"Our stay at Selkirk House was outstanding from start to finish. Celia is an exceptionally friendly and helpful host. She supported us with excellent restaurant recommendations and gave valuable tips for day trips in the area. The generous breakfast deserves special mention, offering a wide selection of fresh fruit and various freshly prepared egg dishes. Everything was beautifully presented and of high quality. The rooms are very spacious and thoughtfully decorated with great attention to detail. In the room, coffee, tea, and water are provided. The bathroom is perfectly equipped — nothing is missing. There are even candles to create a relaxing atmosphere in the bathtub, as well as tissues and many small extras that make a difference. Thank you, Celia, for hosting us so warmly at Selkirk House. We look forward to coming back."

Grand Lux Boutique Manor

"The owners of this hotel need to give some thought as to what makes a client happy. Our room was very spacious with a lovely view. That is where the compliments end. In extreme wind we had to walk outside to get into our room, despite there being a door inside the hotel leading directly into our suite. We were told by the manager that the door was “ for the staff’s use only to service the room”. The same applied to getting to breakfast. We had to walk outside in the howling wind, through a door that was very difficult to open, only to discover the manager had walked through the house via the kitchen, wind free. There were workmen on a Sunday morning painting around the pool. I decided as it was windy I would use the gym, only to discover a painter inside there too and, as a result, the room had such strong paint fumes it was unusable. There was no cappuccino or lattes available at breakfast, no none dairy options either. On the table there was only cheap table salt, no course salt. The shower had no hand rail or seat and the bath had nowhere to place shampoo or soap. No wonder we had to sign an indemnity at check in. And the hotel is not cheap. With a great location and some sweet staff who serviced our room, it will be a pity if these issues are not resolved. We packed up and left early. Did not see one other guest there. Not surprised."

The Thatch House Hermanus

"We have been coming to SA for the past 30 years and this is without a doubt the best hotel we’ve ever stayed. We came with my two young kids (and the grandparents), and it was truly a home away from home. The food is sublime, the facilities PERFECT for young kids and adults alike (small pool, tonnes of space to run, playground, tennis, the lake, kayaks etc), the rooms are the most spacious and beautiful I’ve come across, and the staff are gorgeous and warm and wonderful. What’s more, the kids video monitors would stretch from our bedroom, so we could put the kids to bed and have a delicious 3 course meal in peace overlooking the mountains or the water. We had the best time and I really couldn’t recommend The Thatched House enough. We will be back every single year forever more!"

La Fontaine Guest House Hermanus

"La Fontaine Guest house in Hermanus is really lovely. It is a mixture of two Cape Houses situated on the elevated terrace overlooking the ocean. Inside you will find antiques, comfortable furnishings, and memorabilia. The bedrooms are all different and very cosy with some overlooking the sea. There is a small pretty garden and pool and the property serves a super breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea. The staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. The town centre with restaurants and bars is just 5 minutes walk away. A great place to stay!"

"Really worth the spoil. Lovely positioning overlooking Voelklip beach with regular surfers mixed with a couple of whales. The room was clean and inviting and the breakfast was just what was needed. East access to cliff top pathway and some great restaurants nearby. Would highly recommend out of season."

"We spent three days in Unit. Very well equipped and so organized for load shedding as well. Didn't even know when load shedding was on. We had business meetings so very convenient and comfortable, very close to all restaurants and shops. Will definitely stay here again. Staff met us and settled us in. "
