"1. You could end up sleeping in the building on the other side of the main hotel. It has only disadvantages. The BIGGEST is that they don't tell you there is no elevator, and the rooms are accessible via a steep staircase that goes up 4 floors (8 flights of steps); that's a massive NO NO with luggage or for less fit people. OF COURSE they don't tell you this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a) no staff; b) no phone to call reception; c) no control at all, so the guests who are loud (in my case, the whole floor was having a party until I shouted at the noise-makers to stop, as the hotel did nothing to stop it after calling them (the receptionist barely could speak any language I could communicate with) d) when it's raining, you have to run across in the cold and rain. 2. Breakfast ok but not the best coffee; in fact, it tastes like coffee from the 1970s and probably on a good morning from the 1980s when the film "Back to the Future " was made! 3. Wi-Fi did not work - 50% on and 50% off. But don't worry its normal in Germany to have bad wifi. By the way, my personal footnote: Good luck with Essen, a horrible place and very unsafe when it gets dark; don't bother going out. A horror film awaits outside the hotel. Well done, Germany for destroying the safe country you once had."

"Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with this hotel. I was under the impression that their hotel cost 65 euros per night. Unfortunately, upon arrival, it turned out that we had to pay 95 euros. If the facilities were in order, I would have accepted that. However, it turned out that the hot water did not work during our entire stay. Additionally, there was no possibility for breakfast that morning. I made several attempts to contact the hotel. After a few attempts, I received a response. The option offered was a refund of 9 euros. I found this to be very inadequate. I am dissatisfied with my experience at the hotel, as well as with how complaints are handled afterward."

"The house is close to the main entrance to the tech and is a nice new building with terrace to the tech. Directly in front of the hotel the (gratis) parking. But we had no difficulty to find a normal parking a few meters further. The design is adapted to the issue of coal. A number of pieces of the past of the drawings, dark gangs with great photos of former drawing workers but not in any way dark but a consistent, customs union, concept. All rooms have the names of friends - and there is also a large portrait of the respective namer of the room. Of course everything is very clean and maintained, good mattresses, the bathroom with enough deposit areas. Eventually, one or other hook could be applied to hang the towels. In the ground floor, the bar, breakfast area or the restaurant - the latter we didn't visit. The breakfast buffet is extremely good and rich for a 3* house. The overall concept is consistent, the staff is extremely nice and the house is absolutely ideal if you want to explore the shell extensively and look for a nearby hostel with very good price/performance ratio."

"Very good hotel! Rooms are large, clean, ordened and modern, the same applies to the bathroom. Breakfast is very good. Person at breakfast is very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of parking (but 15,-/day) - it is not well painted: not driving to the small small parking place, which is painted, but just over at the main entrance, then then comes behind the real big parking place."

"We came to stay at this hotel over the weekend and we came for work. Truly we believed it’s not a 4 star. It is a 3 star. Reception is only open from 7am till 3pm. We arrived late, so there was no receptionist, our room was clean but the sink was so blocked that it wasn’t possible to properly use it at all, not even to brush the teeth cause the water would come to the floor. The next day in the morning I went and asked a receptionist to unblock the silk. Seemed like or she didn’t care or she didn’t speak English well. She didn’t even say she’s sorry that in a 4 star hotel the water comes on the floor if we use a sink. After we left to work all day and when we came back in the evening - nothing was fixed. Sink is the same very much blocked and receptionist is gone. I’d not recommend and not come back. Had to brush my teeth with a water bootle. Also there is only one pillow and house keeping just turned off the heating so it’s freezing cold when we come back, instead of giving fresh towels, bath mat (they forgot once again to give us a bath mat) or toilet paper. Honestly this hotel is not worth the money at all."
