We stayed at the Garden Sea View Resort in the new building. The room itself was excellent: very clean, fresh, and housekeeping was top-notch. However, the overall experience left us with mixed feelings due to the service and some strange incidents.
The main issue was the mornings. Out of our five-day stay, someone knocked on our door every morning, and the fire alarm went off at 7 AM three times. It strongly felt like the staff had a peculiar way of 'waking up' guests for breakfast, as there were no other reasons for the siren to blare so regularly.
Speaking of the staff, all the Thai employees seemed rather melancholic and sad; the usual hospitality was notably absent. The clientele was almost exclusively Russian. Breakfasts were quite mediocre and lacked variety.
The grounds are pleasant, and the pool itself is nice, but it appeared to be rarely cleaned. There was always a 'herbarium' floating in the water: leaves, sticks, twigs, and flowers.
In conclusion: The new building offers comfortable accommodation, but be prepared for an early 7 AM wake-up call and less-than-cheerful service.
