a UNESCO site. The coal mine was right there and now you can explore the site and a museum. Hotel’s decoration shows that as well. The interior design is very cool and modern. From the color choices to lighting to furniture, it is a very cozy property throughout. The highlight of our trip, however, was to see the dancer of the TS, apparently they were staying here as well, at least half of them. My kiddo was star struck. Overall weighted score: 5.0 out of 5.0 Would we come back? Yes and Yes, especially if you are going to Gelsenkirchen arena."

"Not a lot that is wrong here. Beautiful location, good staff, large rooms with all amenities, great bed, good wifi. Large parking, no charging for electric cars on site. Great breakfast, partially made to order. Two restaurants on site, a bistro and a fine dining restaurant. Bistro was good, not exceptional, but maybe this was because we had a set menu. Fine dining, much better, but ridiculously expensive wines, as well as all other drinks at the bar. I still give it 5 stars but selling a bottle of $20 euro for nearly $100 is not ok."

"We came to stay at this hotel over the weekend and we came for work. Truly we believed it’s not a 4 star. It is a 3 star. Reception is only open from 7am till 3pm. We arrived late, so there was no receptionist, our room was clean but the sink was so blocked that it wasn’t possible to properly use it at all, not even to brush the teeth cause the water would come to the floor. The next day in the morning I went and asked a receptionist to unblock the silk. Seemed like or she didn’t care or she didn’t speak English well. She didn’t even say she’s sorry that in a 4 star hotel the water comes on the floor if we use a sink. After we left to work all day and when we came back in the evening - nothing was fixed. Sink is the same very much blocked and receptionist is gone. I’d not recommend and not come back. Had to brush my teeth with a water bootle. Also there is only one pillow and house keeping just turned off the heating so it’s freezing cold when we come back, instead of giving fresh towels, bath mat (they forgot once again to give us a bath mat) or toilet paper. Honestly this hotel is not worth the money at all."

"Perfect for families who want to explore the metro and Grugapark. From the hotel you will almost fall into the metro station. The Grugapark is 5 minutes away. The family suites for 4 people are fully equipped with 2 room apartments and very spacious. Finally, you don't get stuck over bags. The hotel is overall rather small, which was noticeable especially at breakfast because it was beautifully quiet there. Probably was not booked, but it was not booked. At fair times it is certainly different. The breakfast was absolutely justified for the breakfast price we paid and was in order. There was even vegan layout and sheep milk. Coffee from a professional machine and high quality tea were also included. The parking in the indoor courtyard is partly overcovered, which is a advantage over the fair parking places next to the summer. In the entrance there are two machines with drinks, snacks and cosmetics if you forget something. I find it super that the daily cleaning is refrain from. That is safe for the environment as well as for the costs. The bathroom products were all also natural and very pleasant. Our children and we were very enthusiastic and enjoyed our short stay with Grugapark."
