Ben Nevis Hotel & Leisure Club
7.9 (52 reviews)

Ben Nevis Hotel & Leisure Club ★★★

📍 North Rd, Fort William

"I stayed at the Ben Nevis Hotel and Leisure Club in Fort William and left disappointed, mostly because of the gap between the price and what you actually get. The place feels terribly dated and is crying out for a renovation. The rooms are gloomy and the facilities across the board are old and in poor condition. Walls are thin and badly insulated, so you hear far more than you’d like. The bed was very uncomfortable, and the carpets, both in the rooms and the hallways, were dirty. Breakfast was average for what I’ve found in Scotland, so no real complaints there, though it’s nothing to write home about either. The real kicker: €230 a night. At that price I expected far better, and the value simply isn’t there. For anywhere near this rate in the area you can do considerably better. Hard to recommend unless it drops its rates significantly and invests in a much-needed overhaul."

"Although small, it has everything. The whole hotel is decorated in a British style, with a very antique style. The hotel staff is warm and welcoming, patiently explaining your questions. The hotel buffet has a rich variety of dishes."

"The external environment is very good, but the decoration of the hotel rooms is average, which is about the level of domestic hotels. The breakfast is simple. This price is the same as that near Fort William."

"Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Fort William houses are difficult to book in August. The house I saw online said it was a superior cabin. I really didn't understand the point of the room. When I went there, I realized that it looked like a high-end prefabricated house. About twelve square meters. It’s not like Fifteen square meters as described by Ctrip. As soon as I entered the house, it smelled like sweat. The house was very cold because it was on an open field. There is a heating system, but it heats up very slowly. I heated it until eleven o'clock and it was only twenty degrees. The bathroom was about one level and I couldn't take a shower in it. I slept all night with my clothes on. The key point is that a house like this costs more than 2,200 a night at this time. We booked two rooms for two nights. After sleeping all night, I decided not to stay any longer. The boss doesn't check out. Ctrip thought I was a high-quality customer and refunded 500 yuan to me. I just think it's a big hole. Breakfast in the morning is a la carte with a small amount of buffet. Not tasty. It feels like you made your own sausage. Unpalatable."

"Great view and location, within walking distance to places. The place looked old but quite clean. However, we got holes in our face towel. The shower was confusing to use. The water pressure was low and wasn't hot enough."

"A well situated hotel for the town centre with plenty of parking. Check in was slick and the room was spacious and well laid out. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom and shower were modern and clean. Breakfast is reserved in 15 minute slots which at first seems peculiar but is later explained as each order is freshly cooked in full view of an open kitchen. The menu is varied and a full Scottish breakfast was enjoyed in view of the loch. A good value stay, well recommended."

"We had a lovely stay in Apartment 4 with our dog. It was homely and clean. The beds were super comfy(just be aware of the overhead storage!). We appreciated the extra touches including towels, toilet rolls, handwash, washing up liquid, recycling bins, games, DVD’s, information and things to do in the area, a guest book to write in and a discount for a return visit. The location was great (it was quite noisy with traffic with it being on the main road through Fort William). The local vets were good when our dog got poorly while out one day. We would definitely recommend it to others."

"The room wasn't big, but it was quite new, and it was very warm at night (a big plus in Scotland) (yes, I stayed there in July). There was a coffee shop, which was convenient for breakfast, and the parking lot was very large."

"This was a solid place to stay and dine for our first night on the Great Glen Way. There appears to be new management, who are just getting their bearings, but they were quite accommodating and I’m sure they will get all of their wrinkles ironed out before long. Our room, and the dining room, had a lovely view of Neptune’s Staircase with snow-covered mountains in the background."
